That's nothing: A Nintendo World Championships gold cartridge is worth over $20,000, and all it contains is timed versions of Super Mario Brothers, Tetris, and Rad Racer. |

I was going to say "who would pay this much for a sealed copy of such a common game": http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DONKEY-KONG-64-NINTE...1QQcmdZViewItem I then spotted this auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/N64-game-nintendo-N-...1QQcmdZViewItem I really don't understand why sealed stuff reaches such ridiculous prices. Well, okay, I do kind of understand... it's untouched, etc, but is it really worth five or ten times more than a mint condition copy? It would seem it is. |

Why is the Donkey Kong 64 game sealed in plastic? Is that a UK thing, or is it specific to that game? |

No, that must be specific to France, where the seller is located. Our sealed games were shrink wrapped in plastic but had a Nintendo strip around them. You can see it in the Mario Kart 64 auction. |

The packaging makes the controller rare, but without the packaging it's exactly the same as the smoke grey controllers that were sold worldwide.

Oh man, thanks for finding this auction again. I was going to buy this a while back, but because I'm stupid, I missed it and it ended before I could bid. I was planning to pay upwards of $250 for the Wide-Boy alone, and coupled with an NTSC console, it would have been perfect, especially at around $190. Oh well. C'est la vie, as they say. If anyone does find a Wide-Boy (any of the 2 or 3 versions) that they aren't interested in themselves, could they please chuck it in this topic, or PM me or something? It's the N64 accessory I want most in the world, because it's so damn cool and rare. Cheers, Franklint |

I saw an auction which was a wholesale lot and costed only 4.99 with 3.99 shipping. Came with a Gameshark and like 4 good games that included Zelda OOT, Mission Impossible, and two others that were pretty nice. I wish I didn't pass that up
It ended already.

Perhaps I'm evil, but I decided not to post these auctions until they'd finished, so I'd have less competition for the win. Interesting to look at anyway. Wide-Boy 64 (the accessory I've been most keen to get): http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=230289149164 N64 Sound Tool (the winner of this got a real bargain, as I haven't seen this accessory at all, and it seems much rarer than the Wide-Boy): http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=230289151021 I won the first (way too expensive, but I got it) and lost the second. I would have bid more, but I couldn't really afford it after winning the first one. There's a thread on the Sound Tool here: http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19049 , and it sounds very cool. Originally came with software to compose music straight to the N64 or something. I suppose I'll post this one too, even though it's still got a day left. It's a store demo disk for the N64DD. Although I don't have one, I'll still be bidding on this I think: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=300256418434 Looking forward to posting more about the Wide-Boy when I receive it. Cheers, Franklint |

Nice find Franklint! I'm also looking forward to hearing how well it works. I'm interested to hear if it's any better or worse than the more widely available Game Boy adaptors for the N64 such as the Datel Gamebooster which I posted my impressions of here: http://z9.invisionfree.com/Nintendo_64_For...?showtopic=1556

For the hardcore N64 gamer who would like to protect his investments and keep the collection organized I present you a look at this.... These Nintendo 64 game cartridge cases are made of wood and will fit 12-24 game carts in a well organized manner. I own a few of them myself and they are really nice. I like them because they save me space. I believe they will fit SNES games too but I don't know. I DO know that your Nintendo 64 games will fit in the cart slots rather snug, and the design matches the N64 looks. Complete with the official logo as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-3-Nintendo-64-G...4QQcmdZViewItem? Want to lug your N64 around but not in just any old bag? Get yourself a snazzy N64 system travel case, made to look and feel like the real deal. This bag is actually manufactured by a company called ALS Industries, which resides in California in the USA. They make some really sweet system protection accessories for all home consoles as well as handhelds. And their system travel cases simply look really nice and feel authentic too. I actually have the pleasure of owning this very same bag. http://cgi.ebay.com/carry-case-bag-for-nin...6QQcmdZViewItem? |

I'm interested to see how well it'll run too, guys! I guess that makes three of us.
According to the webpages I've seen about it, it runs pretty much flawlessly, and the screen size looks to be bigger than the Game Booster (which I also plan to get eventually, as well as the GB Hunter [available from http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/n64-main.htm]). The problem with the two Game Boy adaptors at GoldenShop is that neither of them emulate the sound or support saving games, and nor do they play Game Boy Advance games. By contrast, the Wide-Boy supports Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games and sound. I'm not sure about saving, but I'd say that's supported as well. I'm surprised it supports GBA emulation, as I didn't think the two consoles overlapped. I was of the impression that GBA came considerably after N64, but apparently not. The really odd thing is that there was a Game Boy adaptor released for both SNES and GameCube, and these were very widely sold and available for consumers, and yet the one in the middle (The Wide-Boy) was only released to third-party developers and the gaming press. Also, I'm afraid first-hand information will have to wait for quite a while, as I'm 90% sure the accessory only runs on NTSC consoles. I've been planning to pick one up for a while, but what with the purchase of the adaptor itself, an NTSC system will have to wait for a while. Cheers, Franklint |

Technically the Game Boy Advance was under construction as early as the late 1990's. And making Game Boy Advance emulation possible on a Nintendo Wideboy device is VERY possible and easier to achieve than you might think. The Game Boy Advance features a custom 32-bit processor coupled along with a Z-80 co-processor. (the necesarry processor responsible for playing older Game Boy and Game Boy Colors games) Technically the Game Boy Advance lacks a 3-D component portion of the processor...an obvious cost cutting strategy on Nintendo's part. So every game runs in a psuedo 3-D mode, which is to say they place 2-D isometric sprites that can roam in all directions, on a 2-D back ground. The older Zelda titles are a prime example of the use of psuedo 3-D. Basically the N64 is still the superior system in most regards to the Game Boy Advance hand held. It is possible to have a Game Boy Advance game pak make use of the N64's 32-bit instructions. In fact, I suspect expert hackers could make even better use out of Game Boy Advance games running on the N64 hardware. |

Not quite e-bay but this was found on amazon and is a really good deal I thought I should mention for those who might get interested. It's a Video to PC convertor box for a really good price. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...2OTJ1C&v=glance The concept is to hook your video game systems up to your PC monitors. It works on CRT and LCD no probs. You basically swap a TV to use your PC display as the TV instead. It increases the visual quality in older systems dramatically like the Nintendo 64 and Playstation. It excepts regular composite inputs, S-video, and component video though not HDMI unfortunately. Also, no TV tuner included. This is a bare bones package for those of you wanting better video quality on your older systems. Supports video resolutions of up to 1900x1200 and can be used in all regions such as NTSC or PAL. A respectable quality for the price of admission. I like using my SNES and N64 on my laptop using this convertor box as it functions much much better on that than my current 50 inch plasma HDTV. |
