I tested Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and the same thing happened! The camera would move to the left when I held down the c-stick to the right and vice versa.

Is that what happens in Mario Sunshire as well? I just tried out Sunshine there using my own controller to see how it works for me. When I push the stick to the right the cammera rotates right around Mario (anti-clockwise).

You're saying that doesn't happen with you? And that you've tried two controllers, both with the same results? Very strange.
It's a possibility that that's simply how the camera rotation works... I know most games these days (that I've seen) allow you to invert the Y-axis, and many times, the X-axis as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the C-buttons were arranged that way by the developers. It's very disorienting when you're used to things the other way!! (ModNation Racers' X-axis camera is this way, and I don't think you can change it.) :(

Does anyone know how to check the friend code for the Wii? I've never gotten a chance to play online since I keep telling my friends I still don't know how to look up my friend code :-/
You don't need to give someone your Wii friend code (known officially as the "Wii Console Number") in order to play online. Each game has a specific friend code, which is what you will have to give people, and must enter in their code as well. If you can't locate this code within a game, check the game's manual to see where it is.

I think I may have worded some of that wrong. I'm capable of playing online because I have my network setup and all that. But I haven't actually played a game yet since I wanted to share my FC with someone (since the Wii isn't setup like Xbox Live where it's easier to find someone), but I never knew my number.

Anyway, thank you for showing me how to get to it. I'm gonna have to write this number down.

I also discovered a way to keep that cool blue glow in your Wii's disc slot. If you email yourself a message and never open it, it'll stay like that. Send a message to "w[friend code]@wii.com" and you'll get it within a few hours.

And I'm saying that the Wii number is not used to play online games. Each and every game has an individual friend code, and that is the one that you need to exchange. The Wii number is used mainly to send messages.

Oh.... Well that's stupid. So like, how are you supposed to memorize your ID for each game if you want to play something with your friends? That's the worst thing to come from Nintendo since the Virtual Boy.

Oh is that how the x-axis is supposed to rotate?? I thought it would be like the default settings on most third person shooters on the 360 where moving the c-stick to the right would cause a clockwise rotation of the camera around Mario!
This is really strange... I guess I'll have to get used to it... >_<

I suppose controllers with two analogue sticks were relativly new at the time and few real "standards" had been established yet.

HOLY MOLY!!!
(Wish I had that much in monies/gift cards during x-mas... ever!)
...but I suppose I make up for it now, buying whatever I want whenever I want. <_>

Think you might be down for some online Goldeneye/Tetris multiplayer sometime down the road?

Well, pretty much everything I bought was on sale, so it wasn't its normal price (and the Wii came with a $50 gift certificate which went towards the games, which is part of how I justified it). But yes, all my relatives like to give gifts, but no one really knows what to get me so they all give me money or a gift card. I basically buy my own presents, another way Christmas was a lot more fun when I was a kid.

As for online gaming, I bought Goldeneye pretty much for the multiplayer, so I'll definitely be up for that sometime. I'm not sure when though, as I haven't cracked the shrink wrap yet, and don't know when I'll get to it. I didn't buy Tetris for the online capability so I don't know if I'll want to play that online, but I'm not ruling it out as a possibility.

Good call on Donkey Kong Country Returns. I think this one is my favorite in the series, aside from some control issues.

Mop, I'm just letting you know that I have Black Ops, If you ever want to play some time. I've actually been playing wager matches and combat training way more than regular multiplayer though...

Unfortunately, there's no easy way, and there never will be. Due to a combination of the security measures taken on the system and the way the Shop Channel works, it isn't technically possible to copy games, even if they wanted to allow it. From accounts I've read, you can send in two systems to Nintendo and have them transfer over games and data from one system to the other. Note that it's "transfer" and not "copy," so you can't keep the games on the old system. The service itself is free, but you'll have to pay shipping both ways.

There are, however, homebrew methods to copy games and data, which is probably the route I'd take. It's a pretty complicated process though, since it involves cracking encryption, but at least it's there. I think it may just be a backup system for me, in case something goes wrong with my old one. So far, the only thing I've used it for is Netflix.

But hey, Europe gets cooler black bundles than what we have. Here's one with your favourite game!

yep. for once we get the better deal. unless you also consider the price of course.
A $199 Wii will cost 199 Euro over here. that's almost 30% more expensive

ive bought the Mario Kart pack. Already have the games of course.
BTW: the games included in these packs are special editions with different catalog number and simple cardboard sleeve.

I wouldn't buy one, Mop, but thanks for the heads up anyway. :) Goldeneye was the only Wii game I played in 2010 and there's nothing on Wii that interests me just now so there's no point in me buying a black one just cos it looks a bit prettier.

Just out of curiosity, how much have you looked? I'm a little surprised that you would have absolutely no interest in games like No More Heroes 2, Sin and Punishment Star Successor, Red Steel 2, Trauma Team, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Endless Ocean Blue World, Rune Factory Frontier, Metroid Other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Punch-Out!!, and probably some other games I'm forgetting. But if you've been enjoying a string of games on the XBox 360 then I could understand not wanting to start buying games for another system even if it had a few things you wanted.

