There aren't even that many games on the 360 that really interest me. I've played the UFC game and that was awesome, and skate was also really good. soul calibur and street fighter look good but they are probably not as good as the originals.Oblivion is awesome but I have it for computer. There are so many shooter/war games it annoys me, they are all the same, I was borrowing my friends xbox and he had like 3 demos for war games and they were all like the same.
Also while I was borrowing it, we were playing the UFC game and the 360 got bumped and the game was fucked up to hell.
The reason they scratch the dics so easily is that Microsoft didn't put gaurds around the lens so if the game gets off balance a little it will be scratched.

Eh, if somebody wants to swear off the XBox 360 because of potential hardware issues and miss out on the games, that's their loss really.
I think it is more of a gain if you don't buy one, you don't have to deal with the mechanical issues, sending it in, fixing your games, buying new ones, red ring, etc. I have played lots of games for the 360 and they are just plain out not impressive. In my opinion the 360 is a half ass piece of equipment that Microsoft just threw out to xBox fans knowing they would buy it, and not really putting in to much thought about how long it will last etc and just had their sights set on money which Is fine as long as they can make a system that works and worth the money which it isn't. For example I have had my N64 for over 10 years, not once did it ever have any mechanical issues whatsoever and that was made about 13 years ago, so you are telling me Microsoft can't release a decent piece of machinery that won't break down using modern technology. I don't care if the failure rate for the Xbox was 20% (which we know is higher) that is still horrible, that means every 1 out of 5 people buying an xbox will have mechanical issues, to me even 10% is a risk. I wouldn't be willing to gamble 200$ + dollars on a system that is proven to be unreliable. If someone said to me for 200 dollars I will sell you an Xbox 360 but their is a 1 out of 5 chance it will break down within the next year. I would say they are out of their fucking mind. Why can my N64 and SNES outlast an xBox when they are 10-16 years older? Maybe because Nintendo may have money in their sights too, but at least they care enough to make consoles that will last. In my opinion.

Ah, i wondered when the "Nintendo care" line would be trundled out. Did Nintendo care enough to replace one of our own member's Wii discs?

http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/single/?p=8026895&t=7124835
http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/single/?p=8028671&t=7124835

or fix his console?

http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/single/?p=8028696&t=7124835

I know of a few other people that have had Wii's die on them; one due to the wii connect 24 melting the board, another with a blown power pack (easily fixed though, just got another power pack). PS3's also suffer from flaws; early 60GB units are now showing the "yellow light of death".

Whilst it's really easy to say "Look, cart systems last forever" that's for the simple fact that have no moving parts. Disc based machines have lots of moving parts and simply won't last as long. But... how long do N64 controllers analogue sticks last (you should know, since you had to fix a dozen of them)? How long do NES pin connectors last? How long did the Virtual Boys extremely delicate lenses last? Nintendo does care... about you buying their games. /end.

Our opinion on games seems to be world apart; I own all three current gen consoles, and it's still the 360 I play the most. Why? Because the games are excellent; Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Ninja Gaiden, Dead Rising, Fable 2, Call of Duty, Crackdown, Gears of War... the list is pretty long. I prefer the 360 controller for shooters (nice triggers), it has generally better versions of multiplatform games, exclusive content for a lot of them.

I guess what I'm saying is the good outweighs the bad, for me and for plenty other people. And it seems like Microsoft do care that the failure rate is high, otherwise they wouldn't have spent a billion dollars extending the warranty to three years:

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6173633.html

And then extend it yet again to cover "E74" errors:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969905

Note that a three year warranty is two years more than you get with any other console. :yeah:

Yeah, that's the reason that easrly consoles could damage discs if you changed the position of the console whilst a disc was spinning inside it. But since 2007:

New disc drive in the newer consoles and problem solved.

Every other video game console > XBox 360 & Virtual Boy X_D

The Wii failure rate is still WAY lower than the 360, that post said it may have dirt in it, if you are questioning whether your Wii has dirt in it you probably don't take to good care of it. All systems may have their problems, some just more than others hahahaha. I'm sure Microsoft was forced to due something about their consistently breaking consoles through warranty to make buyers more confident in buying an a 360, besides a warranty doesn't mean your console won't break down in three years, in their case it is a way of apologizing for broken consoles by saying "we know your consoles will break down within three years"
I don't like the 360 obviously, so if you want to play it I'm not criticizing you hahaha I'm just hating on Microsoft and their half ass product, and warning some people that their is a good chance they will have problems.

That's fair enough but I'd assume that most people are already aware through the other posts in similar thread all over the internetz, although it seems to still be people that don't actually own a 360 that are most "concerned". ^_^ I guess it's like saying "don't buy the Wii if you want to play games made by anyone other than Nintendo"; I assume most people already know this.

As for Niniendowarriors Wii, I'm 100% sure he would have taken very good care of it; the dirt mentioned is just general dust that gets inside every console.

A statement often made by people who don't own a Wii.

Indeed. We can also add; "PS3 has no games" and "Gamecube is kiddy" to the mix, as other favorite concerns from non-owners.

This could become a fun game. How many console generalizations can we get in one thread?

Let's see:

1. "Don't get an XBox 360, it will RRoD and explode."
2. "PS3 has no games."
3. "Wii is teh casualz."
4. "Only cool kids gets a PS2."
5. "XBox has only shooters."
6. "GameCube is tiku tiku tiku!"
7. "Beer is for men."

Stereotypes are fun. I can't remember what previous systems had though...

Wasn't "it has no games" a common recurrance? See Saturn, Gamecube, N64, Xbox... basically, anything that wasn't the most successful at the time had "no games".

