At least as new systems come and go, we'll still have the N64 and its magical games. :)

I can see myself still playing the N64 10 or 20 years from now. Does anyone else feel that way?

Me. I can't see me ever getting tired of Goldeneye. Every couple of weeks I go back for a quick run through a level. And I still have quite a few N64 games to finish; Banjo Tooie, Paper Mario, Mischief Makers, Rocket: Robot on Wheels, etc. I'll be playing my N64 for a long time to come. :)

If you don't know anyone who likes to play the N64, you can make a little person who likes it.

Still, when was the last time you saw the N64 crash when playing a game?

Most of my games have crashed atleast once. Rare exceptions(and I mean games from Rare) occur, but Quest 64 has frozen more than once.(and on annoying areas too) So has Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, Clayfighters The Sculptor's Cut, and other games I can't remember.
Even bastards need to let off some steam.

And apparently have more egos than Waffles.

One of the reasons why I think the N64's games are more engrossing is because of the lack of loading times. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is an excellent game, but the constant and long loading times severely interrupts the flow of the game. Whereas with, for example, Zelda: OoT, when you enter a new area, the screen just fades in, then out, and you're there. I can start playing OoT and hours will pass unnoticed, but with KOTOR, every 10 minutes there's a 20 or 30 second loading screen, and during it you look at the clock and sip your drink, and it seems like every time you really get into the game, yet another loading time pulls you back out to reality.

Speaking of game crashes, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine would be a horrible game because of them if not for the ability to save anywhere, anytime. Interestingly, I got Aidyn Chronicles recently, and it hasn't crashed once. I've read that it's notorious for crashing, erasing save files, etc. I wonder if the black cartridge (my copy) is a less crash-prone version of the game.

I'm pretty sure that all copies of that game are black, except maybe the PAL version. Also, I played through that entire game before, and the game never crashed or erased my game. It does have quite a few glitches, though. :(

My N64 froze once, and only once (at least so far), I was playing Southpark with the infinite ammo cheat and through phillip dolls (which explode when you get near them), well I through about 60 in one area and I got near it and BAM all 60 went off at once >.>

Also what is with this topic and people having errors with windows? I only been using Computers online since 2000. I remember my computer crashing a bit when I had Millenium addition. But once I got XP I never had to face blue screens, or any major errors. What in the world are you guys doing causing these errors?

You can only carry 10 of those dolls, so you shouldn't use more than 10 at one time when using the infinite ammo cheat.

Ya I was just saying that was the only time my 64 ever froze. Because of a cheat.

Never mind, seems there is only one major product here :P

I love it because young kids don't want to tip toe around fragile cd's, wait through loading times, and play "serious" games (psx) with only 2 players. They have parties and stay up all night playing goldeneye, mario kart, and the rush games; games that make them laugh instead of games with 3 hours of fmv's, a turn-based move, and another 3 hours of fmv's.

Well, that's what got me hooked on it, anyway. Now I'm 23, and spending probably a $500 a month on various N64 things. PSX lovers always say the N64 didn't have enough good games. Who cares? If there was only 1 game made for it...ever...goldeneye...everybody would still have one. Besides, it had at LEAST 25 EXCELLENT, MUST HAVE, WOW, exclusive games, and probably another 25 very fun ones. 50 great games is more than enough to earn my respect and love.

Absolutely! Just like Stinger, if my children (if I have any) are interested in gaming, I want them to be able to enjoy games such as Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie. Those games are completely timeless and prove that there was once a time when games were purely based on fun rather than graphical flair (though they looked damn good for their time :D) and questionable content.

The only problem is that in 20 years I seriously doubt there will be a working N64 controller on God's green earth.

I'm sure someone can figure out a way to replace the original stick with a gamecube style one.

I agree with everyone, the N64 is the best Console ever, and I thinks some 64's will work in 20 years, because hey some NES's still work, don't they.

I don't know, lubricating the stick seems to work pretty well. They might last 20 years...

My analog stick works like a charm.

These are reasons why I love the Nintendo 64. Granted, it isn't what I consider the greatest system ever, but it is my favorite one:

- It was an 3D revolution. I used to spend hundreads of hours on Super Mario 64, that game was brilliant.
- Some of the best first-pary games ever.
- Low amount of shovelware present on the system.
- It's in cartridge form, so it feels more natural then let's say, disc format.
- First successful console to come out of the box with four players.
- The main reason is that it got me into gaming.
- Tons of games that I want of the system, potentially enough to keep me entertained for years to come.
