Maybe, but it is still something which should have been included in the Wii in the first place, or held off for Nintendo's next system. Also, the last thing the Wii needs is yet another accessory to buy; $60 for Wiimote + Nunchuk is a bit pricey as things are.
Very true. I read somewhere before that Nintendo could have had it embedded in the Wii remote for launch but it made the controller "too expensive". I hope they produce the add-on at the same time make newer Wii remotes with the technology embedded.

Very cool. Lucas Arts' Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings will feature a bonus classic game "Indiana Jones - Fate of Atlantis" as a Wii-exclusive bonus. To think I'm already looking forward to the new Indiana Jones.

And who reported that Dead Space is coming to Wii? I don't know anything about that game... guess I should look it up.
This is only the HUGEST "BLASPHEMY!" the world has ever known. That's right Mop, your marked now. :pika:

Well, it remains to be seen what EA does with this IP. We should use the Wii kid instead of the N64 kid for that emoticon.

Well, it remains to be seen what EA does with this IP.
I'm so blindly in love with the game, and the IP itself, that I'm overwhelmed with obligation to pick up a copy of this on/before launch. It could even be "Imagine! Dead Spacez" and I'd pick it up before people knew it existed yet. I don't know where RMC gets the idea that it will probably be a straight port, but even if it is, I swear I'd play-through/100% it, if even just for the Wii'd controls.

ZOMG I might even have to play-through/100% the Xbox 360 version to hold me over!!

You seem fairly excited about it. I'd rather hope EA builds a different entry in the Dead Space chapter than a straight up port. That just sounds like the beaten old path. I also tend to think where the Wii isn't the leading SKU, ports don't bode well, although I actually had a great time with Star Wars Force Unleashed on the Wii than on the 360.

Not to try to overhype this, but seeing that EA has Dragon Age and Jason Bourne franchise under its wings, I hope it means we'll see some decent Wii releases.

I think though that the Ludlum Entertainment license covers for Ludlum's literary work and I do not believe the Bourne films are covered by the license. I think that EA would not own the license for any of the Bourne films and chances are, Parsifal Mosaic (the new Bourne film) is also not covered, unless the license makes specific note of this (along with the film studio signing off on it).

Either way, I hope this opens the floodgate for Wii games.

If they do happen to come close to breaking even, they'll likely have just released another overpriced system of which they've sunk billions into. Now that's a winning strategy.

Is that as opposed to re-releasing the same console but with motion controls? And then charge you blind for accessories and add-ons? Nah, surely people would never be stupid enough to pay money for that obvious rip off. ^_^

Back on topic, I can see this being a great year for the Wii. Third party developers finally seem to be trying something other than party games. Between Dead Rising and Dead Space, Wii will have plenty to keep the scares going. Double sweet. :D

This one looks about right. The Wii trailer, as suspected, is not representative of the Wii graphics. But, so far, it doesn't look that bad. We'll need footage to determine if the game plays okay though.

It's clearly a winning strategy seeing as 50 million people have purchased one. You bought one. :P
Wait, crap, so did I! >_<

Anyways, has anyone here heard of the game project called Winter? According to this source, publishers didn't want to pick it up because they aren't sure there's an audience for it on Wii:

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=17574

In light of these recent announcements like Dead Space, might we soon see this game surface as well?

There's already an update on it from Gonintendo saying there's renewed interest on the title, but n-space is operating at full cylinders right now and cannot attend to Winter. I'll try to look for Gonintendo's news clip.

EDIT:
While I'm still looking for it, bumped into this game.

Onslaught for the Wiiware. Hmm...

EDIT2:
Gonintendo

As you guys know, we’ve been doing everything we can to find Winter a publisher. IGN, GoNintendo, and a number of other outlets have been pushing the Winter petition as much as possible. We’ve also been talking to various industry insiders to try and raise awareness for the title. Seems like so far, so good!

I’ve been chatting back and forth with n-Space president Dan O’Leary about Winter, and just this weekend he has given me a statement to share with all of you. I think you’ll find it quite positive!

The interest in and support of Winter has been amazing to witness. The whole thing has meant a lot to the team. The internet is so full of haters that it’s really refreshing to see all the positive response and the petition is quite amazing in itself.

We have had some new and revived interest from publishers for the title, but it’s not something we’ve aggressively pursued just yet. n-Space is currently in the midst of closing three titles - 7 skus plus localizations - so we’re pretty swamped right now. We’ll start some more aggressive follow-up in the near future. I suspect we will have some interesting conversations. - n-Space president Dan O’Leary

There’s the proof right there…this petition is definitely working. Publishers are paying attention to campaign, and they can see that we’re interested in Winter.

Now that we’ve made a big first step, it’s time to promote Winter more than ever! The petition will continue on, and I’d really like to see you all sign it. We also have some other goals that we’re working towards, and I hope to bring you more good news this week. We are closer than ever before…so don’t let up now!

Huge thanks to Mr. O’Leary for taking the time out to talk to us. It is very much appreciated, and I’m delighted to see the great news. Of course, I have to give a thank-you to all of you guys as well. You’ve been spreading the word on this petition, and it’s definitely working. None of this would be possible without you. I can’t tell you how proud I am of all of you guys…I knew we could achieve great things by working with wonderful people like you.

Just remember…the fight isn’t over yet! Once again, I’ll keep you updated with new information as soon as I can. Big things are brewing!

For a 2007 tech demo, it does look pretty good. They should bloody hell bring it to the US. Just like those other games like Disaster: Day of Crisis, and Fatal Frame IV.

Exciting times seem to be ahead for the Wii. I think it's safe to say that longtime Nintendo fans across the world are fed up with the way the Wii's catalogue has shaped up to be, and developers seem to be taking advantage of the demand for more hardcore games.

Don't forget Captain Rainbow, that is a game I'd love to see released outside of Japan. Unfortunately I don't believe it will ever happen, even because of its title alone.

Yeah. Especially when you consider No More Heroes 2, Sin and Punishment 2 and Punch Out. They are starting to take things a little bit seriously.

Whilst the sequels to No More Heroes and Sin and Punishment should be good, I still think Punch Out could go either way. It would be easy for Nintendo to make it an extended version of Wii Sports boxing (i.e. a simple game aimed at a casual market) to maximize sales.

I'm looking forward to seeing a Wiii-developed Pikmin game though (I know Miyamoto said recently that one was in development). And F-Zero must surely also be on the horizon... no announcement yet though. :(

We'll see where Punch Out heads. I agree I could see it the way you say it may.

The Wii-developed Pikmin game is not officially announced (only the New Play Control one so far), and if we're counting the not officially announced titles, you can also count the Wii-specific Zelda game.

F-Zero, I wasn't a big fan of it. Yeah, call it blasphemy. I've always mistaken F-Zero, Extreme-G, and Wipe Out. Sorry. Game identity crisis IMO.

I think I missed this one. I vaguely remember Captain Rainbow and I remember something very wacky and strange in a very Japanese way.

I think chances of such weirdness getting to the US are rather slim. Makes me think if I should go through an import store and buy it now. Maybe while I'm at it, grab Disaster: Day of Crisis as well. Just not sure how the language barrier holds up.

In addition to the wackiness and homophobia decreasing its chances of coming to North America, it also has some, uh... "mature" content that wouldn't go over so well in the US. I've heard a rumour that it may get released in Europe, but it is simply that: a rumour.

Disaster: Day of Crisis got released in the UK... actually, it seems that it's been released everywhere but the US. That makes me wonder if it's the content of the game that's been a factor in it not being released in the US?

Reviews seemed to suggest that it's a decent game. I'll look for it the next time I'm looking to rent a game.

I hear Disaster didn't make it in the US because it didn't sell well in Europe. Well, it also didn't sell well in Japan, but with virtually no advertising effort, I think it's understandable why it didn't sell at all.

^ Considering that the game is set in the US, I'm surprised that it wasn't released there first. Maybe they were "testing the waters" first by releasing it in Europe? I don't mean in sales terms but more in terms of the reaction to the events that unfold within the game.

This doesn't make sense to me. This reminds me of how Sin & Punishment was created with the North America audience in mind, got released first in Japan, then wasn't released in North America because it sold poorly in Japan. Seriously, where's the logic there? Was it on sabbatical or something?

This is about all I can find on Disaster:

http://wii.kombo.com/article.php?artid=12887

Seems like they are "testing the waters" first by releasing it in Europe. The first comment made is probably true as well:

"If this game has a chance to sell well ANYWHERE, it's in the USA. This shouldn't even be up for discussion."