EDIT: f*ck, just like the 360 console, bang goes the 360 discussion thread!

Ha ha, so true. Now the market-leading system is accused of having no games. It's one more way this generation is ass-backwards.

Did you even read the comments on that video?
All of them say that their new version of the 360 still scratches the disc or that it was a blank cd so it wouldn't have been spinning so it couldn't get scratched.

It doesn't seem like Microsoft fixed the problem.

^ You're right, I totally believe any and all youtube comments. :yeah:

Again, from personal experience, 2+ years of playing two Xbox 360's and none of my discs are scratched. None of my friends discs are scratched. Could it be that we just not dumb enough to move the console with a disc in it? Yeah, it could be that. Maybe I should shake my 360 with a disc in it so that we can agree? ^_^

Could it also be that the people who do have problems like to complain all day long about it, though the people who don't have problems don't speak up so it seems like the situation is far worse than it really is?

The disc scraching isn't a issue at all

Only one game I have got scrached and that's because my friend tripped over the the ethernet cord when the 360 first came out and the 360 toppled over

I have my wii set up on top of my speaker (that is about 3-4 ft high) and my friend tripped over the gamecube controller wire while we were playing and the wii fell from there to the ground and nothing even happened to the disc or the wii. Everything was perfectly fine. :yeah: :wii:

You should keep it closer to a window. :yeah:

Wii's are pretty solid, but then they're smaller, lighter, don't have harddrives and share a lot of their tech with Gamecubes (which were also solid as rocks). 360/PS3 are much heavier and more fragile so there's more chance of damage in a fall.

With the PS3 slim about to hit the market, I wonder if Microsoft will be considering a console redesign...

New 250gb Elite to celebrate Modern Warfare 2. 250Gb! I never seem to have more than 30gb on my 120gb drive...

But it's a bummer they won't sell the harddrive separately.

Seriously, does anyone really need all of that space? Is there demand for it?
How much data does the average game save use? How much space does the average XBox Live Arcade game take up?

If they sold the hard drive separately it would probably be priced at $200, so it wouldn't sell well enough to be worth it.

Game saves usually don't take up much room but I suspect this is aimed at people who will be storing videos and transferring full games to the hard drive (and they're usually 8GB per game). But even then... I can't see how you'd fill it unless you really, really, really tried.

I wish to god that the PS3 didn't require a hard drive install for most games. My 80GB PS3 is already half full. >_<

Hey guys,

i ordered a Xbox 360 Elite at a local electronic market two ago. :360:
Why?
I'm a big soccer/football fan and the latest FIFA PC ports suck! They use a slight rewritten engine of FIFA 06, whereas the Xbox360 and PS3 use a complete new engine since years.
The second and more important reason: I don't wanna miss all the console-only games again. I skipped the PS2/GC/Xbox era already! (Bought the GC last year ago) My last "current generation" console was the N64.

The Xbox 360 should arrive on monday and i am going to spent the first week with playing demos. Could you please post some opinions on the following games i might consider buying:

Banjo Kazooie Nuts And Bolts
Fable 2
Project Gotham Racing 4
Prince Of Persia
Castle Crashers XBLA
Shadow Complex XBLA
Trials HD XBLA
Burnout Revenge
Viva Pinata
Midnight Club: Los Angeles

Thank you in advance! :yeah: (I know i should simply play the demos, but your opinions helped me in the past :) )

Hey mate,

Sorry I never noticed your last post somehow. Anyway, here's my impressions of those games:

Banjo Kazooie Nuts And Bolts - A really good game if you can "let go" of the old banjo games and accept this isn't the same. It's all based around building vehicles to solve problems and the level of customisation is just mind blowing. Think of huge lego blocks that build cars, bikes, hovercraft, aeroplans and jets and add in the charm of the banjo games. It's really good fun.

Fable 2 - good but feels like it could have been better. An enjoyable game but it feels a little bit lighweight in comparison with other titles.

Project Gotham Racing 4 - I preferred PGR3, which can be found for less. PGR4 has more restrictive races but it's still fun.

Prince Of Persia - Good but easy. I thought I enjoyed it but the game never really got me hooked. Try Assassin's Creed instead, it's got the good stuff of Prince of Persia and one of the most beautiful and enjoyable game worlds you'll ever play in.

Castle Crashers XBLA - not played.
Shadow Complex XBLA - not played
Trials HD XBLA - not played but it looks a lot of fun

Burnout Revenge - Really, really nice. Burnout Paradise has a lot more content but Revenge is more straight up crashing, racing and taking other drivers down. This game is dead cheap and it's well worth buying.

Viva Pinata - Still the best strategy game on the 360. I've sunk a silly amount of hours into it. Also very cheap these days and it'll give you many enjoyable hours of gaming.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles - I've owned this for ages but I've not really played it. It's not a bad game, it's just that I've not been in the mood for playing any racers. :-/

Ha! I laughed like mad at that, Who let's a 7 year old play on xbox live? More so by the sounds of it (I can't really understand it to be honest) He was playing alone, Most people have to realize the xbox live communitity is not a "Babysitter" for there kids. Being 14 I can't really complain about kids being on live but 7 is way too young, Halo 3 is rated 15 in the uk and 17 in america and proven that he fell for the "recon" scam he isn't mature enough to play on xbox live

Just gave UFC Undisputed 2009 a spin and well, as an MMA fan, it's nice to see the game get pushed to something much closer to the real thing... but it's a little weird. The controls are mind boggling and complicated. I'm sure if I invest a lot of time I could be really good at it... but I'm not going to go through all that pain. :-8
