I've been watching videos from some of our forum members (like SicCooper and finngamer) and I have a few questions for them and anyone else who records and posts vids. First and foremost, what kind of recording equipment do you guys use? I bought a webcam a few weeks ago and it does all right with the video but I'm having all sorts of issues with audio. The built-in mic doesn't pick up well and my 10 year old cheap p.o.s. mic isn't working any better. Any suggestions? I'm not looking to get into gaming videos solely but just want to vlog and talk about whatever is on my mind at the time. Audio and video that matches up would certainly make me feel better about possibly unleashing "myself" on the world. Also, you guys have some pretty sweet shelving for your games and accessories. Did you buy those pre-made or did you have to assemble them? Or are they custom made? I need some stuff for my games and movies and I'm just not sure the cheap stuff at the Walmart I work at is the way to go. Anyway, thanks for any help you can provide. |

What I use is the built in webcam and the built in microphone in the speakers. Works fine for me. If you need to go external, possibly look into a webcam with a built in microphone. You might also try going down the route of buying a camera and use the cables to transfer the video to your hard drive. |

Do you have a laptop? I'm using a PC and the webcam's built in microphone just sounds muffled. I wonder if it is the distance from it to me. My external mic does a good job now that I've positioned it better, but most of the time the audio drops from the video at the onset of anything I record and I don't know it until I finish up and play it back. I'm not the techiest guy with computers and I'm right on the cusp of getting discouraged and giving up. |

I'd suggest buying this Sony Bloggie Live HD Camera: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666415572 Lots of "professional" YouTube artists/performers (whatever they call themselves) use DSLRs with external mics, but that's really quite expensive and unnecessary unless you plan to make a living from doing YouTube videos like them.

I just use the built in webcam and mic on my macbook, but before this, I used a Flip Mino HD. I lost it at goodwill ![]() as for shelving, I have gotten all of mine off craigslist so far. There is a target 2 blocks from my house that sells the exact same ones I paid $60 for (thats $60 for 2 of them) for $90. So definitely don't buy new unless you need/want to, because you can get great stuff from craigslist for CHEAP! |

I'm going to look into the Flips and Bloggies that my store sells. Perhaps I'll have to save up for one but it has to be better than what my webcam is offering so far. Thanks for the suggestions. |

I'm going to return my webcam tomorrow. I ordered a JVC Picsio at a reasonable price as it seemed to have good reviews and offers ease of use as far as posting videos is concerned. It should also give me better pics of games and items than my cell phone does. |

Does anyone else have any recommendations as to the best way to record game play footage. Looking to get Hauppauge HD PVR Receiver. Heard that they are good. Anyone got any comments. |
