For daily or rough N64 gameplaying, I recommend the "Superpad 64" controller because the joystick has a metal (vs plastic) shaft.
But seriously, I've found it to be quite excellent in all regards too.
Also, IMO, getting one of them is much easier than lubricating the plastic-shafted joysticks (though I give kudos to anyone whose done that).

Things are going so so alxbly. I hope life's been treating you very well.

I was referring to the black one. As far as problems go, recently I've been having turning problems like my character, vehicle, etc. will occasionally veer off uncontrollably.
Other than that, while I don't know how the heck to use the 2 middle buttons, I've found it to be the perfect alternative to the original controller.

On a side note, I recently got Winback, and I think it's one of the best N64 games.
It reminds me of World Driver Championship in that both are realistic games in their genre with tight controls that demand focus and a handle on one's actions.

Sorry for the delayed response; I only get internet access like 1/wk (and no I'm not incarcerated, ha ha).
Thanks for the tip alxbly, and I'm happy for you that your Mrs. Alxbly is still around to be changing your bedroom.
Interesting thing about Winback and Mission: Impossible, the targeting and fleshed-out looking characters reminded me a lot of the beta Mission: Impossible.
...Man, I'm still peeved I shelled out $70 USD for that game after being in dev for so long and then being left with blurry, foggy, barren run of the mill levels. Erg.
Stay safe and be well.
