Well, it's out. Anyone thinking of getting it? Anyone played it? How does it compare to the original? Gamespot's review is here: http://uk.gamespot.com/ds/driving/diddykon...m_clk=gssummary And both Banjo and Conker have been removed, probably because they're Microsoft owned characters now. |

I saw that review a few days ago and it certainly made it sound like they made the game a lot worse -- that is, until I saw Gamespot gave the original Diddy Kong Racing a 6.6. They also gave Mario Kart 64 a 6.4! I'm really surprised -- Mario Kart 64 is often cited as the best in the series and DKR isn't something to turn your nose up at. Those two reviews are probably the most inept things I've ever seen on that joke-of-a website. Here are some other insulting scores: Major League Baseball Staring Ken Griffy Jr -- 6.8 Aero Fighters -- 5.4 Bomberman 64 -- 4.6 F-Zero X -- 7.5 Pilotwings -- 8.9 (not 10? wtf?) Smash Bros -- 7.5 Turok Rage Wars -- 5.8 (Virtual Chess 64 even got 6.1!) Yoshi's Story -- 5.3 Maybe not the best games ever, but they certainly aren't that low. How did they decide that Bomberman 64 is worse than Quest 64? Seriously. I am hereby boycotting Gamespot for the piss-poor reviews of N64 games! |

Mario Kart 64 seemed lacking in features to my opinion. A few multiplayer modes, a few race tracks, and some purty 3D graphics. That score is still insulting, and so is the DK64 one, which I feel is much better than MK64... |

Its not just N64 games they do piss-poor reviews of. They gave the 3rd Tony Hawk game a perfect 10! I never played DKR on N64 so I'll prolly it up on DS. Maybe when I'm finished with Mario Kart and need something to fill the gap before Pokemon. |

I'm really interested to see how it plays on the DS. It was nothing short of superb on the N64 so hopefully Rare have done a good job of translating it, though judging by their recent performance in the industry I'm not holding my breath. As for those GameSpot reviews of N64 games, I've never seen such blasphemy! OK, maybe I have, but it doesn't change the fact that those scores are ridiculous. 7.5 for Super Smash Brothers and 5.8 for Turok: Rage Wars? Stick with IGN64.com if you're after professional N64 reviews. |

Not only those games - don't forget: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - 10 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princes - 8.8/8.9 SSX Blur - 7.4 and more... From the moment they started reviewing Wii games, I switched to IGN for reviews. |

I will admit that Tony Hawk 3 was absolutely amazing for its time (reverts
), it isn't deserving of a ten. Then again, nothing is deserving of a ten in my opinion...

Haven't played the DS version... well, aside from maybe 15 seconds worth on a store display. SO... (like always)... I can tell you what I've heard... that DKRDS is, if anything, a step down from the N64 version, what with the gimmicky touch screen/mic input features and replacement of the silver coin challenge. But I hear the visuals are improved, and that there's 4 new tracks, along with a custom one... not to mention Wi-fi-ability... which may or may not warrant a purchase right there. ... maybe sometime down the line I'll own this version. Maybe all of us should buy it so we can duke it out online!

You know, with emulation, we could potentially play N64 games online. I would have no problem playing Perfect Dark online and humiliating Kerr Avon on his own terms. |

According to Gamespot they rate (Nintendo) games based on being differant from their predecesors. The Halo and Grand Theft Auto series still get fantastic scores despite being (quite) similiar, but then again they aren't released on Nintendo kiddy systems. |
