I added you both. Here's my YouTube channel. Most vids are me playing guitar, mostly covers but also some of my own material. The other vids are mostly random stuff, including some old DOS games.

Thnx spikie :)
In the near future I will re-record some of my older video's (including Last Resort) because now I've come up with a new method to record sound and video differently. As you can hear in my newer vids, the sound quality (imo) is A LOT better than the older vids. That's because on the older vids I used the sound recorded by the videocamera itself, where in the new vids, I place a mic in front of my guitar amp, record the sound on my computer and use that to replace the sound recorded by the video.

Also, I'll try to watch some vids of both of you when I have some time. I'm interested in what stuff you've got :)

EDIT: Spikie, you got some nice vids. Halo Blow me away looked awesome, and I lol'd @ EA Skate vid
Okamikee, you have some really professional vids! I really liked the Twilight Princess and the Assassin's Creed vids :)

Keep up the good work, both :yeah:

My movies are lame.
Cept this one, it has Starfox 64 N64 references:

I've always loved the Tin-Tin Dubs, but this one contains massive N64 references!

I've sent the lot of you a friend invite. :)

I'll check out your videos later when I have more time, probably sometime when I've just sat down with a good meal and there's nothing on the telly.

Here's my own channel:

http://www.youtube.com/user/Mopiitup

Most of what I have uploaded are gameplay videos of a few games, such as Mario Kart Wii and Mario Super Sluggers. I have a few other videos which are compilations from games, such as every character's tournament-winning celebrations from Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, retro track comparisons from Mario Kart Wii, and a few others.

Here's my description of my channel:

"This channel is full of random videogame videos which were most likely created at 4AM when I probably should have been sleeping. As such, they would probably be best watched at 4AM. :) If you're a gamer, you've probably been faced with the dilemma of eating food whilst playing games. Well, not to worry; there are plenty of videos of videogames on YouTube, so you can now chow down and experience a game without getting your controllers all greasy!

My own channel focuses on Nintendo games... or should I say Mario games, as that is all I have uploaded so far? I am endlessly obsessed with Mario and related material; my favourite character is Toad and Birdo. No I will not choose just one. Okay fine, my favourite character is Birdo... and Toad. It is likely that at least one of the two will appear in all of my videos, so if you despise Mario games, you've come to the wrong Internet!"

My first YT vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGv3ay6hDcQ

It's a short film (had to be under 1:30 mins) I made with a group of friends as a school project last year. Yes, it's very amateurish... but still :)

Mop_it_up, I know we've discussed this before but what do you use to transfer video to your PC?

A USB capture device. It is a little box that has the yellow/red/white composite inputs on it. It came with a program to record from it and also some simple video editing software.

How long does it take to turn a video from a VHS video to a youtubez video?

It can take a while depending on the length.

Rather than scouring over the tape to find the specific races I want to record, I just record the entire tape. I don't need to be there whilst it records so I just set up the VCR and come check on it in a hour or however long the tape is. Though I can't run anything else on the computer when it is recording or else the resulting video will be choppy. If you have a more capable computer then maybe this wouldn't be an issue for you.

After it is finished, I open the video using the editing software and locate the portion of the video which contains the race I want to record. I cut out the rest of the video, and then convert the video to DivX format because it uses up a lot less space than the raw video does. This conversion process takes about five times as long as the video length, so a 3-minute race takes 15-minutes to convert. After that, it takes slightly more than twice as long as the video length to upload to YouTube, so that 3-minute video would be about 7 minutes. Again, I can't do anything else when converting or uploading, or else the video could become choppy or de-synced.

So, yeah, it can take some time, but fortunately I don't need to be there for most of it. I just click a few things and go.

Are you considering getting a capture device?

Yeah, but I was wondering if it's easier to just get a DVD recorder instead, that way i could record to DVD then just dump the DVD video onto my PC. It would still need to be converted to a suitable format for youtube though...

A USB capture device would be cheaper but it seems like it takes a lot of time to get the video to PC.

EDIT: posts moved to a more relevant topic.

That wouldn't be much faster. The only part you're eliminating is recording to the computer. Plus you'll be going through a lot of DVD's that way unless you get the re-writable kind, which are usually worse quality.

You could just connect your system directly to the capture device and play on your computer monitor. Then you don't have to go through the step of recording onto a VHS/DVD.

How does the capture device work? Have you tried a direct conection? I worried it would lag... and I dunno if I have a way to record video on my PC. :-8 >_<

There is a slight delay with a direct connection but I think that's just because of my computer's lack of processing power. I know other YouTubers who have their systems connected directly when they record and they don't have problems.

The capture device should come with software to record so that shouldn't be a problem. Just stay away from anything really cheap because that might not include software.

Is this the kind of thing I should look for:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grabber-designed-capture-source-editing/dp/B000S0QIPI/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1250892071&sr=8-12

It looks like that should work. It says it comes with editing software but I'm not sure how recording works. It says there's a button on the device itself which you use to start/stop the recording; that's not how mine works, it's all controlled with the recording software. So that makes me wonder if it has recording options such as a resolution setting and all of that, or does all of that come afterward with the editing software?

Unfortunately I don't know much about these things. I didn't shop around for mine because it was a gift, so I don't know what's out there. I guess you'll have to do some research.

Mine is called the DVD Xpress DX2:

http://www.adstech.com/products/USBAV-709-EF/intro/USBAV-709_intro.asp?pid=USBAV-709-EF

At $90 it seems kind of expensive, though it does work well.

Here's my channel.
This is a video on it that many of you will probably be interested in.
I only have this one video, but expect the following at some point:
More gameplay videos (glitches etc.)
Awesome social footage (recordings of my friends and I patrolling the streets and doing cool things)
Lip sync music videos of awesome songs
Possibly some of my own singing if I can doctor the sound enough to make me sound good

Cheers,
Franklint
