I was overall disappointed with Nintendo's press session.

And you didn't even grab a screenshot of the flying squirrel suit from New Super Mario Bros 2? <_<

Sorry, I only grabbed ones from the Nintendo E3 Press Kit webpage. At least they're all high quality, well the Wii U ones at least. The 3DS screenshots will of course be a lower resolution than the Wii U screenshots.

yeah... i felt a bit underwhelmed.

Too little actual news, too much scripted banter (cringe!) and not enough game footage.
But then i was thinking: this isnt aimed at Nintendo fanboys like me but at the trade, press and general public.
I was more or less spoiled by all the pre-E3 leaks and rumours.

On the other hand, im still very excited about Pikmin 3 - that really looked very lush - and pleasantly surprised by Nintendo Land.
Excellent third-party support as well, ZombieU in particular looked great and seemed to integrate the new controller very well.

Pretty disappointed with the 3rd party support. Most of those games are kinda old. Darksiders 2, Mass Effect 3, Ninja Gaiden 3... Wow.

I really only liked Pikmin 3 and Luigi's Mansion...

ZombiU looks good but I don't like the name and it looks pretty similar to Resident Evil.

I don't know what Trine 2 is but the graphics are beautiful.

I'm actually looking more forward to tomorrow for the 3DS show because I have plans to get a 3DS soon but not a Wii U.

I've played Trine 2 on PC. The game remains to be beautiful the entire time and is a pretty good puzzle/platform game too.

Here are some screenshots I took on the PC version, clearly, because of course my PC is a lot more powerful than the Wii U it won't look exactly the same but it might give you an idea of what to expect

they're only old if you're a multi-platform gamer.
For Nintendo fanboys like me they are all brand-spanking new and a good indicator of things to come re. 3rd party support

I was hoping that they would mention ZeldaU a bit more. Still New Super Mario Bros 2 looks good and I know my GF is happy about seeing Pikman 3.

You understand that the PS3 and Xbox 360 has been around for quite a few years now. To totally ignore these owners is folly. These third party titles will not attract these players. Reggie claiming that the minor tweaks Batman Arkham City Armoured Edition got totally merits buying the game again is just eye-roll worthy.

Personally, Batman should have gotten just a short video clip instead of actual people appearing with scripted banter. Zombi U should have gotten more time in there.

I heard Ninja Gaiden 3 was being refined by Nintendo and will be published by Nintendo. Why didn't that game get some love to show how much the game is different if any?

Nintendo Land looks like a fun title. Zombi U looks good. But Nintendo's E3 show was truly underwhelming. Disappointing.

probably true... the main draw to Nintendo consoles was, is and will always be their 1st party games.
But this does signal that customers can expect (a) the Nintendo stars and (b) all major multi-platform titles.
That's a huge difference with the Wii and could potentially win over a lot of "hardcore" gamers.
They wont abandon their PS3 or XBox but it just might make it easier to justify the purchase of a Wii U

I think pricing will be crucial. If they manage to launch at 300$ or less and keep the games at 50$ it could be a huge hit.

Agreed. Also the best showcase for the new controller so far.
Pity i really dont like horror games, they give me the willies (yes, im a softie)

Agreed for the most part. I think that pricing is crucial and the sight of Batman and Mass Effect is a good thing, but again, apart from Zombi U, they didn't show any real exclusive third party games that will make these PS3/Xbox360 owners go, "OK this is going to be worth getting".

Nintendo could easily rectify this by producing a strong line up of first party titles. Pikmin 3, Super Mario Bros U and Nintendo Land just don't cut it for me. The Wii launched with Twilight Princess as it's major title. Which of the games mentioned has the same impact as that one?

Sad. But this doesn't spell the end of the Wii U. It's just poor form for Nintendo this E3, just when they need to build momentum for the actual hardware launch.

I still feel like Nintendo hasn't told the whole story. They might have other 1st party games to be released at launch and what about all the other 3rd party developers who didn't get a whole lot of coverage?
lol wut?

of course they havent shown us everything they got "in the works".
IMHO they kind of played it safe, only showing stuff that will be available from launch or very soon after.
Realistically, a full-blown HD Zelda will take AT LEAST two to three years from now.
Much he same goes for other blockbusters like a new Metroid or Mario Universe (aka Mario Galaxy 3)

What was on show has been in development for ages (Pikmin 3), relatively easy to make (NSMB) or pret-a-ported from other platforms (most 3rd party games).

True, but I'm kinda surprised they didn't say ANYTHING about the new Super Smash Bros. We all know it exists and I'd like to see how it will play on the 3DS.

Watched a YouTube video of ZombieU today. I must say I'm quite impressed, I like how the controllers is integrated into the game.

