Donkey Kong Country has always been one of the most revolutionary games of all time. Most people say that 64 is too, but I'm not to fond of that game. This, however, is my favorite game of all time. (Or, at least, it's way up there) Great gameplay, graphics, sound, and replayability. Story:8/10 I don't count this one. King K.Rool, the antagonist of the series, captured DK. Diddy, and his new girlfriend, Dixie, are out to save him. Gameplay:10/10 Wow. Extremely fun. As you may of guessed, Enguarde and Rambi are back. Adding to the traditional gameplay, you have the ability to ride them. By doing so, you control them, using their abilities to go through the level. From Rambi's dash ability to Enguarde's superstab, these help you destroy enemies, and sometimes, find secrets. There are few enemies returning, mainly with a different look. There are new animals, such as Rattly the Snake and the underrated Squitter the Spider. The formula from the first is the same. Tag team from Diddy and Dixie (though a main character in the series, DK took her place) going from world to world, going from begining to end, smashing enemies, making jumps over pits. All the same. The tag team however, is slightly different. Dixie can hover above the ground, making her good for beginers. Diddy is faster. By doing so, you can choose which is best for your current situation. What's great about this game is how every levels is unique. I mean, there are levels where you are Riding your Parrot friend Squaws in a thorny maze, and a level which has one of the best music in video game history. Some levels have you bouncing on enemies in a swamp, jumping from crocodile to crocodile, avoiding the swampy pits below. How about a level with strong winds pushing you up in a beautiful (visually and the music) mine shaft? A jungle? A mad dash against a huge bee in a wasp? A roller coaster ride? On a pirate ship? Yes, they are all there, along with other amazing levels. There are new features to be included, such as the wind feature in the Gusty Glade level. There is lava, ice, ropes to climb, roller coasters, and the like. Similar to the other, DK barrels have the opposite monkey when they are captured. When they get captured, you merely lost health, resulting in an enemy hurting you in a hit. You can't use the other monkey's abilities, but once you get them back you can. You also have health back. Sound and Graphics:11/10 Wow, past the limit. This game has arguably the best music in video game history, and this is an SNES game. From the song from the Bramble stages from the humming song of the lava world, you will love every one. Graphics are simply amazing. 3D, bright, vivid colors. Bright and beautiful. Best graphics on an SNES. Period. Total:10/10 No wonder why this is a best seller. Graphics, sounds, and gameplay made this an amazing game. It's sound and graphics were revolutionary. Play this game, best in the series. |
