Annual Club Nintendo Year N64 Gaming Challenge!

To celebrate our forum, we discussed ideas in the 1000 Members discussion thread. Several of us thought it would be a good idea to follow nintenod Age's idea of trying to beat as many games as possible in 1 year - but let's put our own spin on it and do it in 1 Club Nintendo year. The goal will be to complete as many games as possible before midnight on June 30th, 2013. We can include any games already completed this Club Nintendo year by members, just take a screenshot / post it.

Rules:

1.Only 1 Game can be 'Claimed' per person at a time - multiple people are free to beat the same game if desired but first person to claim it, gets it (please check previous posts to make sure the game is not already claimed after an update post from me)
2.Difficulty level does not matter
3.Sports games are to be beaten via a championship, or state what you completed
4.Some games have no actual ending so state what you challenged yourself to do to "complete" the game
5.Beating the final boss (if there is one) is mandatory - 100% completion is not required, but welcomed
6.After you beat the game, take a screen shot of the ending credits (this needs to be the actual end credits and not taken via the home menu option to go to the credits)
7.Post the picture and try to include how long it took you to beat the game (actual duration in approximate hours, as well as length of time Ex. 2 weeks, a month, etc.), what you completed (final boss, 100% etc), and your personal enjoyment level
8.I will update the list of completed games alphabetically once a week or so via a comment, and games that are completed will be shown in a different color

NEW!! Achievement Levels:
:n64: E3 Gold Level: 15 or more games completed
--Highlander(34), Majora's Mask(22)

:applause: NP100 Gold Level: 10-14 game completed:

:yeah: T.R.U. Gold Level: 5-9 games completed:

I won the World Championship in FIFA 98 - Road to World Cup. It took me about 3 hours and I played on Pro-Mode (second of three difficulty settings) and a half time lenght of 4 min.

I won almost every game. Only one in the qualification was lost and tied but I qualified of course. Then in the first KO-round I played 0-0 vs Iran and won in penalty shooting. But the Final against the Netherlands were hard. I shot so often against the woodwork and the netherlands won the first two games 0-1. But in the third game the curse was broken and Germany is World Champion :mario:

Another one out of the way:

I mastered F-Zero X (well, not the first time ;) ). I won all 4 cups on MASTER-mode. It took me about 2 hours because I was still drunk this morning and thus needed several trys. Here are the winner pictures of Jack, Queen, King and Joker Cup followed by the end screen of the credits.

Snowboard Kids is now 100% complete... almost. The elusive Special Board 2 has once again escaped my grasp. I've never seen it in all the years I've had the game, and this time I've completed everything there is to complete, and still no show. I could look up a FAQ, but that would feel like cheating (don't any of you guys tell me either! :P ). I want to figure it out myself at some point, but now is not the time for that. The game is more than complete enough for this challenge.

I tried to time myself, but I kept forgetting to start/stop the timer. Instead, based on some best estimates, my guess is that I took about 6 and a half hours, over the course of 8 days.

There's lots of pictures for this one, so I'll only post a few directly here and link the rest. I'll also put it all in a spoiler tag (which has never been used in a more relevant topic  ). The black boxes on a few of the images are to hide my reflection. :phear: :P

Spoiler: click to toggle

I enjoyed it, even though the game's highlight is it's multiplayer mayhem. The scaramble for the ski lift at the bottom, planting rocks in front of said lift, "parachuting" someone just before they go over a jump, smashing into a frozen player, sending someone over a cliff after getting them with a "snowman", "panning" an opponant as they go over a jump - it's little quirks like these that set the game apart from Mario Kart and Diddy Kong in my eyes. The game has some great music too (Big Snowman and Dizzy-Land in particular). Overall, the game is very much of it's time - and I mean that as a huge compliment!

In a change of plan for me, I'll instead take up Yoshi's Story next (giving anyone after Top Gear Rally another short at claiming it).

Well, off to save the Supper Happy Tree. :D

61 out of 63 Pokemon on Pokemon snap, including Mew. I unlocked all levels, got all pokemon signs, and essentially beat the game. Photos in the spoiler:

Put me down for Gauntlet Legends (my room mate and I are planning on beating it on co-op, I hope that would still count)

Which 2 are missing?

@ddr2nite: That's how this game works :P But it's getting quite hard to kill your rivals in Master-mode. Only the last cup is always a big mayhem :)

I will go for Bust-A-Move 2 (I think this is BAM99 in the USA) now.