No More Heroes 2 - never finished the first one
Sin and Punishment Star Successor - Looks okay, dunno if I'd ever get around to playing it though.
Red Steel 2 - thought the original Red Steel was utter sh*t
Trauma Team - never finished the first one
Donkey Kong Country Returns - 2D platformer; the retro feel of New Super Mario Bros (& NSMB Wii) didn't last long for me, I got bored TBH, I can't see me being interested in this for long either.
Endless Ocean Blue World - interested. But... I haven't finished the first one... or bought the second one yet. :(
Rune Factory Frontier - Puzzle game? Not really very interested.
Metroid Other M - 2D platformer, see above.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Not finished the first one,
Punch-Out!! - Wii Sports boxing was my least favorite of the games, so I've never been particularly excited or interested in this.

I've bought plenty of Wii games, played a few but ended up shelfing most of them and selling on a whole lot of them. They always seem to sink to the bottom of my priority list. The great unplayed!

I think I stopped looking about this time last year. Nintendo have tried something quite different with Wii and that's to their credit. However, I don't feel like there's anything there I want anymore.

Rune Factory Frontier is a cross between Harvest Moon and a dungeon crawler. If I remember rightly, you like Harvest Moon, so I thought you'd be interested. Also, Metroid Other M is not a 2D platformer, it's a 3D adventure/shooter that's much more action-oriented than previous games in the series.

I guess it really is true that your taste has changed. I didn't want to believe it, but I guess I should stop asking.

That's the thing, my taste hasn't changed. Favorite games on N64; Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Zelda, Shadow Man, Banjo Kazooie, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Jet Force Gemini, Rogue Squadron. Favorites on Gamecube; RE4, Timesplitters 2, Wind Waker, Hitman 2, Rogue Leader, F-Zero X, Pikmin, Chibi Robo. I've always liked first person shooters and big, 3D adventure games (even those with a twist, such as Chibi Robo). :) I'm not seeing much like that on Wii, and better examples on 360/PS3. The only difference is I'm not playing the latest Mario because I'm the only person on Earth who thinks Super Mario Galaxy isn't as good as Sunshine (and that's mainly down to the controls and camera).

Just because I'm not playing games on your favorite console doesn't somehow make me a changed person. ^_^ Remember, I jumped a long time ago, before you had even heard of me and long before N64 Forever. :P

I see, for some reason I thought you were more of a Nintendo fan before, but there are a lot of third-party games on your list, so I guess not. I think Nintendo have made some of their best games on the Wii, so if people don't like them anymore than the only thing I can think of is that their taste has changed. But if you were never that interested in the first place, then it makes a whole lot more sense.

I also know some people who like Super Mario Sunshine over Super Mario Galaxy, though it is because Super Mario Sunshine has larger worlds to explore. But you're not along on that.

Are you going to get the new Zelda when it comes out?

I was more of a Nintendo fan before... due to me playing and liking far more of their games on previous consoles. For the past two generations I got pretty much every major release and most of the not-so-major niche titles as well, such as Chibi Robo, Animal Crossing (imported before it even released in the UK), Doshin the Giant, Pikmin, etc. They've made lots of games I love but on Wii there's only Animal Crossing City Folk, Twilight Pricess and Wii Sports. You know my feelings on Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy (good games but not great) and Wii Sports Resort falls into that same category. I'm only talking about first party games here, but it illustrates my point; those six are the only first party Nintendo titles I own for the Wii.

That makes perfect sense to me and I reckon that's another reason that I preferred Super Mario Sunshine.

I don't know yet. The focus seems to be on combat (from what I've seen) so it'll be interesting to see how they balance that with other gameplay elements.

To be fair, what we've seen of Zelda is not much. There are numerous reasons they showcased only the combat at the last E3, which includes that being about the only part of the game they've created at the time. It's also because the combat in Zelda is always the part of it that lacked, so they want to show that it's better now. The combat uses a similar engine to Wii Sports Resort's sword fighting game, which was basically a test for it.

There's still not much known about the game so who knows what it'll end up being, but I don't think it's going to be focused on action, they're just adding engaging combat in with all the other Zelda elements.

Punch Out isn't a standard boxing game, its a puzzle game really, its all about figuring out patterns and countering said patterns with timing

Nice grabs Mop

I'm really wanting to pick up a copy of Donkey Kong Country Returns sometime soon

Also interesting rumor on Neogaf I read just a moment ago, apparently that long lost Kirby GCN game revealed at e3 '05 is apparently still on its way, longest delay on releasing a game ever? (besides Duke Nukem Forever)

I'm trying to think of a fighting game that isn't about patterns and countering said patterns with timing. That applies to pretty much all of them, unless you're button bashing.

Actually, in a looser sense, you could apply the same logic to nearly any gaming genre... no?

I suppose you could but overall I say Punch Out would be worth getting, especially if you enjoyed the original on the NES and to a looser extent Super Punch Out on the (wait for it) Super Nintendo.
