1. Does the power adapter plug on a Japanese N64 work fine with standard US power outlets?
2. Once you physically mod the cartridge slot you can play NTSC games on them?
3. Also is there any issue with using NTSC controllers, memory paks, or rumble paks on a JAP console?

Thats one thing N64 (along with other stuff) that we PAL people missed out on, a nice GOLD N64. NoE were/are pretty useless when it comes to 'special and limited editions'!

I've gotten a really good price on a base Japanese N64, everything's in mint condition, I'm getting it purely for the box art. I love how 90's futuristic it looks, so awesome.

The Japanese gold model box is in similar style to its NTSC counterpart, so I rather save my pennies for now and get the Toys R' Us edition in the future.

Regarding converting a Japanese console to accept US cartridges: many guides advocate breaking off bits of plastic from the cartridge "slot".
IMNSHO it is much much better is to just remove the entire slot - but you do need a gamebit to open up the console for that.
This method does no permanent damage and can be reversed.

This reminds me of Clarky's Tron mod. But damn those both look so sick, dude.

remove the entire slot
Yes I'm gonna take out the cart tray and set it back in the box. I have the tools and gamebit all ready. Don't worry I'm not sawing off any part of this sacred gaming temple.. lol

And all the Japanese boxes look the coolest in my opinion. Followed by NTSC stuff, then lastly PAL. Most PAL boxes are kinda bland, with the exception of some like Resident Evil 2 and Lylat Wars, those are sick.

My absolute favorite box design of all is the JAP Perfect Dark:

Are the N64 boxes of both NTSC and JAP regular consoles the same size?
