I'm thinking of slowly downsizing my game collection slightly (mainly the games I know I'm not gonna play).

I'm considering more titles to part with in the future but I want to make sure I get that feeling where I absolutely know I won't play them again.
I know the feeling. I've got a few N64 titles that I suspect I'll never get around to playing but I'm not sure if I wanna sell them. I could do with selling a lot of games on other systems... but I never seem to get around to it.

I don't know the feeling. I know I have lots of games I'll never get around to playing, and even less I'll actually finish, but I'm not throwing in the towel like all you cowards. They are my babies, and you never give up on your children.

If playing N64 carts is the virtual equivalent of spending time with them then you are a bad N64 cart parent. ^_^

Well the deed has been done, the 5 games I've mentioned are now gone from my collection, they went to a good cause, Mario & Luigi 3 :w00t: (well 4 games, I gave Shadow Man to my cousin)

I just purchased "WCW nWo Revenge" this past week. I'm not a wrestling fan and really don't like watching it at all. But this is a fun and enjoyable game.

Reading some of the posts here about people getting rid of some of their games makes me cringe. Even games that I don't play that offten, I would never even think of getting rid of. There was a time that I did get rid of stuff, but I look back now in regret. I want to hold on to these precious relics of yesterday's gaming. :yeah:

Paper Mario in disguise

I have never gotten rid of a video game in my life. Even the ones I hate I know I'll miss if I get rid of them.

Least of all N64 carts. I am about to sell off some duplicates, and may even sell my only copies of some cartridges, if I know I'm going to use the money to start to buy them all back CIB. Mop and I are the only loyalists on the whole damn board!

Quick note: The N64 purchase I regret the most is the UK version of Paper Mario. I had just earned $100 for some easy backstage work I did at some concert, and I wanted Paper Mario CIB. Bid on the Australian version and lost by about a dollar. Thought "meh, it's still PAL, might as well buy the UK version BIN for $111". I still haven't forgiven myself (the boxes and manuals are very different, with the lame UK black border around the cover [no offence, alxbly :) ]). I hate my UK version, and since that day, the price of Australian Paper Mario has increased two-fold, while the UK version sells for nowhere near the same price. Someday I'll get the right copy. Grr.

Anyway.

Peace,
Franklint

Hey, I didn't sell any of my N64 games since I got back a N64 in 2000. It's just I'm playing my games less and less, and games are taking me longer to finish do to that. I'm just now ridding off some of the games I definitely know I'm not gonna play at all. I'm still not sure what games other games in my collection I'm gonna get rid of just yet.

As for the point of the topic, no new games, nor any changes in my collection at the moment.

