Hey, my name is Scott and I found this forum when I was inquiring about hori n64 controllers on digitpress.com and a guy linked me over here. I have been kinda neglecting my n64 the past year, but played again a few days ago and had a lot of fun. I played some conkers bad fur day multiplayer against bots. The main thing discouraging me from playing my n64 a lot now is the very short cord length of the controllers, but I will soon buy an extension wire to fix that. The other thing that is somewhat holding me back is that all my n64 controllers have worn out joysticks (why I was so interested in that hori controller). I have heard that you can buy replacement joysticks? Can anyone help me out with that? But yea, I grew up playing n64. It was my very first home console and I put countless hours into it. I played an insane amount of goldeneye, perfect dark, fzero x, and conkers bad fur day. I only have a humble collection of n64 games right now, but intend to increase that with time. I missed out on a lot of great n64 games since I was a little kid back then and only played whatever my parents would buy me. I have recently gotten into uploading gameplay footage on youtube.com. I have been focusing on ps2 games, but will upload some n64 gameplay when I get a chance as well ( http://www.youtube.com/user/Lazyhoboguy So, looks like I will enjoy talking about the old n64 on this site. Here is my video game collection for those interested in seeing it. http://lazyhoboguy.webs.com/ Edited by lazyhoboguy, Oct 13 2009, 02:26 PM.

Hooray Newbies! I've heard of replacement analogue sticks being sold on eBay before but I don't know if they currently are or how much they sell for. You might just have to get new controllers with good sticks. And if you do, be sure to grease them up so that they last. |

Hi there, It sounds like what you really need is a good condition official controller that you can lubricate so that it lasts. The Hori Pad Mini is alright, but it's not as good for first person shooters and the buttons are too close together for my liking. Hope you like our forum.

Thanks, I got maybe 8 of them within the last year by looking around in thrift stores. I have not had a chance to play most of those ones I picked up yet though, like starfox, mario golf, the star wars pod racing game. |

Welcome. You will enjoy yourself. As per buying replacement sticks, they're reasonably easy to get hold of, and quite cheap. If you don't want to bother opening up your controller, cleaning the stick and putting it back together, you can usually get replacement sticks for about USD$9-10 off eBay. Make sure that the auction says that they are official, original N64 sticks, or else they will probably be rubbish. Lots of places seem to be out of stock at the moment (here and here), but you can get rather expensive ones from Amazon. Otherwise, if you're happy just to re-lubricate your current controllers, there is a good guide here. Have fun! Cheers, Franklint |

Oh hai! Lucky for me I bought a heap of control sticks (just the sticks not the controllers) from a local store and now have 7 near perfect N64 controllers. ![]() You can find them online too, but its so worth the little effort of taking your N64 'trollers apart and putting in a new stick, if you get anywhere near the amount of fun I;ve had just this year alone playing multiplayer games.

Yea I really need to spend some time looking into getting new controller sticks. Just haven't had time to think about this lately. |

I just got a n64 controllers extension wire off of amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A7Y18K/ref=oss_T15_product ) and I tested it for about 5 minutes with Super Smash Bros. It seems to work fine and I noticed no input lag. So hopefully I can get back into my N64 again now.
