Has I was talking whit other member of the forums we need a category dedicated to only modding the n64.
Like Making a portable n64
Using a GC Thumbstick
Change the Led on the console
and much more.
I have talk whit the Administrator and He says that we dont need another category that why we have the Nintendo 64 Guides, FAQs and Information but I think it will be better to have a category for mods only. He did say if there's support on this suggestion he may add the Category.

Also adding the Category mods (that we have made) will make it much easier to find Modifications on the N64

I think this is a good idea for three reasons:

1) Somewhere along the line, the site lost its search function

2) We all get a little agro when people make new threads that are duplicative

3) There is alot of great info here on modding, but it is scattered about.

I'm sure the Administrator has good reason for hestitating, but glad this is under consideration.

It could be useful, but the question is how often will people post in it? I know there are a few modders that use this forum (sometimes), but not that many. If there's only going to be say, a few posts and one or two topics every few weeks then there's really no need for it; they can just post in "Nintendo 64 Topics" to discuss their modding projects.

That's just my opinion at least.

@norcal: you raise an interesting point. Off the top of my head, we've got resprayers (eg, the amazing zoki, pimpin mariner), portable makers (eg, the equally impressive clarky) and now thumbstick transplanters (eg TheGT550, clarky and sanni). Not a bad start and i'm probably missing a few. There are other topics that i'm not sure we've fully address or resolve, like RCG [sic?] output conversion, HD upscaling, and controller modification (ie, physical mods, use with wii, etc). I kinda think there's enough interest/info to warrant a new category.

I actually support this idea :)

We could have the section cover:

Modding the N64
Hardware related questions, i.e. what's the best inputs to use..
Maybe a few guides on how to mod
Cleaning consoles, controllers and cart tips
Homebrew (?)

With the popularity of the N64 on the up at the moment I think it would be a great opportunity to encourage not only the collectors and game players of the N64 but also N64 modders and game programmers to the forum. NintendoAge has a seperate section for it in there forums, why shouldn't we!?

Perhaps a subforum to "Nintendo 64 Topics"?

1) Somewhere along the line, the site lost its search function
We didn't lose it... it's on the top-right of the page, roll your mouse cursor over "Menu" and you'll see Search as the first option.
