It was suggested in another topic that we maybe should have our own official facebook page. I like the idea myself and want to know everybody's thoughts and opinions. Are you in favor or not? If you are in favor, do you have any input on how it should be done?

I think it is a great idea. I enjoy Facebook a lot and it would, hopefully, bring some new attention to the forum and the N64 itself.

I'm in favor of this idea. We all know each other on here: we buy, sell, and trade with each other all the time. I think it'd be cool to be able to post all of our collection pictures in albums on the facebook page. It'd make it much easier to organize them and view each others collections. My facebook link is in my signature already.

As long as it doesn't come at the expense of the forum. It would be a terrible shame for activity to be diverted towards the Facebook page and away from the here. Facebook has a big enough share of the pie as it is. For many here, it would probably be easier to get their Nintendo 64 Forever fix through Facebook, seeing as they already use it for so much else. I REALLY don't want activity on this forum to shrivel away. Is there any guarantee that wouldn't happen?

Why don't we have an "N64 Forever" photobucket account run by the admins which has an album dedicated to members' collections. One picture per member of their overall N64 collection. When the member chooses to update the pic, the old one is deleted for the new. My favorite thing about this site is viewing other people's stuff. I've mentioned this concept before and nobody was on board with me, lol.

I was thinking more along the lines of the page allows multiple albums to be uploaded. Then each member uploads their photos to their respective album on the page to keep it organized by members.

I can see both sides here clearly. I would like to draw more attention to the forum, but also worry it could take away from some of the activity here. I think more discussion is needed before anything is done. I am still awaiting staff input as well.

I'd stick with just the forums, people have made some great points and I too would be worried about attention being taken away from the forums.

The only thing I would be in favor of supporting on Facebook, is a very small + concise page which includes a description about our forums + what we do, and links to bring people here.

- just my opinion :coffee:

That doesn't sound bad either. A page with a description of what the forum is about, perhaps a few pictures and links to the forum itself. Just make it a fan page that people can Like and maybe put up an update every once in awhile, like whenever the Game of the Month vote off is beginning. Put up a link directing to that thread. Just some thoughts.

Not bad at all. I think if we keep it simple, it'll be perfect. All we need is some basic information, a link to the forum, monthly updates- the usual. Plus, it would be cool to use it as a place to show all the successful trades and whatnot. And personally, I think it'd be a perfect spot for showing off our partial and whole collections. By that I mean like every time someone on here gets something new, post a picture of it on the page's wall. Checking out each others pictures is something everyone on here loves doing, so why not post them here and there? It won't divert any attention since obviously we're so used to posting it all on the forums- but it will at least give us the option to make an N64Forever catalog of our members' updates.

As someone who dislikes Facebook, I have to say that I am not down with this idea at all. Facebook is simply an invasion of people's private lives. Grant it that they throw everything up for the world to see already. I reckon stick to the forum, it's not broken so why try and do something else.

I guess this just goes to show the pull that Facebook has on people the world over. I know people that would check it a ridiculous amount of times in one day. I tell you people, it's ruining lives >:-]

Totally agree with this statement. That's why I only accept friend requests from people I'm comfortable sharing information about my personal life to.

However, I think we should still have a Facebook page so that the admins can post updates on the forums on there, like if the forum is gonna be down a few hours for maintenance or something. Not to mention, if we start posting pictures of our N64 collections there, we might be able to get some N64 fans who have never heard of N64 Forever to join the forums as well. :)

Facebook's gotten into trouble on numerous accounts for storing and selling personal data to outside sources, so never post anything on your profile that you wouldn't want employers or police to see. Especially if your planning to go into politics, lol:

OK, I feel the majority of our members would be in favor of, or at least OK with, a simple page. One that says a little bit about us and perhaps updates on GotM posts or other important information. I did get feedback from another admin. Mop was the only one who has been on I believe. He was OK with it as well. That being said, is anybody interested in creating/managing the page? I need to get a list of those who would be interested. It needs to be somebody who has been on here for a decent amount of time, and is a regular poster. It would also need to be someone who can be professional about it, if you know what I mean. The purpose of the page is to draw people to our message board, not away from it. Once the manager is chosen, the login info will need to be shared with me (who will share it with the rest of the staff) in the case we need to use it. Anybody interested?

I'll just say that if nobody else wants to do it, I would- so if anyone else wants a go at it, ask them first. If no one else in interested, I would take on the role. Again, if no one else who qualifies wants to do it, just let me know the basic guidelines and restrictions, and then I'll give it a whirl, provided I'm chosen.

I think Stik Ross would be an excellent choice. He has been here a good while, and is a very regular poster. He possesses the much needed love for the N64.

OK, after 24 hours and only 1 interested person, I am pleased to announce that Alice Lawless aka Stik Ross has been appointed manager/creator of the official Nintendo 64 Forever Facebook page! Had him in mind all along anyway. He has already started working on the page, and will be posting a link here shortly to it. I got a sneak peak earlier, and was pleased with his work. Thank you all for your input. I look forward to the hopefully positive results this brings us :)

Sounds awesome, can't wait to see it. I almost threw my hat into the ring since I spend way too much a lot of time on Facebook but my last attempt at making a page for something I was into didn't really work out. I'm just not as adept with that stuff as I'd like to be. Best of luck with the page, Alice!
