All my carts are loose, one way I protect these carts is with plastic baggies and store them in a closed shelf.
For Canadian buyers looking for Universal Game cases I've only found Carr Maclean

Those cases are an excellent cheaper option to the real boxes in combination with The Cover Project and legal sized paper.
