Star Fox 64
Quest 64
Turok 2
Space Invaders
007 Goldeneye
Fighter Destiny 2
Madden '99

Very small collection because I just got my N64..but yeah.

And guess what, I only had to actually pay for Fighter Destiny 2. :P 4 Bucks. The others either came with my N64, or I got for free from a friend.

Hey guys, I'm back after..over a year? Maybe more? Reason being, I decided to jump back into N64 gaming. A couple days ago, I came across an AWESOME deal. Here's the story. (I originally blogged about it on my site, but I'm just going to copy/paste it from there)

So, yesterday, I was shopping around in thrift stores, pawn shops, etc. I intended on hopefully finding some Sega consoles for sale for cheap, and I was also hoping to maybe find a replacement Saturn. I didn’t find any of this, but I did find a few things worthwhile!

First store had some Genesis, Sega CD, and 32X games for sale. I decided to call my brother and have him look up the value of each game that I found. I thought that the Sega CD games would be worth something, since they were complete. Unfortunately, none of this stuff was worth anything, which is surprising because I thought Super Monaco GP or Aladdin would have been worth something. But, there were two that were! There was a complete in the box Star Wars Arcade for the Sega 32X which sells from around $15-$50. Just depending on the circumstances. I also got Jungle Strike for the Sega Genesis. Unfortunately, it wasn’t complete. It came with the original case, but no manual. Jungle Strike is actually not worth as much as I thought it would be. It only goes for $5-10 in the box. But that’s still okay. Why? Because I paid $1.25 for each of these games. Pocket change! And of course, I could resell these and make a little bit of profit. Not too much, but a significant amount.

But, that’s not all I got. By this time, I’d decided that I would buy old systems, and then resell them to make a profit. This is only the beginning of the story. After searching in a few more shops, I came across a Nintendo 64, which was hooked up to the TV they had in the room, for testing and whatnot I suppose. I thought, “Okay cool, an N64. Let’s see how much”. I flipped up the tag taped to the table, and what did I see? “Nintendo 64, 9 games, 4 controllers, $30!”. Needless to say, I jumped on that opportunity after testing the system to make sure it works.

This is still not all, though. Everything was in pristine condition. I also picked up the stack of games to see what all they were, and to my surprise even more, they were all sought after titles. This pawn shop did not realize what they had at all. If I sold just one of these games, I would easily get my $30 back. I do not say “they did not realize what they had” lightly either, because the system also came with the 4 meg expansion pack, and an official Nintendo memory card in one of the controllers. Here is a list of everything that I bought. Take note, everything on this list cost me only $30. Beside each item, I listed the value price based on the cheapest used prices listed on http://amazon.com. Check what I’ve got.

-Nintendo 64 System w/ 1 grey official controller: $30
-Nintendo Expansion Pack: $15
-Nintendo Memory Card: $3.58
-Official Grey Controller: $11.80
-Official Black Controller: $15.99
-Official Black Controller: $15.99

-007 Goldeneye: $8.34
-Bomberman 64: $5.91
-Conker’s Bad Fur Day: $36.25
-Diddy Kong Racing: $4.98
-Dr. Mario 64: $10
-Gauntlet Legends: $14.02
-Mario Kart 64: $15
-Mario Party: $15.99
-Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (gold cartridge): $19.75

Estimated Total Value: $222.60
Price Paid: $30

…SCORE much?! Below are the pictures of what I bought.

I originally planned on buying this stuff just to resell it, but I thought..why not? There are some N64 titles I still want to play. I do plan on selling a few that came with it though, like Mario Party (simply because I don't care for the series), Dr Mario 64 (because I could do better with 10 dollars), and Gauntlet Legends (because I have it on Dreamcast)

Will do. I checked it out for about 5 minutes just to see if it was working, and it seemed to be pretty similar to the Dreamcast version, but I'll have to play it a bit more to be sure. My opinion based on the Dreamcast version though is that it's definitely fun, especially with a friend. :D

Yeah. There's this local place that buys and sells retro games that I'm going to check out. They have a section for N64 stuff. They advertise that they 'Trade' so I'm going to hold them to that. I'm going to try to exchange something of mine for Killer Instinct Gold for sure. I'll also be trying to get Banjo Kazooie. I haven't played that game since it came out. I miss it. :p

Haha I know right! When I looked through the stack of games and saw Conker in there, it felt like I was stealing.

Oh I also plan to get Wave Race..no N64 collection feels right without Wave Race.

Haha yeah pretty much. Unfortunately, I could never get the hang of Wave Race: Blue Storm on the GameCube. The control was wayyy too stiff.

Anywho, any other cheap recommendations? I hear Glover's pretty fun.

Haha oh trust me I got very lucky. The pawn shops and thrift stores here never really have any retro games at all either. :P

Thanks. And yeah, I know Gauntlet Legends is good. Thing is, I have it on Dreamcast too, so if there is not much difference between versions (I still have to check) there's not much point in owning it on N64. But, then again, the N64 version could be superior. Who knows :P I'll just have to see.

But yeah, there are definitely alot of memories for me with N64 games too. There were so many I played with friends. Mostly Goldeneye, but I remember going to this kid's birthday party and he had just gotten 007: The World Is Not Enough for his birthday and man..that was awesome. That party pretty much revolved around everyone playing that game.

I've always been a fighting game buff but I've never really been around anyone who also enjoyed fighting games, so for the most part I just played them by myself, but I remember being STOKED when I first played Killer Instinct Gold. That's probably going to be the first game I buy.
