Just out of curiosity I wanted to ask if there are some guidelines and etiquette about buying and selling via Craigslist that I should know about. My biggest concern with selling that way is how cautious you should be about having people come to your home to buy something or should you meet up somewhere neutral? Same goes for buying. I've never done anything through Craigslist other than "window shop" but I might like to use the service. I just want to be careful. Thanks for any help or advice. |

if you feel comfortable with a person, and just as a safeguard, you can protect yourself if necessary, I would say its ok to meet people either at their or your house. I've done it a lot, but at the same time, I've felt like I shouldn't have with certain people. Its always safest to meet at a neutral location such as Starbucks or something. I always meet people at Target. |

if the person sounds strange/weirdo, just meet him/her somewhere else. otherwise, i always ask people come down to my house and not pay for transportation. im 15 mins away from quebec city and a back and forth trip is 15$ of gas alone. (gas aint f**king cheap over here (1.41$/L) |

Never meet at your house! Always meet at a crowded place in broad daylight, and make sure your cell phone is fully charged when going to the meet destination. You are going to do business with some very questionable people, trust me. lol. Also I highly advise settling a strict price before meeting, and also verbally speaking to them on the phone to make sure they're competent. Think of it as a drug deal, take as little time as possible, minimal contact with the dealer, and the trade-off location has to be secure. Meet contacts like Jason Bourne does, and parkour your way out. ha |

Yes. This last part is a must. No transaction is complete until you scale a building and leap across a fence. |

I would also say meet people at a store or somewhere public. If you don't want to travel just pick somewhere close. I use kijiji (basically the same thing as craiglist) for basically all of my game buying and selling (I never buy online, so it's either this or flea markets/stores) and it is very useful. I usually find a lot of people who just want to get rid of their old gaming stuff quickly so you can find some great deals. It's also less competitive than Ebay (depending on where you live). Honestly I've been lucky, everyone I've met with through kijiji has been normal and extremely nice, so don't go into it thinking you're only going to meet crazy people. But it's always good to be on your guard. (: |

You guys can't beat our $4.20 a gallon lol. To the OP. If I'm selling games I never...I mean never let anyone come to my home address. I don't care how nice you are you aren't getting to know where my collection is. It scares me to know someone out there knows where my collection is located. If I'm selling my $40 TV then I have them come here but never inside my home. I just don't like random people coming in my home for some reason. |

Taking into consideration liters and euros, that would be $11.31 a gallon in the US. If gas ever rises above $10 in America, to hell with it I'm buying a Vespa. lol. That's crazy it's hard to believe most people can afford to keep a vehicle. You would have to bike and walk places on the side, but that's ridiculous, Americans shouldn't have to get exercise. By the way, to all Europeans who plan to visit the US in the future, stay away from Wal-Marts and McDonalds', especially after 9pm. Such foul creatures that lurk these structures do not represent our nation as a whole, they only tend to influence further negative stereotypes. Thank you. lolEdited by TNT737373, Apr 2 2012, 06:11 PM.

If I didn't live in the country I would ride my bike everywhere. Until then, $25 on gas a week, and I don't drive much at all. As for the craigslist, I'd meet anywhere with a lot of people. |

UK prices are the main reason keeping me away from driving. Prices are rising AGAIN and since I don't have a job I just can't afford it. Until I can afford it, looks like I'm sticking to my train :p |
