Who hates playing online anymore?

First off im a fairly good gamer and I was really good at BF3 (though my brother was wayyyyy better lol) but I havent been on in months cause of work but I decided i'd get back on. Well now i dont think i'll ever get back on again. Between the shottie noobs, spawn campers and the idiots that play it every hour on the hour just really kills it for me. Unfortunately it seems the same for Reach, MW3 and any other good online game so I think im just gonna cancel my subscription.

What is everyone elses take on online gaming?

I also find it very annoying playing with all of the idiots like you said. I have much more fun playing 4 player split-screen with my friends for any game. The only time ill play an online game is when making a party with people I know

Online gaming is best with friends. I have 9 months worth of Xbox LIVE Gold subcription cards but I'm not using them as I don't have any friends playing the same games I do currently.

I don't like it that much now... Console FPS games tend to be full of screaming kids, campers, cheaters etc.

If I do play online, Its normally TF2 or Garrys Mod on PC (Or just in the sense of any normal FPS) where it all runs on Dedicated Servers and the admins can just ban people cheating/camping etc from the server.

Totally this. I hate online gaming in general and have ever since they started pushing online all the way back to the Dreamcast. It should be an option, not the rule in the majority of games. The only thing I play online right now is World of Warcraft and 95% of what I do in that game is single player-oriented.

I enjoy online gaming when it's on PC, as there tend to be less children on them since a good gaming PC costs at least $500 I'd say, and even if they do have a decent PC there aren't that many people with mics on most PC games, and if there are you can just mute them all using console commands.

Well im glad to see im not the only one that feels like this lol. It just seems like theres to many people that take the fun out of it. Last night when I was trying to play BF3 I was gonna start sniping and right when I got to a spot that I thought you couldnt see from the other side of the map I got hit and then when I respawned he hit me where I spawned :nope: . Then I respawn again again and kept getting killed by a new that stayed behind enemy lines just camping. What finished it for me was the heavy machine gun noobs that just spray til they eventually kill you (couldnt snipe him cause he kept hitting me and i'd move) or the fully auto shotty noobs that just spray. I think from now on im either gonna fool around with the jets/helicopters on BF3 or do survival mode on MW3 cause its not fun getting owned by nerdy kids.

100% agreed!!! If only they could somehow rate the servers for your performance level so you're with someone your own level (Combat Arms did that and it kinda worked lol).

Endure and survive...
Wow, not many fans lol. I play a ton of Battlefield 3 now. BC2, BC, and 1943 preceded it. GTA IV is the only other I have played much. I am good at BF3 , which probably is why enjoy it so much. There is always BS, but I am used to it. I am in the top 1% in skill, headshot distance, and finished vs played rounds. I am in the top 3% in K/D with a 2.41. My best single day K/D was a 32.0 over 11 games. Done bragging now ;) lol. Anybody else play it on PS3?

Well, you can favoruite servers that you like and have a good community on it, thats why I love gaming on my PC, because rather than the whole "join a random game" thing you can find a server you enjoy.

I haven't played an online game in awhile, but not because I have a problem with online play. It's because I'm burned out on the few online games that I like (Halo: Reach, Worms Armageddon PC, Perfect Dark XBLA, one or two others).

Yep, I'm in single player mode now - Harvest Moon 64, Skyrim, & eventually Skyward Sword. ;)

I like online when my internet is not being a joke. It just puts me at such a disadvantage and its so annoying to know I'm dying instead of owning because my internet sucks.

With the exception of a rare bout of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike online, I never play games online. If I'm going to go online, it's more likely going to be to discuss games, or track down stuff.

Slower than usual, but I guess it's decent for online gaming. Works pretty well for TF2 at least.

It can definitely be a contributing factor to one's opinion about online gaming.

Ok, this is my internet connection on a good day, that first one was one of the slowest days I've ever seen my internet crawl.

I can't complain too much though, my friend is still on dial up, but now he uses his cell phone to connect to the internet. Believe it or not he could actually play WoW on dialup but not Warcraft 3.... Nobody would believe him when he said he was on dial up on WoW lol.

I've actually heard of a few people who play WoW on dialup but I can't imagine how laggy that must be. I experience a minimal amount of lag at all times on WoW with DSL and if it was any worse I'd pull what little hair I have left right out. X_D

i do remember back in the day people were playing Starcraft on dialup without a problem. it all depends at what time. if you were playing during rush hour (from 4h to 10pm) then it was hell, otherwise everything was fine. last time i had a dialup connection was 15 years ago lol

I had a friend who up until about a year ago, actually played Xbox Live over dial up using his laptop to get online.

He lagged like crazy, and actually got banned from Halo 3 matchmaking at some point for it :p

I'm really starting to loathe games that come with a "one time pass", or any other DLC crap for that matter. Most of the time the material IS ALREADY ON YOUR GAME DISK, they've just cut it out and labeled it as a "bonus". This practically destroys used game sales, and rubs such missing content in your face. I've been patient long enough with this BS trend, it's so cruel! All generic war FPS shooters are usually the worst offenders. Also, when I turn on the xbox from powering-on to actually playing, this is at least a 5 minute process. Updates, lengthy loads, and developer screens, it hurts. I can start up on the N64 and Gamecube with some of the best titles in less than 15 seconds flat. I believe with future generations this power-to-play time will be shortened dramatically, but for right now in this generation it kinda turns me away from picking up new releases. The whole online aspect is still in it's infancy, the same with motion controls, I 'll skip both for a while until I can enter the matrix on a new Wii console.. lol

With the 360 and PS3, I think nobody in the future will be excited to go back and play these consoles, they have no "pizzazz" and backwards compatibility will render the hardware junk. I mean seriously are you going to want to play the 360 in 20 years? Hell no, ha.
