This is my favorite N64 console and I am extremely happy about it. Couldn't resist sharing my happiness about the red system.
^_^ Nice one, man. I was really happy when I got mine as well . . .
[/quote]Ah, the clear red and clear blue Japanese/PAL systems are so cool!!! Great pieces, gents!!

I wish I were home right now so I could take/post a pic of my "matching" clear blue Hori minipad and clear blue OEM controllers. Hmm, maybe after "Lost" . . . .

BTW, if anyone is interested in a clear blue japanese system and OEM controller, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260544186729&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT. The seller also told me they have a matching Hori mini pad that they are willing to part with as well. Never dealt with them, but were great to correspond with (I just wanted the OEM controller; but they made a sweet offer for the whole shootin match. . . . )

I was going to mention Wave Race in the other thread about cheap N64 games. Love Wave Race, just makes you want to dive into that crystal blue water, no?

Woo-hoo! Just scored the japanese rumble version of Wave Race for peanuts. Fun game, curious to see how the rumble was integrated. Also like the alternate cart sticker with the 4 skis.

Lo and behold! My latest purchases...
Those Blue and Clear systems and controllers are my absolute favorites. Great purchase.

If there are any arcade-style baseball fans out there (think Baseball Stars), Chkkan Night Pro Yaky King is definitely worth checking out.

Bohser--wow that is one impressive collection. How did you come by factory sealed blockbuster only games (razor, NFL blitz)?

if you don't want to burn down those blockers that avoid to play import games on your console.

another way is to just remove the whole plastic cartridge guide thingy. this was done with my standard charcoal gray Japanese console.
That's what I did on my standard charcoal gray NTSC console after trying in vain to cut off the blockers. Works great and a cartridge is in always in anyway, so no biggie. Plus, there is something visually unappealing to me about stacking an N64 cart on top of an adapter.

I never purchased a proper arcade stick for my N64 so this third-party controller had to suffice as I found KIG almost unplayable with the standard N64 input device. Notice how the controller in the picture features a floating D-pad design.
@Grizzmeister: Tell us more about that controller . . .madcatz? and did you add a rubber sleeve to the middle prong? Always curious about this stuff . . .

UPDATE added a loose NTSC-only cartridge to the heap (thanks to a trade with bluedogrulez)

  • [*]Ken Griffey Jr's Slugfest

And thanks to MKII, I added my first PAL ever, F-1 world grand prix II. And I also ordered a passport plus III to play it on my NTSC system from play asia.com. But the real news flash for n64ers is this: Play Asia has exactly 1 passport plus III available. They have been selling news ones forever for $20USD plus $4USD shipping while used ones on eBay go for considerably more when you can find them.

So if you've been pining for one of these, time to pull the trigger.

@zoki: The Jusco is glorious. Congrats!

@TheRedShadow: yes, it is easy to swap out analog sticks. It helps to have a set of precision screwdrivers. Also, recommended that you lube the replacement stick with ceramic grease to prolong stick life (if OEM stick).

@Alice. Wow, that is some spree! What is the cart count now?

Welcome, Thermos! I'd put Star Wars Episode I Racer on any must play list. So very fast and quite fun. And bump Sin & Punishment up a few notches; if you like nonstop action games, look no further.

The NTSC-J (Japanese) carts have a physical block on being played on American (NTSC) systems--NTSC-J carts are not notched on the back bottom corners and therefore do not slide all the way in. The can be overcome by (1) using an adaptor cart (most expense way and a cart tower results) (2) altering the gray housing to the cart slot inside the console (very difficult, I've tried 2x) or (3) removing the gray housing (my recommendation, do need proper bit, which are inexpensive and readily available on eBay).

That is quite impressive...you must have gone through a tube (or two) of ceramic grease. Love how your boy appears to be waving away from "his" controllers.

MK, great recent additions!

Hey, just wanted to complement Alice Lawless on his awesome gallery (click here)! Very impressive. Photos 7 and 10 most germane to the N64 Collection Discussion . . . he bagged them all!

Hope more of you Senior Members post in the Galleries section soon. A robust section would be fun to browse and really demonstrate our collective level of commitment to the N64.

@ Toad, YogurtStorm: thanks guys! I definitely had to get my act together with displaying controllers. I posted on Highlander's foam display thread in Social topic about the black wedge they are sitting on--called gutterstuff, found at Home Depot. Should do if and until our gameoff leader produces a more custom foam product.
