I've got some scratched games but they've been replaced by working copies for the most part. Also, insane bump to see this thread in action with the current crowd.

I got Hey you! Pikachu in a lot with just the cartridge. Still haven't played it. Can you even play it without the mic? |

I have a lot of games I've never played. That's the name of the game on the collector side. Some of them I'll play someday while many others may remain untouched long after I'm gone or I stop being a gamer. |

It depends what you class as played. I always test any games I buy make sure they work give them a good 30mins or so at least. So there are none that I haven't played as such. However, there are games I own that I haven't really played a lot and to be honest won't get played any time soon with the long queue and the ever less time you have to play them as an adult. For the N64 I'm talking about the likes of Superman and Xena Warrior Princess for example. |

I have a lot I never played, and a lot I never will play. Most of these are my Gamecube collection. Going for a complete PAL set that included many many bad titles. Also my PS1/ PS2/ xbox contains a lot of these. It's mostly good games I still haven't tried, and due to time and better games coming out, probably never will try. My N64 collection has some ports of games I used to play on the PC, and still prefer on the PC, like Lego Racers and Command & Conquer. Both were "played" but not a whole lot more than 15 minutes each. |

Just out of interest how many games have you got on the GC / how many left to go? Sounds interesting. |

Ha ha. Yeah. So here's how I try to rationalize it to myself. My backlog is what I will be doing in retirement. I will willingly pick up games I know I won't be playing anytime soon, but only if they're a good deal or I think may be difficult to find later on. Of the games I know for sure are sitting untouchted... StarFox Adventures - GCN Paper Mario Stick Star - 3DS Final Fantasy XIII-2 - PS3 Command & Conquer - N64 Super Paper Mario - Wii Pretty much all my Sega Genesis games I'm sure I'll add more. Nothing but time, right? |

When you're in retirement, you're probably going to thank your past self for your backlog. I acquire games at a pace that rivals snails, so the only backlogs I know is when a part in a game stumps me.

Every single game I buy for myself is almost immediately played as soon as I get home to make sure it works and for first impressions. That is except for one game: Skylanders Giants for Nintendo 3DS. My older brother (when he came to visit) and I found three unopened Portal Owner's Packs at a thrift store well over a year ago. He decided to take two of them to sell on eBay while I took the last one for my collection, thinking I could just find a 3ds Portal of Power out in the wild. Well I have found some Portals of Power since then, but not a single one of them went to the 3DS. So, 1 1/2 years later, my Skylanders Giants box is still sitting in my room unopened with Tree Rex looking like he wants out of there ASAP. I'm aware they do sell those portals on Amazon, but I guess the prices haven't been low enough for me to finally buy one since I'm obviously not in any rush to play the game anyway. Perhaps someday I'll finally buy one so I can finally see what I've been missing all this time. |

I had to check my log for this. Currently I am on 210 out of (as for as I can tell) 463 official, unique games. So for now I'm not counting Germany-exclusive double packs etc. To these 210 games come some variations (i.e. Windwaker limited amd regular release, some Player's Choice and some different cases for Mario Kart) and some sealed games, making the total PAL count so far about 230. Add to this a Freeloader, 2 Japan exclusive games (out of 15 I want) and 3 USA exclusives (out of 33 I want). Most of the PAL games are found in the wild. Some are bought or traded at conventions. A few are bought from online stores at a really good prices (semi good fillers below €3 each). About 15 are games I owned back in the day already. The imports are obviously from eBay. So there is still a long way to go. But for 2 years of active collecting it's not bad. Some of the rares/ valuable ones I already owned, like Kirby Airride, Paper Mario and Super Smash Bros Melee.
