My love for the original Wii has only grown since I last posted in this thread. I added these two masterpieces to my library.

I even picked up a few more Classic Controllers to use with my burgeoning library of Virtual Console titles.

For being so light these controllers are amazingly durable. Too bad I don't have the sexy gold or red ones yet. >_<

I really need to get around to getting Galaxy 2 already.
Just never got around to it.

The first one was absolutely incredible.
The atmosphere, the music. Just perfection.

Galaxy 2 is a wonderful game. In fact, many Wii U owners are disappointed that Galaxy 3 didn't come to that console.

I probably would have bought the console already if that came out.
I want a proper, full-on 3D Mario game.
Nothing wrong with those remakes/reimagined versions of the old games, but Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy have been the definite Mario games for me.

Maybe i should replay all of those games again, or just get straight into Galaxy 2...if I ever see a copy of the game 🤔

You can buy "refurbished" copies of Super Mario Galaxy 2 directly from Nintendo for just 10 dollars plus shipping. I bought a refurbished Mario Kart Wii as a backup and it was essentially a brand new game that came in a specially marked case with no instruction booklet.

10 dollars for a game as good as SMG 2 is simply too good a deal to pass up. I'll gladly recommend that bargain all day long. Ought to make a nice stocking stuffer. ;)

Holy crap, really???

I need this!
That sound like the best self Christmas gift ever!
Hope shipping 🚢 doesn't take too long, that would be some kind of heaven for Christmas.
Such fond memories of getting Galaxy 1 pretty much exactly 9 years ago and enjoying the absolute crap out of it once I actually had a.little time to play it. 😍

Yeah that's right since SMG 2 is now a Selects title you can buy it brand new for just 20 bucks.

Hey, has Zoki ever performed his artistry on a Wii console? If so I'd love to see it.

I'd been not buying it for ages mostly because I was annoyed that all the department stores were still charging full price for it years after its release.
Even though it's worth that price, it's the principle!

thats the case for alot of stuff. it's like all those past NHL/NBA/MLB/FIFA games selling for 30-40$ while they should be paying customer to take them home.

@Grizz: I took a look at his incredible Deviant Art page . . . no Wiis.

@Cabanon: "Refurbs" from nintendo are new and complete, they just print a red stripe on the case (and maybe the manual) that says "refurbished". Everything in my Mario Kart Wii w/ Wheel was brand spankin' new.

Sad. Maybe we can talk him in to doing one.

By the way, have you ever seen this Wii stand before?

Horizontal Stand for Wii

I really want one but it's nearly impossible to find now. :(

Awe, it says only available to Canada and USA for Galaxy 2 😐

Maybe I'll have to check the shops.
Most of the ones I checked the other night had little to no Wii games on offer.

Quite possibly my favorite game of all time is Mario Kart Wii. Sadly, Nintendo allowed the official on-line servers for the game to be shut down back in 2014. Luckily there's still a completely legal way to play MKWii with other people over the net via CTGP Revolution. :yeah:

I was a bit bemused that they shut those servers down.
Surely, for Nintendo that couldn't have been that big of a drain on their income...
Unless it was to give people less reason to play the Wii games to kind of force them to upgrade to the next console...hmmm...🤔

In other news I think I want to have a bit of a Mario Binge.
Made a start on Super Mario 64 and will probably follow up with Sunshine and Galaxy 1 and 2 😍

Hooked up my new speaker, so reminesent of when I first played Super Mario 64 with a good Ol stereo.

The excuse given for shutting down the official servers for both Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl among other games was that GameSpy could no longer maintain those servers. :-/

It's a real shame because I find Mario Kart Wii to be more enjoyable than its successor Mario Kart 8. The latter has better graphics but with respect to gameplay, I find Mario Kart Wii to be the ultimate expression of the franchise. Perhaps that's why Nintendo has sold a whopping 35 million copies and is still selling it new at retail over 8 years after its initial launch. :o

Going to start Galaxy 2 soon.

Played through Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion.
Enjoyed them all thoroughly.
Only played through Galaxy 1 for 2nd time a few years ago so didn't replay it this time, also didn't want to overdo old mate Mario.

Let's a go! 👍

I need to get Galaxy 2 sometime. Galaxy 1 was the first 3D Mario I actually beat. Very good game with a great soundtrack...which I'm now humming. :)

Oh the soundtrack to the Galaxy games is incredible.
Goes with the amazing scenery, graphics, learning curve.
Just everything.

OK, this is incredibly childish, something that was pointed out to me by the salesperson when I bought Galaxy back in 07 but...
Have a look at what letters the stars are twinkling on for the Galaxy 1 case...

Spoiler: click to toggle

That's my version of "a secret star lies here" 😅

EDIT:
And if you want to get pumped about Galaxy 1, watch this music video of the game put to "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen.
Amazing.
"They call me Mr. Fahrenheit" indeed! 🔥 :fireballmario: 🔥
Contains minor spoilers (as far as Mario games have spoilers) :smokin:

Secretly it's 2 Nintendo employees who still communicate despite their forbidden love.

By the way that Mario Galaxy music video was killer. Back in the early days of YouTube I used to love watching video game music videos like that, raypinot's Resident Evil 4 videos in particular.

Here's a really cool Body Harvest one that actually predates the Galaxy one by like a year. It's set to Crush'em by MegaDeth. Not their best song but it fits the music video so well.

The original Wii has a really nice lineup of games. Two titles that I always suggest to people who enjoy gaming are Sin & Punishment: Star Successor and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. The good news is that you can still find both of these gems on-line at very reasonable prices so you won't have to break the bank to play them.

Somebody on Craig's List sold me this spiffy Wii carrying case with a nearly mint condition white backwards compatible Wii inside for just $20 dollars. He even delivered it to my house! 8)

I suspect he let it go for such a low price because he didn't include the Wii-mote but that's fine with me because I have several spares. This carrying case is perfect for bringing my Wii over to a friend's house when we play Project M. I'm really quite happy with it!

If only the Wii had the Gamecube's revolutionary handle you wouldn't need a carrying case for it. You would only need a case for the games, Wii-motes, GameCube Controllers, hook ups, batteries, and all manner of plastic accessories.

It's very nice deal nonetheless especially with the Wii included. I haven't played Project M since they came out with that final update and I really should. I remember trying to play brawl again after Project M and realized it's like playing in an anti gravity chamber

The last official release of Project M is version 3.6 and it's absolutely brilliant. Not only is Brawl's inherent floatiness gone but all the characters seem pretty well balanced too. If you have a friend to play it with I'm certain you'll enjoy PM 3.6 and will probably never want to play basic Brawl ever again.

As long as you were only playing one game, the cube could carry the game, and memory card in it, and the controller fit SO snugly in your pocket 😊😉

Unless you have tiny pockets 😅

EDIT:
I only just realized that little bag on Paris' back must be holding the cables and maybe a 2nd controller. 😉
