Part of the textural aesthetic of arcade machines is that slightly textured plastic film that Nintendo used on its NES control pad. I thought this was a great feature (together with the concave red buttons) of the NES control pad b/c it was a clear tribute to arcade machines. For reasons unknown to me (cost?), the Big N stopped using the stuff on any future hardward (save for a very cool limited edition of the Game Boy Advance).

Does anyone know what that plastic film stuff is called? And where can can be obtained?
