nintendo have gone the wrong route with the nunchuk / wii mote i have three wii games that i consider worth having, those are new mario bros wii, donkey kong country and skyward sword mario is crippled because the wiimote only has two action buttons. so no screwdrive anymore. donkey kong is nearly unplayable because you have to "shake" the controller to roll. this is very bad game design, only implemented to have some use for the wii mote. it doenst make the gameplay any more fluid than it was on the snes metroid other m was another game that was basically destroyed by the wii mote system. the boss battles were absolutely dire, because you had to aim at the screen to shoot missiles, in combination with the horizontal position to run. i have sold this game as i consider it one of the worst games i ever owned. nintendo should gave stuck with the gamecube controller. but in their effort to be innovative, they managed to alienate even more people. Things have changed a lot ever since I last posted here. Turns out the Wii effectively died and I have a lot of games I am looking at for the platform. Plan on getting Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Okami and No More Heroes soon. Hopefully Xenoblade Chronicles as well. Edited by astarisborn94, Oct 21 2013, 01:04 AM.

Its a pivotal point for people who want to collect for the Wii as there are going to be a lot of games out there to be had for cheap. At the same time, there are also going to be games like Xenoblade Chronicles that you mentioned that will (most likely) continue to rise in price and demand and might be harder to get at a reasonable price. Looks like the prices on eBay are down slightly since Gamestop released more copies recently so maybe that will make it a little easier on the old wallet.

Actually Red Xenoblade has been crashing for about a month or so now since Gamestop decided to reprint it and sell them for a ridiculous $90 used. After that they started going down and now with it being $40 this black friday (along with Metroid Prime Trilogy Reprint) it's down to almost 50. Now is definetley the time to pick both up as eventually the demand will go back up |

This news makes me sad. Wii discontinued in Japan Although to be quite honest, the newer non-backwards compatible Wii's weren't very desirable anyway. The original units that support GameCube software and peripherals will probably remain valuable if for no other reason than the fact that they're great for Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl tournaments.

Any independent verification of these? I saw this article and thought it might be someone's wishful mockup . . . . Hoping for some confirmation because they look awesome! |

Having a WiiU I want to make use of it's Wii backwards compatibility. For that I'm going to need Wiimotes and nunchucks. As I begin to study the market to see how much I should pay for used (or new) wiimote+nunchucks I noticed a scary amount of third party controllers! I need your help to know what I should know about these. Are any of them really worth trying (close to the originals) or should I just make it simple and go with Nintendo controllers only? |

My advice is to always stick with official Nintendo products. Also, if you're going to play Mario Kart Wii and/or Super Smash Bros. Brawl then I recommend picking up the Classic Controller Pro which works very well with those two games. |

Grizz, thanks for the suggestion. I actually had planned to buy a pro controller but I thought I might go with the WiiU one. That's a smart move, right? Assuming they play the same with the Wii games I can only expect it to be an improvement from the Wii pro controller. TRS, yeah... Since I'm a bit tight on money, I was thinking about getting a new WiiU Pro controller and used Wiimotes. The Mario/Luigi ones would cost me 46€. I'm hoping I can get Wiimote+Nunchuck for... 15€ tops

Yes they do. This is from Nintendo's website: "Simple. Intuitive. Easy to use. The Wii Remote™ Plus is a unique controller for the Wii and Wii U video game systems." |

Wii Mini Coming to Retail Stores in the US It's going to be bundled with Mario Kart Wii and sell for $99. I'm not a fan of the Wii Mini concept as it lacks support for component output which is simply unacceptable given how affordable HDTV's are nowadays. To my mind the Wii Mini would have made more sense if it restored the GameCube backwards compatibility lost on the latest iteration of the standard Wii consoles. That decision would have made it the ideal Wii solution for the Super Smash Bros. competitive scene which is still thriving thanks to Melee and Brawl. |

ill have to double check that in-store as all website says the contrary. dont forget there's ZERO online capability. it's way overpriced for this. 59 or 6$ would be much better. heck, they're tagged at 88$ here and they barely sell. Edited by Cabanon, Nov 4 2013, 10:28 PM.

I'm going to get me a Wii Mini for no other reason than it will be somewhat novel in 15, 20 years. I'm one of the few that like the styling too. My current Wii has been relegated to the "retro" room. Where basically all my non-HD systems are hooked up. It is nice watching the Bob Newhart show on Hulu in the Retro Room though. Gotta love that. |

Zero on-line capability makes Mario Kart Wii a very odd choice to bundle with the Wii Mini given that it's arguably the best on-line enabled game on the system. Nintendo's been making some very odd decisions lately which is really starting to make me worry about the future of the Wii U. |

I have to agree with that. I mean, after their last decision of killing the Wii, which supposedly was a great decision to boost the WiiU, they then make this decision. It's confusing at bets. |

I'm surprised that Nintendo isn't bundling Super Mario Galaxy 2 with the US spec Wii Mini as that title seems to suit the nature of the console much better than Mario Kart Wii. Aesthetically the Wii Mini looks fine to me as I like it's shape and color. I also like the fact that it's a top loader but the lack of component output makes no sense whatsoever. Standard definition televisions are no longer available so by not allowing for progressive scan output the Wii Mini is literally already obsolete and for that reason dead on arrival here in the US. In effect, the Wii Mini appears to be the answer to a question that nobody was asking and casts serious doubts on the competence of Nintendo's marketing department. |