The high def on the super Mario U brings a real crispness that I've never seen in a Mario game b4. I'm looking forward to the U.

I'm happy to hear that all Wii accessories and peripherals will be compatible with the Wii U!

However, doesn't $299 seem a little steep in this economy?

yes and no.
it is quite a bit of money (and we poor Euro people have to pay at least 20% more) for the general audience but early adapters / hardcore gamers / fanboys will be happy with that price level.
I predict the Premium bundle will outsell the standard package anyway as its only 50$ extra and offers a whole lot more bang for your bucks.

I thought more games would be annouced. No Fzero, Starfox, Waverace no GTA...They really need to grab gamers attention and I do not think they have. I am a Nintendo guy and I want one because the first party stuff will be great. I think the Uk prices are quite high so far.Play.com listing £349.99 for the Zombi U pack is high. I know you get alot in it but I really hate not having a set price. Tesco is £329.99 for the same bundle. Although I will get one not sure who will take my cash yet. Might not even jump on at launch and wait till the after crimbo. Do not really want to wait but the line up for the UK is alot worse then the USA. Since I am saving up for it I do not want to pre order with any website yet till the prices settle more. I would always get my console at retail but not this time. I will not give my money to Game/Gamestation, will not even go in there. B;cokbuster and HMV can be real rip offs too. I am shocked with Play though they used to be great for deals, of late I think they have got really exspensive.

As for the Nintendo DIrect in Europe that was so tacky and low quality. The USA one was far better except for COD, God I hate COD. Nice to see they made an effort with the Game Pad though. ZombiU & Rayman are the lead titles for me If I do buy at launch. Shocking that Ubi Soft have a better line up then Nintendo.

haha just looking at the prices that other countries and regions have this for. In Australia they have it advertised to sell at $348 for the plain white model and $428 for the black model. With a release date of November 30.

i don't think I'm going to buy this now as previously thought. If I do I'll wait for it to come down in price.

I'll be waiting for either an F-Zero, Mario Kart or Smash Bros. game before I pick up the console.

I was going into the US launch details fully expecting a $250 launch price for at least the basic set. Seeing the set at $299 was a bit much to swallow.

I don't know if I'll get it at this point. There are games that I am interested in getting, but that price tag is pretty hard to take. I would have been fine with a $250, $350 bundle.

Pretty underwhelmed.

I dont get why people are so upset with 300$ & 350$ launch price. i mean, dont you guys remember what was the price for a ps3 & xbox 360 on launch ? that was nearly double that price, still, people were buying like crazy. even the original Wii was as much as this. it's a non-sense ot me.

i'll buy it with MarioU & ZombieU on launch. no question asked.

I'm gonna be going to the midnight launch with a buddy of mine and we're each going to be dropping a grand a piece on these. We'll be getting the $350 set to keep, and the rest of them to resell once they go out of stock, or when the holidays start getting close. Remember back in 2006 when the Wii and PS3 sale were tight and everyone sold them online for triple the price? And people ate it up? I'm not going to let this opportunity slide this time. Next chance is what? Eight years from now? I guess there's still the next Xbox and PlayStation, but those will be more expensive to buy multiple units, and they won't sell as much as a Nintendo console will. Families will HAVE TO get one for their kids for Christmas.

I was going to pay $250 for one, but even though it's only $50 more, I'm not going to pay $300 for this.

It sucks too, that people are going to just jump into the Deluxe Bundle because, "it's only $50 more for the better bundle.", but what if the prices were $500 and $550? That's only a $50 difference.............

I'm a Nintendo loyalist, and I always have been, but I'm not buying into this crap. I'll wait until the Wii U2 comes out before I get this, unless they drop the price like they did with the 3DS (and/or have a Limited Edition of some sort).

I'm guessing it will take Nintendo at least 3 more console generations until they perfect motion control to the point of being even close to virtual reality, so I'll stick with junk Microsoft consoles until then, ha. I need my Grand Theft Auto V too badly to shell out the big bucks on the new Nintendo, gotta make sacrifices. ZombiU will definitely be the highlight of the lineup, the gameplay looks so innovative and fun, especially the multi. Very cool, Ubisoft's new Aliens and Far Cry games look polished as well.

it is a no brainer to spend 50$ more for a game, 2 docks, 2 charging station, 24gb more storage, etc. i would have done the same with a ps3.

Except that the price point of spending $500 is quite steep to begin with just taking into account that you're f-ing spending $500. One of the reasons I said pass on PS3.

I personally think that if the priced the Basic set reasonably, it would be $250. I think it's structured the way it is so that people buy the $350 bundle.

You are right if you're comparing the two bundles. Adding $50 makes the Deluxe set a steal. I just happen to think that the $350 is the true value of the machine and that $300 is Nintendo overcharging for the cheaper bundle.
