I'm sick of DLC. They need to end DLC and just give us the full game to start with. Heck they bring them out as "Game of the Year Editions" later on with it all for the same price anyway. |

I have no big beef with DLC... it gives the fans of whatever game with DLC support the opportunity to revisit said game and explore/enjoy new areas/content. No one's forced to buy DLC, and just as you say, if you've been on the fence on buying a game, you can always wait until a (usually) inevitable GOTY edition comes out. No one's forced to buy a game at launch, and the way things have been, they always go down in price eventually... so budget-minded gamers just need to be a bit patient is all. |

You're right about that. I'm a little miffed that a Legendary Edition of Skyrim is being released with all the DLCs included. I would have waited for that one. Instead I have to scramble for more points to download 'em for my game. Argh.

Yeah... "hype" has a pretty solidly inverse relationship with "budget". If you're hyped up enough, you're not gonna worry so much about spending full retail for a release at launch (or a cheaper, but pre-GOTY version of a game). If you're looking more at your budget and as a result, wait to purchase a game, then you'll be green with envy, hearing about how great such and such a game is that all your friends are playing. Luckily... I've yet to have purchased a copy of Skyrim... so the Legendary Edition it is for me! |

If I hadn't bought all of the pieces of the Collector's Edition except the box and statue then I might think about selling it and getting the Legendary Edition. Instead I'll just get that pesky DLC and try to track down a box and statue in the future. |

I understand what your saying floorcat. I think it just becomes a bit frustrating forking out more money for stuff so you can continue to play the game. It kinda makes you not want to buy the game at launch if you can foresee that DLC will be coming. Something like Skyrim is a perfect example. I suppose I'm not against all DLC but it just frustrates me a little when you pay full price at launch and then they bring out DLC and a couple of months later you can buy the full game with DLC included for the same price or less than the original purchase. But I guess that seems to be the way of the gaming world these days, so I better get used to it. I'm not thinking that this is ever going to change, at least not any time soon.

I think this is just laziness on the publisher's part... as in they don't want to take the expense of printing new discs (with new/updated data) when they can get away with just creating & including redemption codes to get the extra DLC content.  I'm right with you though... if they're going to go as far as to print new artwork/disc-work for a game, just include the new content on the disc itself!! |

Hey guys, apparently The Last of Us will have... The best multiplayer ever concieved? Naughty Dog has remained tight-lipped on its planned multiplayer component for The Last of Us, but one thing is clear is that it has supreme confidence in the feature – so much so that it has said the game boasts the ‘best multiplayer ever conceived.’ The comments come via Tweet by Nate Wells, lead artist at Naughty Dog, who teased, “And I REALLY can’t prepare you for the best MP ever conceived.” That is exciting! I'm always skeptical when it comes to multiplayer claims since I couldn't really care less about it. But if it makes other people happy then so be it. I'm just ready to get my hands on that game!

I'd love the Collector's Edition but I'm not going to pony up $150 for it. The Special Edition is cool but I don't see myself paying an extra $20 just for a steelbook case and a blueprint. The digital stuff never really does anything for me. I will probably just pre-order the standard retail copy from Walmart, so I get my discount, but only when I can verify the blimp comes with that pre-order. |

Anybody heard of 'Dying Light' ? A new open-world Zombie game! If this is even slightly like Day Z, it will be awesome. Some will say 'Ugh, another zombie game?' but I love most zombie games and this one will integrate full-on PARKOUR! Parkour makes every game better, and are reasons why [Prototype] and Mirror's Edge are some of my fav games. also, the zombies look REAL spooky.

I saw a blurb about it earlier on Facebook but wasn't particularly interested...until I found out it was from the same developer as the Dead Island games AND that it will be on 360 and PS3 in addition to the next gen consoles. Now I am interested.

Well June 11th is the date for Nintendo's Wii U mega-reveal. The games we know we'll see are Smash Bros, the new Action/Adventure 3D Mario Game, Mario Kart. Also I'm hoping we see more for Xenoblade/Xenosaga 2, Shin Megami x Fire Emblem, Retros Project (Metroid), Wind Waker HD, Zelda Wii U. Can't think of any others off the top of my head but I'm sure its gonna be incredible. !0 AM EST Nintendo Direct June 11th. |

Wow, kinda hit a nerve here. I agree with this completely. And although I don't collect modern games (only games that are at least 5 - 10 years old), this kind of sums up my POV. I'm not going to pay multiple times for one game. And this has got me hesitant to purchase any new games or systems. And now the Xbox One gamers are going to have to pay a fee to associate a used game with their account? Ludicrous. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (and I hope I am) but that is just ridiculous. And if DLC is a big part of the game, what happens when the console becomes 'retro'? (outdated). I'm not going to buy a used game I cannot finish... And I hate games with pay DLC only endings. Perhaps my views are extremely misguided (I'm basing all of this on my little bit of experience with my friends 360s), but that's not how games are supposed to work (IMO). And whereas I understand how DLC can contribute to a game's fun factor, I don't think it should be a mandatory part of the game. Edited by Omnert, May 27 2013, 01:35 PM.

DLC are cool because they add length and play time. it suits well for GOOD games as it add alot of replay value. im a big fan DLC as I dont buy alot of new games, maybe 1 or 2 a year, so when they release DLC I buy it and I dont think twice unless it's just poor boring costume pack. anyhow, not the point of this topic. went today to EBGames and pre-ordered the GTA V Collector's Edition. I wanted to pre-order it to my local shop but alas, it's an EBGames/Gamestop exclusive, meh. |

I'm going to pre-order GTA V from Walmart so I'll get my discount. The standard version comes with the blimp so I'm pretty satisfied with that. I'll probably get a strategy guide for it to add to my collection. |

I cant understand paying 150 for a collectors edition with not much in it. I mean yeah theres some cool stuff but not worth the extra 90 imo, id love to get one but cant afford it :p |

That is a pretty penny for what is offered. If I was rolling in the dough I'd probably splurge for it but I'd rather see it reduced in price. That said, I probably wouldn't pay $100 for that edition even though I paid that much for Tomb Raider. But that one was worth it for me as the TR series, as a whole, has meant more to me than the GTA series. In the meantime, The Last Of Us is out in less than three weeks! That's my next big purchase.
