Maybe because it's not even a game X_D ... or maybe because the only thing keeping anyone from getting 100% on it is $5 and 30 minutes.
Is it really that short? Speaking of short games, I must urge you to play Portal    on either the 360 or PS3.

*thinks about it*

Hmmm, if there's a game that would definitely give you motion sickness, then Portal would be it. >_< >_> :(

Colin McRae Dirt 2 (What an awful game...)
Really? I get the feeling this was really made for the 360/PS3, the last DIRT was actually pretty good (on the 360 anyway). Could be a case of another bad Wii port?
It's a bad game. Period. Well, not abominably terrible, but pretty bad. The graphics aren't up to par but that's something I easily look past (heck, I'm playing the old Eye of the Beholder!). The game is simply severely gimped probably to make it easier, but that doesn't satisfy my desire. The branch out to off-road racing from rally is also not a very welcome change. The physics are a little jumpy and weird. The car selection very few. And it utterly fails in letting me know why it has the Colin McRae name on the title. It's sad when the best rally game on the Wii is V-Rally 3 on the Gamecube...

You just need to buy a PS3 and play Dirt 2 on that. :yeah: It's supposed to be HEAPS better on the PS360. :w00t:

Just plug it into a standard TV. I've had my 360 hooked up to a standard TV loads of times, works just fine. It looks better on a HDTV but most games are just as playable on a SDTV. :)

I've heard on another forum that DIRT 2 on Wii is terrible. IGN aren't kind to it in their review either, suggesting that it's ported from the PSP:

Yeah. It's pretty bad. I did finish it because even a first grader can beat the crap out of this game. I tried the DS version of Dirt 2 and it has the same set of cars as the Wii version except that game is severely broken. Dirt 2 Wii > Dirt 2 DS. I think I'll go back to V-Rally 3 for my rally fix.

Does anyone know if Richard Burns Rally on Xbox is compatible on the 360?

That's very odd because my own experience of Gears of War on a SDTV has been completely diffferent. I've played Gears on a SDTV quite a few times (on a 21" Sharp portable that's not even widecreen) and it plays fine; just make sure you change the 360 display options to SDTV. A few of the early 360 games have issues with text that's too small on a SDTV (Dead Rising being the main culprit) but Gears isn't one of them.

A quick google search reveals that Gears of War was tested on SDTV's to make sure it played well in standard definition:

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/25/gears-of-war-should-look-great-on-your-crap-tv/

Google doesn't seem to identify any complaints about it being "unplayable" in SD either, so I can't see any obvious reasons as to why your friend had problems. :eh:

The specific warning is that all the text would get muddied up and be unreadable.

Wow, alxbly, impressive list!

I just beat Splosion Man (Xbox Live Arcade). I would say I had the most fun playing this game out of all the games I played this year, even though it was very difficult at times. Only the final boss was very frustrating, so overall, very good game.

Finished in 2009:

Kung Fu Panda (Xbox 360)
We Love Katamari (PS2)
de Blob (Wii)
Psychonauts (PS2)
Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (GBA remake)
Yoshi's Island DS (DS)
Gears of War (Xbox 360)
Lego Star Wars (PS2)
Portal (Xbox 360)
Trauma Center: Second Opinion on Normal difficulty (Wii)
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (GameCube)
Donkey Konga (GameCube)
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (GameCube)
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (Xbox 360)
Splosion Man (Xbox 360)

I don't know how you managed that. Maybe I suck at hammering the 'A' Button but I got really angry at that game. Most of my time online on that envolved swearing at my xbox. Still no games finished but I I don't get distracted I'm hoping to finish doom on xbla. I wish my computer had a floppy drove to play doom 2 though.

Completed Uncharted 2 this morning for teh trofeez. Probably the best game I've played this year EVER. Yes, even better than Dead Space. You can quote me on that. Minus one notable boss fight, it may very well be MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME.