Just thought I'd list my N64 collection
My N64 list

Star Soldier (feels very unfinished & rushed to market)
Star Wars Racer (I like this, my standard game I am required to play often)
Beetle Adventure racing (one of the best racers on the 64)
Mischief Makers (Treasure, nuff said)
Paper Mario (my favorite RPG on the 64)
Kirby 64 (its ok, I like it)
Ridge Racer 64 ( I am a RR fan, I am so happy to have this as a cart version)
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (great action RPG)
Zelda: Majora's Mask (gold cart with 3D picture, great action RPG)
Mystical Ninja (I liked the SNES one better)
StarFox 64 (My favorite aside from the GC “SF: Assault” one)
Wipeout 64 (I am a Wipeout fan)
F-Zero X (great futuristic racer)
automobili Lamborghini (I simply love this racer)
Scooby-Doo (a must have if you are a fan)
Banjo-Tooie (very good action platformer)
Super Mario 64 (very good, marks the transition of the Mario games to 3D)
Jet Force Gemmi (Treasure run and gun goodness)
San Francisco RUSH (I am a RUSH fan)
Wave Race 64 (great water racing)
Cruis'n the World (good arcade to home conversion)
Rayman 2 (very good action platformer)
Fighters Destiny (hmm...yeah)
Exitebike 64 (good bike racing)
Silicon Valley ( weird, very weird, but good)
Top Gear Rally (good racer)
Top Gear Rally 2 (another Top Gear)
Top Gear Overdrive (I like the Top Gear games)
XG2 (I think it is a good futuristic racer, its just not F-Zero)
SW: Battle for Naboo (for SW fans only)
Bomberman Hero (hmm.. I think he lost something from the 2D days, maybe just my expectations)
Goin' Quackers (fun platformer, could use a little tweaking for older gamers)
Quest 64 (should have listened to the reviews)
Ready to Rumble Boxing (best fighter on the 64, I don't have smash Bros yet)
SW: Rogue Squadron (for me, one of the better SW games on the 64)
Bomberman 64 (still like the old 2D Bomberman better)
Perfect Dark (I get motion sickness trying to play this game)
Yoshi's Story (not as good as the SNES one by a long shot, but still enjoyable)
Namco Museum 64 (I'm a sucker for retro stuff)
Fighting Force 64 (why? I'll have to give this another try)
Diddy Kong Racing(I never could get into this racer)
Mario Party (Where I learned to hate the Princess controlled by the computer)
Bust-A-Move 2 (I love this game)
Tarzan (good game, fun)
Forsaken 64 (wicked fun game)
World Driver Championship (this one racing game where the Expanion pack shows off the graphics)
Goemon's Great Adventure (love this game)
Robotron 64 (very retro feel, I like it)
Castlevania (I really like this game, lots of fun)
WCW nWo Revenge (I am having a lot of fun with this one)
Duck Dodgers! (I just won this one tonight, so it is on its way)
Crusi'n Exotica (I won this yesterday, so its on the way)
Hydro Thunder (I just won this one too, this week)
Dark Rift (To me, this is a very good fighter, I have to keep telling myself that this is a cart)
Rush 2 (This game is a lot better than the first one!)

I'm not sure if this is everything. But I have just added three this week.

World Driver Championship (this one racing game where the Expanion pack shows off the graphics)
I love World Driver Championship, it's probably my favorite motorsport game on the N64. I spent months playing it, and even managed to finish the GT1 championships (although not without a lot of practice... and the right car)! One thing though, those gorgeous visuals are all done without the expansion pak... even the high res mode, which was letterboxed to compensate for not using the pak!

If you want to see a racer that uses the Expansion Pak well then check out Top Gear Overdrive; I couldn't believe how good this game looked when I first played it!  It's a shame that the gameplay is somewhat broken. :-/ >_<

I'll have to agree with alxbly... I LOVED World Driver Championship. EASILY the best racing game on the N64, in my opinion. Yes, I think I even enjoyed it more than Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing! Admittedly, I definitely put more time into the kart racers, but WDC was by far more rewarding! (Managed to beat GT1 with only one 2nd place finish... the rest 1st!!) :w00t: Nothing could beat watching a full replay of a perfectly-executed race!!!

... sounds like you might have the same FPS motion-sickness issue I used to have with Goldeneye/Perfect Dark (and currently have with any current-gen FPS's) <_<

Can't play FPS. It is one genre of video games you will not find in my library of games. And it is strange because I can play a game like Forsaken 64 with no problem. It might be the frame rate that I have a problem with. But still, I find a game more enjoyable if I can see the character that I am controlling.

So if you are a Rush fan Retro Junkie then do you own the other two Rush games on the Nintendo 64? The second one is the best, it has a dozen huge and varied tracks full of shortcuts and secrets to discover, I spent months searching for all of the keys. SF Rush 2049 is good too, but it has more of a focus on multiplayer than it does racing. There are only six racetracks because there are also four stunt courses and eight battle arenas.

I still haven't played World Driver Championship. Alxbly is always praising that game, so I don't know why I've never felt like trying it...

I was trying to get Rush 2 this past week, but I lost the bid. :( I am still looking, glad to here about the second one. I am tight on cash at the moment. The last bunch of games that I have won I've gotten for 99 cents a piece. :w00t: Hydro Thunder for 99 cents.

