I've received the following message from Gamefaqs: Your message was found to be violating the following section of the TOS: Vulgar language or substitutes for such - Our Service is programmed with a list of words that are considered vulgar under any context, and these words are not allowed to be used under any circumstances. Attempting to bypass the censor by misspelling, inserting spaces or symbols, transposing letters, using look-alike symbols, or any other method is not allowed. The only acceptable method of posting one of these vulgar words is to completely obscure it, making it impossible to determine what the word is without context. Additionally, certain words are prohibited from being used in topic titles and user information pages; bypassing the censor to post those words where they are restricted is also disallowed. For example, if "gris" is a banned word, the following are examples of bypassing that are not allowed: g-r-i-s, gr*s, 9|-1$, girs, gryeeeas, g***. Allowed: ****, ****ed, ****ing, g'ed, g-word. (Note: Neither -ed nor -ing are parts of the banned word "gris".) My post is DE is much better than DE:IW, though I wouldn't say DE is the best FPS ever. It's superb game, and maybe the best game of it's type, but it's not a first person shooter, as I think the RPG aspects and moral choices make it a different type of game from a FPS. Half-Life, Goldeneye and Unreal Tournament are first person shooters. Deus Ex is a real time action based RPG in a first person setting. >I'a a BIG Deus Ex fan. I think the first one was one of the best RPG-1st person shooters around. I enjoyed the original so much I couldn't wait for Invisible War to come out. Unfortunetly, Invisible War is not even half of what the original is. Aparently, the game was developed to be released on the PC, then, half-way into development, they struck a deal with Microsoft to be available also on the X-Box. That's way Invisible War has a console-like interface and that's why the first screenshots of Invisible War (at the begining, when it was being developed only for the PC) actually look better than tha game does now. And what's so F*$%ED UP about the second one is that it has NO SKILL SYSTEM, no RPG component, no nothing. I give the original a 10 and Invisible War a... 6 (because it still shows JC[just a little]) Yes, I agree. DE:IW is a nice game, but compared to DE:IW it's a major step backwards, largely because it was dumbed down, presumable for the console audience (I hate the assumption that console owners are too stupid to understand anything more complicated than a platform game). The authors removed the skills system and the inventory system (where each item had a realistic size), and they added a universal ammunition system that feels unsatisfactory (it doesn't force you to be careful with the weapons you choose, sadly, and you are given no indication of how much ammo any given weapon uses), reduced the size of the levels to almost claustrophobic size, and they gave us a story, dialogue and locations that are far inferior to the original. On the plus side, DE:IW has better graphics (who cares?) a nice selection of bio-mods (well, I like them) and you can choose whether to play as a man or a woman. And that's it, it's worse in every other respect that I can think of. Like I said, DE:IW is not a bad game, but it's nowhere near as good as the original, and is a major dissapointment for us fans of DE. First of all, the TOS violation was in the post I was quoting (although I did quote the violation, so perhaps it's fair to mod me), but why has it taken them six months to mod me? Oh well, I'm not complaining. I just think it's more evidence of GF's lax standards. Gamefaqs, eh? Making N64 Forver look better by the day. (That should be Gamefaqs' motto )

It must be annoying to be modded after six months but... you did break the rules. Most stuff on GameFAQs only gets modded when another board user marks the message for moderation. The only exception to that is when a mod is on the same board and notices the violation of ToS. Most mods are busy in the current gen boards where the worst offenses usually take place (fanboys wars can be quite funny sometimes!
) but mods are just board users too, so they'll post on the boards they have an interest in. Maybe you were unlucky? Quoting someone else isn't really an excuse either. If you use text from someone else's post it's easy to censor it but most people get caught out because they're not sure of the rules. Usually all that happens in that case is that your post gets deleted or you lose some Karma. Don't worry about it, it's happened to us all. There's only one moderation I've had that I thought was unfair and it was on GameSpot. It was in a topic called "story about Nintendo" which was a board game where each user furthered the story. I added my little line in and completely forgot about it. A couple of months later I noticed I had been moderated for posting in that topic. The reason "Off topic posting"!!! How? It was a story about Nintendo and my post had a line about Mario so how is it off topic? Anyway, nothing actually happened, except that the post was deleted so I didn't worry about it. Anyway, don't you prefer the troll-free environment of N64 Forever?

You got to be careful of those curse words! Make sure they are ****! Censor Bypass violations are always Karma-loss moderations. And there's at least one troll here... ME! You can't be a cynic and not be a troll. |

That's weird... I just got modded a bit back too. On the Pokemon Diamond board, I quoted a funny quote from the game, and... I GOT MODDED FOR BEING OFF-TOPIC! WTF!!! Do you suppose if you say "All your base..." on the Zero Wing board you'd get modded? My moderation was completely uncalled for. |

That is pretty harsh. Was the topic you posted in dedicated to a certain aspect of the game or the game as a whole. If the topic falls under the former category than I can understand why you got modded. |
