What did you get for Xmas?

Tell other N64 Forever members about all the lovely presents you got. And how good your xmas dinner was (and maybe even how drunk you got).

Well, I go the usual spoilt treatment from Mrs Alxbly. Loads of games and DVD's and CD's and books and other stuff. Here's the games related stuff that I got.

Xbox 360 games:

Battlestations Midway
Condemned
Eternal Sonata
Hitman Blood Money
Project Gotham Racing 4

PS2 games:

Final Fantasy X :)
Burnout Dominator

Other stuff:

A wiimote lightsaber
360 Wireless headset
Wii Nunchuk

I nominate Mrs Alxbly as the best girlfriend in the world!

Not had xmas dinner yet (it's only 5am), but I'm already looking forward to it. ^_^

I didn't get any stoats. :(

Stoats are more in demand this year than the Wii. FACT!!!

That must be why I can't find any anywhere!

*please ignore the fact that stoats don't live anywhere near my area*

Have you tried the local stoat market? Or one of the stoat chain stores that are becoming popular? As a last resort there's always eBay, but I hear there are a lot of fake stoats in circulation.

Plus the shipping charges are scandalous.

All I can find on eBay are taxidermy stoats. They won't help us overtake the world.

Couldn't we load them into the Cartridge Chucker 2000?

That's 9000! Not 2000! That model never worked...

And no, the stoat wouldn't fit in the Cartridge-Chucker 9000. That would require some sort of Stoat-Chucker 9000, the very idea of which is truly inconceivable!

Nice. Crazy Taxi is amazing and should be easy to find. A definite must-buy for the Dreamcast. :)

I've just perfected the Stoat Chucker 1.0. It consists of two sticks, some elastic and a stoat. Range: around 20-30 km.

That's a nice start, but it needs a longer range. A spreader function would be handy too, and maybe... hey wait, you didn't invent anything! All you did was grabbed a slingshot and renamed it!

Call me when you make version 9000.2

EDIT: Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

I'm off to bed, dreaming dreams of receiving a stoat for Christmas.

I got Star Wars: Lethal Alliance (DS), a flashlight that you wind up instead of having batteries that need to be replaced, a few other smaller things, and some money. It was a good Christmas.

Yeah, never mind that the controls suck, you really need to see the stitching on Mario's hat to enjoy the game.

But at least it has a decent multiplayer, Live co-op play, friends lists ...

And, unsurprisingly, Master Chief is the secret character. ^_^

Really? The multiplayer is decent? I thought it was just tacked on. It would have been better if it were a true Mario Brothers game. Maybe next time...

Seriously, somebody here should review Mario Galaxy! (Wii Version)

The Wii version's multi is tacked on. The imaginary 360 version's multiplayer was originally broken but there was a patch, then an update and they've just released new maps (for a price). It's called Mario Galaxy vs Halo IV Wars (Duckhunt Edition).

Any advice for new players? I'm using the standard grid... whatever that means.

It'll sell more than Halo 3 and SSBB combined.

By the way, could you please review Super Mario Galaxy before I explode?

The standard grid is a must for new players. It is very straightforward and clearly indicates the path that you should take for each of your characters. The expert grid should only be used after you've played the game thoroughly at least twice, since it is so flexible. Also, pay great attention to the sphere grid tutorial (which you'll recieve very early into the game) as it can be very difficult to grasp.

There isn't a great deal of advice I can give, but definitely try not to over-level, since it will destroy the difficulty of the game. Don't even worry about levelling up until you get to a "certain highroad" and even then do so sparingly for each new area you explore. In fact, if you battle every random fiend you come across whilst progressing through a certain area, you'll be strong enough (but not too strong) to continue through the game without having to spend hours walking around in circles levelling up. There's nothing more rewarding than having to complete the game using refined strategy rather than brute force.

Also, use each of your characters as equally as possible. Every character has their own strenghts and weaknesses and all come in very handy, depending on the fiend or boss you're battling.
