Battle Tanx: Global Assault :D

That isn't one you usually see as someone's first N64 game. Do either of you remember what your first impression of it was?

Super Mario 64 -I'm pretty sure I had my first erection to that game.
TMI dude, TMI. I think you misread the question, it wasn't "What was the first game to give you an erection?".

Haha. I know. I was just attempting to portray the excitement that game gave me. It was like no other ;)

I thought it was just awesome, as I still do. Since I got an N64 late in it's life cycle, I had so many great games to choose from.

After Battle Tanx: GA I played Starfox 64, SSB, Mario 64, Mario Party, OoT, Yoshi's Story, Goldeneye, and Perfect Dark. Since I was upgrading from a NES, needless to say I was quite impressed.

You went from the NES to the N64? Damn. That must've been insane.

I'd wanted an Nintendo 64 for a long time, but my parents were reasonably against the idea. Instead, mum bought me a Sega Master System second-hand with a fair few games for $50. Then, a Christmas or two later, they got me a PlayStation 1. I loved both of them, but I knew my heart was pining for an N64, so when they finally got me one second-hand after it had more or less gone off the market, I was extremely happy. They got me Super Mario 64, which I'd also wanted for ages. After getting like four stars at my grandmother's house where it was unwrapped, with a monochrome TV, I felt like I hadn't had the full experience, so when I got home, I wiped the file and started again. I think it was worth it.

Then, about a day later, we picked up Mario Kart 64 from another Electronics Boutique, so that was my second game.

Both of these are still two of my very favourite games (with SM64 still holding the no. 1 position), which shows how great much of the N64's library really was.

Cheers,
Franklint

Since Mario 64 came with the system, it does not count. It has been such a long time ago, but I am thinking that it was StarFox 64. It blew me away! After that I can only recall my favorite games on the system, which are still my favorite. And StarFox tops that list.

Are you in Europe Retro Junkie? Because the only Nintendo 64 bundle I know of which included Super Mario 64 was released only in Europe.
What year did you get your Nintendo 64?
I've still never played StarFox 64...

You know, I was thinking that it was a pack in. But you could be right. I think I got mine back in 1997. The year after the launch here in the US. There were no systems the year of the launch, the store shelves were clean. I know that it was one of the games I remember playing at the time and I have no box for it. All of the early games I have a box for. My memory of the time period is a bit fuzzy. I know that it is not a rental purchase, because there are no stickers, it is a very clean game cart. I need to look around and see if I can find my N64 box.

StarFox 64 IS my favorite N64 game. I can say that with no doubts, not begin thinking about any other game.

Mine was Super Mario 64 NTSC (a bit strange as I live in Europe...). It came along with a NTSC N64 Control Deck and matching power adapter (with power transformator) but my uber-old tv didn't have the NTSC system... I was playing Super Mario 64 in white-gray-black for almost 6 months before I got a tv that actually had the NTSC system. ;)

When you play Super Mario 64, do you ever set your television's colour to black and white to get a feel for nostalgia?

One of my friends friends (note, not mine) hated Super Mario 64 because he had to play it with the control stick. D-pad + Playstation = better platformers, according to him. He was, and still is, a douche.

Super Mario 64 and Wave Race 64. Both freakin' awesome games! WR64 is even more hilarious with a gameshark, too!
Even bastards need to let off some steam.