Last night I bought Getter Love! complete.
Not an easy one to track down and a quite expensive, too...
But I finally got it - after few years of searching :P

BTW - I'm really in collecting jap only (besides PAL/NTSC) games but not all of them - just the ones that I CAN actually play ;)
The current jap highlights (besides the forementioned Getter Love) of my collection are Disney Dance Revolution with Dancing Mat, Bangaio, Bomberman 64 2D, Tetris 64 with Biosensors, Densha De Go with Train Controller and Microphone, Last Legion UX, Zool Majou Tsukai Densetsu and Nintama Rantarou (last three games may not be very good in terms of gameplay but, man are they RARE). All of these games are complete and in mint/good condition. If You like I may add some photos of them here :)

Impressive collection there! It's funny... if you'd been searching for all these titles 5 or so years ago, we might've been stiff competition for each other! :P I wonder if things are pricier now, now that it's been almost a decade since the "death" of the N64...

I am even afraid to think about the amount of money I spent on those japanesee games :P Most of these games are still expensive, but some of them can be bought for lower, somewhat reasonable prices - I've seen Animal Forest, cart only for 28$ BIN on Ebay (maybe it's still there), I spent over 35$ on mine, 3 years ago. Disney Dance Revolution is very rare, Bangaioh is still expensive but not as rare as one may think, so is Bomberman 64 Arcade Edition. Rare oddities that probably nobody heard about like Last Legion or Nintama Rantarou are laughably expensive when they pop up on Ebay...but we all know that the price is not always an indicator of the quality, right?

BTW - my collection => here
The list hasn't been updated lately but I will do it soon :)

Some pics of the jap only games that I have (3 free spots are for Getter Love, Robot Ponkotts and some Mahjong :P ) can be seen here and here .

:o Nice collection, man! :D I was building up a nice collection of Japanese N64 titles a few years ago but stopped when I realised I wasn't really playing them (i've no knowledge of Japanese so some of the text heavy games are really difficult to get into). That said, there's still a lot of titles that interest me; Getter Love, Neon Genesis Evangelion and others. One day I'll get back into N64 collecting properly! :)

Make sure you let us know when you get new games, I'd love to see them. :) Who knows, it might even prompt me into collecting again! ^_^

Those pics don't do justice! If you've got them complete then you gotta show off the boxes and manuals as well!

Getter Love! is one of those weird games which never had a chance of being released in North America. Because Americans have bad taste. No really, they do. Budweiser beer proves this.

The only Japanese games I have any real interest in is Tetris 64 but I don't think I'm willing to pay the prices it fetches.

Unfortunately not all of these games have boxes/manuals :( But when I get the last desired jap only game (be it Robot Ponkotts or Mahjong) I will take out the boxes and manuals (they are hidden in the closet) and add some better quality pictures of them :)
Oh, I forgot - I will have to rebuy Sin And Punishment as I only have bare cart and I have to get it mint complete :P (back then I was soooo excited about this game that I grabbed the first one I saw on Ebay, I didn't care if it was bare cart - I just had to play it on my tv as soon as possible ;)
I'm also thinking about getting Super Mario 64 Rumble Edition and japanesee version of Star Fox 64 (because of the INCREDIBLE voice acting :)

I like it. It is an average N64 3D platformer. The thing that puts it over the top for me is the humor and looney toon characters.
Got these two in the mail today. I have been surprised by Dark Rift, I really like it.

Great collection! :) Awesome titles!

Try to get Sin and Punishment from eBay, but don't go for BINs as they are pretty high - at least 40$ for CIB. Go rather for bidding auctions, if You are lucky You will be able to get it under 30$ CIB.

BTW - two days ago I got my Getter Love (full boxed) and Bakushou Jinsei 64 (loose cart). I'm still waiting for Yakouchuu II and Doraemon 3 (yes, I finally managed to get my hands on that one :D )

I'm guessing you live in one of the PAL regions? In North America the Funtastic series of coloured controllers doesn't come in boxes but instead is sealed in plastic, so you should consider yourself lucky that they were sold in boxes in your region.
