So, does anybody here collect CDs/Vinyl records? I've got a small collection of CDs of soundtracks/albums/singles from my favourite movies/animes/video games/singers that I've been collecting since I was 10 years old. I'm practically the only person among my friends who actually still buys CDs instead of just downloading music illegally. :-/
I'm crazy about Taylor Swift(have had a huge crush on her for like the past 2 years) and I've got almost every version of every retail CD that she's ever released. I'm only missing two extremely rare ones(the Deluxe Edition of her debut album and her Beautiful Eyes EP) that were never released over here in Singapore. (P.S. If you are reading this and you have ANY Taylor Swift stuff at all for sale please let me know. I'll probably be very interested if I don't have it already. I would even pay money for this free Covergirl sample that I believe can only be obtained from Walmart. That's how crazy I am.)

Anyway, I've got really interested in vinyl records lately and I just might begin a vinyl collection with my first 2 purchases being the 1982 Tron and the Tron: Legacy records.
Oh and don't those Record Day exclusive Tron: Legacy records above look breathtakingly beautiful? Hopefully some music store over here in Singapore manages to bring them in even though we don't have a Record Day here.
Does anyone here collect vinyl records? I remember seeing somebody's vinyl collection in one of the other threads around here before and it looked awesome. :o
Oh and I saw the vinyl thread on the second page... I just thought I'd made a new thread since I cd collecting was going to be discussed too.

Nice collection! When I see the beautiful covers of vinyl records in stores it's like they're screaming "Buy Me!". I really need to save up for a turntable...

I also ordered American Psycho (The Misfits), Famous Monsters (The Misfits), Dookie (Green Day), Whatever Gets You Off (The Last Vegas), Kill 'Em All (Metallica), Ride The Lightning (Metallica), Master of Puppets (Metallica), Black Album (Metallica), Too Fast For Love (Motley Crue), Ignition (The Offspring), Revolutions Per Minute (Rise Against), and I pre-ordered the album Does This Look Infected (Sum 41).[/table] That last one, I've been looking for it everywhere, only to find out this morning that it was FINALLY announced that it's getting a vinyl release for the first time on February 26th. I ordered a green copy (500 print run).

I had a 320 cds collecting before but sold almost all of them for various reason. needed cash and i had no car anymore to play and fully appreciate them. I had a very nice car audio system with very fine tuning that made a HUGE difference when listening to a music cd. that aint the case anymore and the way the cash is being, family wise, very different from 4 years ago. maybe in 15-20 years i'd start over again but i'll choose what i really want to listen to and appreciate instead of buying a full band discography while only 2 out of 10 albums are really good.

@Alice, I'm insanely jealous of that The offspring - Smash vinyl. That's got to be one of my favourite albums of all time.

I remember listening to it when it came out just before I hit high school. It memorized me then and still pumps me up to this day.

I haven't updated my list in a while. I about 85 albums now. I bought a few this morning so I'm waiting on those to come in. The ones not shown in the picture below are Earth AD (Misfits), Misfits Collection 1 (Misfits), Misfits Collection 2 (Misfits), Dead Alive (Misfits), Cocked & Loaded (LA Guns), Hollywood Vampires (LA Guns), and Razorblade Suitcase (Bush).

I didn't sell any. I just got bored of video games and started collecting something new. When I get my laptop back (I plugged the power supply from my guitar amp in the laptop because I'm an idiot) I'll take pictures of the whole vinyl collection. Maybe I should just make an Instagram account just for collection display. I'm pretty sure I don't have the most impressive collection in quantity, but that's because I focused on buying the rare or expensive albums first. I'll get to postin it eventually. I just wanted to bump this topic up so I can remember to do it when I'm not at work.

@Alice Lawless, I'm quite jealous of some of your vinyl albums. Specifically The Offspring and The Misfits collections. Back in the day I had an eye on just about all the albums you have by them (that I don't already have- I still know all the releases and variations and such), and had I not moved on to other things I'd probably have copies of them today.

Here are some of the modern albums I have vinyl copies of. I'd estimate it's about 1/2 of my modern albums (rest are in storage at the parents place), but I've also sold some in the past. I don't collect vinyl like I used to:

Mostly Offspring and Murderdolls (and related bands), as you may have noticed. They were some of my favorites back in the day so that's what I spent money on...

The rest of my vinyl came from flea markets and garage sales. I started collecting them way before video games, and actually, way before we even moved. So a lot of it is 70s/80s rock, which came from listening to my parent's albums when I was younger. I bought a lot of the stuff they listened to (or filled in gaps for them). Some of them are even still shrink-wrapped:

Omfg dude you have the original 1989 cover for the self titled Offspring album?! That's a good ~$200 right there! Also dude I freaking love the Murderdolls. Are those singles? 'Cause I've never seen either of their full albums on vinyl.

I'm going to upload pics of my collection tonight. Still at work for another hour.

I love vinyl!!!

My record collection

keith
Love you to =p (xD)

I have only game Soundtracks and Epic music like X-ray dog. the reasons are;
1: OSTs brings back memories
2: more instruments the better instead of modern keyboard numbers and female voice (so original nowadays...)
2: I don`t like voices in music =p

I sure do. Back when I got it I only paid a little over 100 for it, and it's mint. I also have the Blackball and Baghdad singles, which are pretty rare. I've got a bunch of CD singles and rarities from The Offspring as well.

And those are actually Frankenstein Drag Queens records, (Wednesday 13's band before the Murderdolls). I do have a White Wedding picture-disc around here somewhere, but it wasn't with the rest of my FDQ stuff for some reason.

I have a few They Might Be Giants records too, but I think they're all at my parents place in my third crate of vinyl, along with a bunch of other old records, and my red copy of The Offspring's Smash. I'll have to grab them whenever I'm there again.

Next time I have some money to spend I think I'll buy some more Offspring records. I'd love to have a complete vinyl set of their studio albums. It looks like you're nearly there. :yeah:
