Talk about RPGs here! === I started Legend of Legaia today. I'm not too fond of the characters right now, but the battle system is awesome. The graphics are also pretty good for a PSX game. |

I've never played Legend of Legaia, though I did play Legend of Dragoon and Wild Arms 2, both of which were good. I have fond memories of playing Legend of Dragoon one winter in high school when we had a lot of snow days. SCEA hasn't made the best RPGs, but they certainly weren't bad. I'd imagine Legaia plays very similiar to other Sony games. I can't really claim a favorite RPG, I really love the genre. I have played everything from NetHack to Final Fantasy 12 with equal enthusiasm. Chances are, if you name an RPG I've either played it or at least heard of it. |

From what I've played of Legaia and Dragoon they are really differant. The combat system in Legaia is much better, and you can actually walk around the world map. The graphics are similiar I suppose, though I guess its to be expected. I'm also playing through Final Fantasy VII, since I haven't in many a years and my friend let me borrow it. I just got Tifa. |

I absolutely love FF7 *points at avatar*, I just replayed it recently. It's one of the few games I can play over and over without getting bored. I may have memorized like everything in that game... |

Yup, I noticed the avatar
It is a great game. I'm still yet to see watch Advent Children. And my friend has Dirge of Cerberus still in unwrapped, so I might have to convince him to open it up soon. But I heard it wasn't that great anyway... |

FF8, Shining Force 1, Shining Force 2, then Quest 64. This is without counting Zelda games. After those is Golden Sun 2, Golden Sun, Sonic Battle, and Yu-Gi-Oh: The Sacred Cards. |

I didn't really like Advent Children, FF7's story was fine without elaboration (and if you remember the ending to FF7, it sort of makes Advent Children not possible), though it was cool to see all these characters in ridiculously detailed graphics. Dirge of Cerberus... sucks. When I first played FF7, I played for like hours upon hours until I got to the end of disc one -- what happened made me so sad I actually didn't play for a few days. Those snowy fields were so lonely

Heh, I was wondering about that... And Dirge of Cerberus seemed iffy. Not to seem publisher-racist(?) but Square-Enix should stick to RPGs, not shooters... And Hydronix, what did you like about FFVIII? When I played it it didn't really catch my interest. Its laying around here somewhere, so I suppose I'll give it another go once I finish my current game backlog (which is a LOT) |

FF7 UPDATE: Just left Costa del Sol. Jenova*BIRTH was disappointling easy, and I'm pretty positive I'm underleveled anyway...[/COLOR=white] And Dave, if the characters picture is to the left on the "Order" screen, does that make them in the front or left row? I don't have the instruction manual and can't tell... |

I'd have to say that my favourite RPG is FFX, followed by Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. |

Characters to the left are in the front row, characters in the back are in the back row. If the weapon is described as "long range" (or if you have the long range materia equipped) it'll do the same damage from the back row. Watch out because not all of Barret's mid-game weapons are long range. FF8 wasn't that bad, though the junction system was really easy to abuse. Once you know not to level up until Cactaur, how to abuse limit breaks, etc the game gets both cheesy and tedious. |

Final Fantasy X was great. I haven't played played any Baldur's Gate games except Dark Alliance, and I hear the console games are nowhere near as good as the PC ones. And thanks for the help Dave.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic I and II were awesome. Even a non-Star Wars fan would probably enjoy them, assuming that they were playing Darkside.
Fable was pretty good too, though way too short. |

I loved the Junction system(regardless of the abuse, but it helps training), as well as the Guardian Forces. True, Diablos wasn't the ultimate one, but until then, he quite ruled at Level 100. I also liked his ability to ignore battles, which explains the ability of training. I admit, the Drawing to get Magic was a tad annoying, but with the Junction system, it was rather fun. Blinding the T-Rexaurs was pretty sweet. The characterization did suck somewhat, but it was still fun, and that's the key point. I thought its storyline was fairly linear(but not entirely poor) too. |

I personally think that Fable is incredibly overrated. The developers clearly had some great ideas but didn't quite pull them off. It was by no means a bad game but I just thought that it wasn't the groundbreaking experience that it was hyped up to be. |

I agree. The combat was alright, and the character development (story-wise) sucked, but (level-wise) was pretty good. The level up system blew, and the environments, while pretty, weren't varied enough. The overall game was too short, and left me wanting more. The end sucked. The story sucked overall. "Your village and parents got killed! Go get revenge!!!!!" Your character sucks. Fable 2 looks awesome. |

It does look pretty good, but Fable left a really bad taste in my mouth so I'll be very reluctant to buy it. |

Anyone know if anything happens once they end, or during them? |

Well, it's been a long time since I beat the game, so I can't remember what happened during the credits. After the credits finish, I think there is a brief scene involving King Micky, Donald, Sora and Goofy, but I'm probably wrong. |

"Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm!" Minsc was so funny. In FFVII I just got out of that jail like place in the golden saucer or something. I really didn't enjoy FFX much either and also gave up pretty early on. Maybe I should give them another go. My favourites would be Chrono Trigger, Might & Magic VI, Ultima VII and if you count it Heroes Of Might & Magic II. |

Vincent's limits blow. Luckily he has the best weapon in the game. The part of the game that you are at is probably my favorite part. I loved the Materia keeper the first time I fought it. |

How far are you now, Saint Young? Did you finish the first disc yet ![]() I've been playing Dawn of Souls recently. It really breaths life into a game I've already played to death. Currently defeated the Lich, upgraded my classes and gotten the airship. Up next is the volcano. |

Finished FF1 in Dawn of Souls. The final boss was greatly improved from the NES version. I've done one run through 3 or the 4 optional dungeons. My characters are basically walking gods, though my play clock only reads 15 hours. I have saved the dungeon with Omega and Shinryu for last -- they should pose a challenge! |

Omega and Shinryu were sadly disappointing. The temper spell proved very broken, making the game way too easy. Not to mention having multiple rune staffs that could be used by any member of the party via the item command. Oh well! I started FF2 just for the hell of it. Currently up to the part where I get Joesf in my party. |
