Can I resurrect this topic and bring on some more interesting N64 facts?

  • One of the reasons Donkey Kong 64 had to use the Expansion Pak was due to a game-breaking bug. The bug did not appear when using the Expansion Pak so it ended up being a requirement to play the game.

  • Kamek was originally intended to be a racer in Mario Kart 64 and appears in early screenshots of the character select screen. He was later replaced by Donkey Kong in the roster.

  • Grant Kirkhope, the Rareware music composer, was the voice of Mumbominion in Banjo-Kazooie, and he speaks the "OK!" heard when turning on Donkey Kong 64.

  • In order to save space, many of the "voices" in Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie were using the same audio files, but pitched up and down respectively.

  • In 1993, when the N64 was known as "Project Reality," some promotions claimed Nintendo's new console would have graphics on par with Pixar's upcoming Toy Story movie.
