Nintendo 64 Game Save List by Mop_it_up This is a list of save information for Nintendo 64 games! It is a complete list of North American releases and includes a few Japanese import titles as well. TABLE OF CONTENTS: 1. General information. 2. Games which support both forms of saving. [G2S] 3. Games which save to the cartridge. [GCS] 4. Games which save to a memory card. [MCS] 5. Games which use passwords. [PWS] 6. Games which do not have any form of saving. [NOS] 7. Credits. [CRD] To jump to a section, use ctrl + F, then enter the three letters in the brackets. You can also find a specific game using this same method. 1. General information. The Source This information was gathered from the North American versions of these games. As far as I know, there are no differences in the save functions of these games' other-region releases, such as PAL or JPN. There could always be the oddball game that saves differently in some other country, but none such game exists to my knowledge. The Rundown Games with both: 14 Games with internal: 79 Games with memory card: 189 Games with passwords only: 3 Games with no save: 17 Total: 302 Controller Pak? Controller Packed! Nintendo's official name for the memory card is Controller Pak; only Nintendo-branded memory cards are labeled as such. Third-party products are generally labeled Memory Card or Memory Pak/Pack, but they serve the same function as Nintendo's Controller Pak. Furthermore, Nintendo's filing system uses different terms than the memory cards for other gaming systems. A "note" is the same thing as a "file" on other systems, such as GameCube, PS2, etc. A "page" is the same thing as a "block" on your new-fangled devices such as Wii, XBox 360, etc. Cards come in only one size: the upper limit of notes (files) is 16, and the upper limit of pages (blocks) is 123. Third-party products claiming to have more than 123 pages are actually separated into switchable "memory banks" of 16 notes and 123 pages each. A few games confuse the terms explained above, and they are: -Extreme G confuses “notes” with “pages”. -Fighting Force 64 refers to “pages” as “blocks”. -Multi-Racing Championship says “Requires 45 pages of game notes.” All memory cards use SRAM and therefore require a CR2032 battery to operate. If your memory card can hold saves only while the N64 system is powered on, you may need to replace the battery. Regional Compatibility Memory cards are region-free: any card from any region will work with any system and game. Not only that, but game saves from any region can exist together on the same card. Below is a screenshot of Morita Shogi 64 (Japanese save), Stunt Racer 64 (US save), and World Driver Championship (UK save) all happily residing on the same memory card. Click to see screenshot 2. Games which support both forms of saving.[G2S] NOTE: All memory card files use 1 note unless otherwise noted. Big Mountain 2000 Has one master save file. Save data can be copied to the memory card, and uses 2 pages. Blast Corps. One file can be saved to the cartridge.