Alxbly, multiplayer. Competitive/cooperative. And you're gonna pwn me, I can tell.

finished this year:
03/01/09 - Braid (still need speed run achievement for 100%)
03/01/09 - Noby Noby Boy ("100%")
03/12/09 - Flower (100%)
03/20/09 - Professor Layton and the Curious Village (100%)
05/25/09 - Street Fighter IV (100%)
06/21/09 - PixelJunk Eden (100%)
08/02/09 - WipEout HD (100%)
08/02/09 - Burnout Paradise (100%... still need 102%)
08/13/09 - LittleBigPlanet (100%)
08/13/09 - inFamous (100%)
09/20/09 - Resident Evil 5 (100%)
09/20/09 - Rock Band 2 (100%)
10/03/09 - Dead Space: Extraction ("Hard" playthrough)
10/05/09 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (100%)
10/19/09 - Uncharted 2: Among Theives (100%... still need multiplayer stats/boosters)

Also added a few to the top of the TO PLAY list.

hope to 100% this year:

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Prince of Persia
Dead Space: Extraction
Tornado Outbreak
Dark Sector
Motorstorm
Picross DS
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Prototype
BioShock/Dead Rising

Admittedly, it's the shortest duration of time taken for me to get a platinum trophy (just under one week!)... but that should seriously speak for how well the game/story draws you in, rather than its length! ;) My first play-through (on hard) lasted about 17 hours... done in less than 5 (or maybe 3?) sittings. The combination of a lack of any sort of load-times (suck it, RE5!!), the save-practically-anywhere set-up, and of course, the amazingly well-written/cinematic story all worked together to keep me playing until I realized I was late for work… from sitting down after dinner to play the game... THE PREVIOUS DAY. Once I was done with the 1st play-through, I think I've spent maybe another 15 hours finding all the treasures, etc. and completing the game on "Crushing" difficulty.

Online, I've probably sunken maybe about 5-10 hours' worth, enough to get a grasp for the more popular competitive/cooperative game modes (in addition to getting utterly pwned)... and I can tell it would be just as easy to sink another 100+ into online play. (I SWEAR I'll reach level 60 someday!!!) I'm sure they're only mimicking what others have done, but Naughty Dog's methods to keep people playing are really effective... their multi-player ranking and upgrades system provide incentive aplenty.

Also, had to add another game to the "to play this year" list...

hope to 100% this year:

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Trine
Prince of Persia
Dead Space: Extraction
Tornado Outbreak
Dark Sector
Motorstorm
Picross DS
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

What is your opinion on these games? The general consensus from what I've seen is that they are good but short, so I was going to get them when I find them for cheap.

Just got 100% on the Guitar Hero World Tour guitar and bass careers (medium difficulty). This was my first plastic instrument game ever, and I have to say it was quite enjoyable. It does get boring quickly though IMO, I'll probably sell this game on eBay now and maybe get Rock Band (which is cheap by now and has a lot of songs I like, both on the disc and as DLC).

Kung Fu Panda (Xbox 360)
We Love Katamari (PS2)
de Blob (Wii)
Psychonauts (PS2)
Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (GBA remake)
Yoshi's Island DS (DS)
Gears of War (Xbox 360)
Lego Star Wars (PS2)
Portal (Xbox 360)
Trauma Center: Second Opinion on Normal difficulty (Wii)
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (GameCube)
Donkey Konga (GameCube)
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (GameCube)
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (Xbox 360)
Splosion Man (Xbox 360)
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (GameCube)

Broken Sword
Ghostbusters
What is your opinion on these games? The general consensus from what I've seen is that they are good but short, so I was going to get them when I find them for cheap.
I played Broken Sword on GBA many years ago (wrote a review of it on Gamefaqs) so with the Director's Cut, I was looking forward to revisiting it.

The Director's Cut on both Wii and DS are almost exactly identical. Of course, the Wii version has fancier animation and the DS has a few puzzles redone using the Touch screen. The new scenes cuts into several sections of the original game and frankly I don't particularly mind them although there is a feeling these "Director's Cut scenes" are being forced in. The Wii is by far my choice since it's much easier to read the text (and with voice acting). Some motion-based puzzles could use more tweaking but that's a minor quibble. The DS is there if you're not willing to spend on the Wii version. It's certainly many times more accessible than the GBA version since it has a hint system and keeps track of how many times you use it. I treat it as some sort of high-score thing. Over all, I liked Broken Sword and that easily extends to these updates. While I feel it could have pushed boundaries much further and do a complete rethink to provide a much richer experience, this edition is sufficient, especially if you have not played the original but like classic point and click games.

Ghostbusters Videogame is pretty lengthy in terms of testing my patience. My brother and I went into playing this game up to the point where it got pretty irritating to see yet even more levels. Truth be told, there's quite a few levels in this game but it's not entirely super long either. It is repetitive and Winston is annoying. If you like the movies, there's a good chance you'll have a blast with this game, especially if you tag someone along for the ride. It's good but not great.
