The disc has been loaded a total of 3 times on my Wii over the last week, and Dead Space: Extraction is already fast approaching on 5th place for total "time played" on my Wii. (Current 5th place is held by Super Mario Galaxy, at 11 or so hours.) I imagine I'll possibly double SMG's time by the time I "100%" DS:E. Me LOOOOVES this game. I only wish you could save your progress more often, like anywhere beyond just the end of a chapter. Currently working through 5 star-ing all the chapters and seeing alternate routes on "Impossible" difficulty. Kinda tricky. Especially when you're trying to get all the misc. pick-ups. REALLY makes me wish it was more "guided FPS" rather than "rail-shooter". Anyways, having a ball with the other weapons... like the original Dead Space... I'm TOTALLY into the force gun. Always a staple in my inventory.

It's been a pleasure to be one of 9000 people who actually bought Dead Space Extraction when it came out. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/21/npd-dead-space-extraction-sold-9-000-copies-in-september/ |

A new IP in a genre that's saturated on Wii and wasn't marketed at all didn't sell well? Someday, this generation will be examined in a business class as an example of how to NOT run an industry. |

You could easily apply the same to Dead Space on the 360/PS3. And it managed to sell 1.4m copies. http://kotaku.com/5240269/dead-space-14-million-sold Will the Wii manage a half, quarter or even a sixteenth of that?

Simply put, Wii gamers are the biggest whining hypocrites on the planet. But I've long accepted that. EA could've done with a better boxart for DS:Extraction though... the original Dead Space boxart, I'd rate at about 11/10. Extraction? Probably somewhere around 3/10.

Or maybe people wanted the original game instead of a watered-down spin-off? I highly doubt the game would have sold better on the XBox 360 or PS3, especially with a lack of marketing. I'm glad that you edited your post alxbly, that last line was something that I wouldn't have thought I'd hear from you. What happened to the mediator of all? I miss him. I'd say that self-righteous HD-whores are the biggest whiners and hypocrites in the universe. Everyone always thinks that the other side is a big whining hypocrite but really it's equally the same on each side. People just always claim the opposite side is worse. |

Is this because of my "real" consoles dig? This is just videogames, no need to take it too seriously. You should be... "never taking anything too seriously". But hey, even if we disagree, thats okay; we can't all be the same person. But no offence is meant. And you KNOW I respect your opinion (why else would I buy games based on your recommendations?). So.. group hug! |

I'm sorry, I guess I'm just getting sick of all of the Wii bashing I've seen out there, quite a bit of it is rather unjustified. And recently more people are resorting to attacking the Wii userbase which is just elitist and low. And maybe there is some truth to what Floorcat says, but can you really blame Wii owners for complaining? Most third-party companies treat them like third-class citizens and not only just throw mostly half-assed scraps of games there way but also expect them to be THANKFUL for it. Of all the whiners out there, aren't the Wii ones the most justified? Plus there's something else I've been a bit stressed about but I won't bore you with that. |

Nah, not really. I think that if a console (any console) doesn't have the games people want then they need to vote with their wallets and buy something else; whether that ends up being another game or another console is entirely up to each person. But third party companies don't have a obligation to make games for any platform, regardless of how popular it might be or how much supposed profit it can make them. Sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to sort out whatever it is. |

The consumers have spoken with their dollars. They want Wii, and they want Wii games. Good ones. The Wii is the market leader. When people buy the market-leading system, they not only expect it to have the MOST games, but also get all the BEST multi-platform games. At least, that's how it has been in the past six console generations, and I see no reason why the values are suddenly completely different. It makes absolutely no logical sense. We've been down this road before ("demographics" and all that other nonsense nobody talked about before they wanted an excuse to not make games for a certain system) so let's not go there again. Also, I'm not sure why you put my quote in your signature, and if it was just to mock me. If it's because of the "quote" from you that I have in my signature, that's more of a dig at myself and how I tend to misquote the things that you say. |

So... is ANYONE actually playing this game??!? Surely there's got to be someone else amongst the other 8998 Dead Space: Extraction owners who visit this forum. 'Cuz I'm seriously having the toughest time trying to find the 3rd weapon pick-up on the 3rd chapter. Totally played through it like 5 times now on "Impossible", five-starring it and finding all other pick-ups no problem... but this one last one... grrrrrrrr...

If I'm gonna be slightly more serious I'd point to Nintendo's strategy for expanding the games market; get people who rarely buy games to buy a Wii. Think of it as a victory for Nintendo cos they make loads of profit and everyone is happy. Right? ![]() I enjoyed the third chapter but I've not thought about playing it any further. Dunno why...

I'd say that has always been Nintendo's strategy ever since the NES. They have always created games for everyone and have tried to pull in people who haven't played games before. The Wii is essentially no different than any previous Nintendo system, it's just that they figured out the best way to achieve the goal they've had since the NES. The Wii actually parallels the NES in many, many ways, though not all of them are positive. Sorry buddy. I'm not really interested in games of this type, though I might get it when it hits the bargain bin. Perhaps there are other forums out there to suit your Dead Space needs? |