Next one down: Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition

At first here are 4 pictures of the last level of puzzle mode and the Puzzle Mode Credits
(I took a way that led into the middle end stage, the one with the "?")

And then 5 photos of the end of the Battle Mode including Credit and End picture. I played this one on "normal" difficulty.
All in all it took me 2 to 3 hours.

Next one for me will be Charlie Blast's Territory. I just got it today. It is an average or even bad puzzle game from what I experieced the first few minutes. The box says that there are only 60 levels and I already did 15...

Edit: Can only the Staff edit the first post now or also lithium all the time? And I'd like to make a suggestion: Can you put the whole list of North American and PAL games in the first post in alphabetical order? And then the claimed games may be red and the cleared games may be a (colorful) green. I think that would look great and give a good overview. If no one wants to do that work, I can collect things together.

So near and yet so far... Sorry for the mix up. I'll be clearer next time I nearly 100% complete game. >_<

Can we make greater use of spoiler tags please? This is probably going to be the most spoiler heavy topic the forum's ever seen, after all.

I've still to start Yoshi's Story, though I did wipe the story mode in progress, ready to start a new one fresh.

My room mate and I are over half way through Gauntlet Legends, but I see the first post hasn't been updated yet.

We lost track of how long we've been playing, but so far I would say its somewhere around 6-10 hours

Gauntlet Legends is completed. It took us about a week playing almost every night, probably a total of between 10-15 hours.

Spoiler: click to toggle

it didn't show credits at the end, but we beat every level, got every rune stone, put the whole window together (and fought Skorne in the cathedral) then beat him as the final boss in the underworld.

We're going to do Perfect Dark next.

Yesterday I challenged myself to 100% Ocarina of Time in a single sitting. I started at 3:00 pm and finished at 6:19am the following morning. So it took me a total of 16 hours and 19 minutes (including a few breaks) which I'm really happy with :w00t:

I've enclosed all images in a spoiler tag just incase someone has scandalously not played this game yet. Included is 'The End' title screen, along with all the Quest Status screens to show I got all collectables and item upgrades too.

Just completed Yoshi's Story, Did not time myself but it didnt take very long :) ( Quite a short game) Really enjoyed this game! Always been one of my favourites on N64 :) Done in One sitting! if i was roughly to estimate the time though i would say 45-60 Mins

Now if some one already called Yoshi's story i do not mind you removing this but i did check the list and no one had called it :)

What now?

I suppose it would be a bit daft for me to play through it a second time when the goal is to get through as many games as we can. My time would be better spent knocking another game off the list. Guess I'm doing Top Gear Rally after all.

Just incase that gets lost at the tail end of a paragraph:

I will now claim Top Gear Rally instead. Can I ask members to refrain from nicking it, please? :P

Edit: Ahh, Cypher edited his post while I was typing mine. I still think it's simplest if it's his completion of Yoshi's Story that counts, and I'll just take TGR instead. No hard feelings Cypher. :)

Edit:

So, just to be extra clear, I am now going to play through Top Gear Rally instead, and I no longer have any intention of playing through Yoshi's Story for the purpose of this Game Off.

I also didn't quite complete Snowboard Kids 100%, as I am still missing Special Board 2.

but the one last circuit remains.

I won that circuit (which unlocked Ben Quadinaros) and had just enough scratch to fully upgrade his pod:

I'm still on Charlie Blast, but today I wanted to play a few games of football. So I decided to choose FIFA 99 which was missing. There I played the Champions League as that is the highest tournament you can start. I played with my favorite team Bayern Munich (which in 98/99 reached the final and lost tragically against Manchester United) and played on the easiest mode. That was already as hard as the middle mode in FIFA 98 for me. After some hard matches I reached the final against Real Madrid and won 3:1. The hardest round though was the semi finals where I lost the first match against Barcelona 0:2 at home and then won 3:1 in Camp Nou

I was hoping that a standard completion of Snowboard Kids would still count - I still got the credits after all. I was only one collectable away from 100%.

I'm sorry for being such a pain in this topic. I feel like I'm cursed or something, with all the bother I'm causing. Hopefully this will be the last of it.

Now that's out the way...

I've started on Top Gear Rally. I'm midway through the third season, and I've been at it around 2 hours so far. As is usual for me, I try to stick with the starting 2 cars (the slowest) as long as I can, before I simply become too outclassed by the competitors in faster cars. I've had to restart a few races to try and be sure I finished in as high a position as I could.

Not included in the 2 hour estimate... I've been playing around in paint shop and sliding about in the snow (with slippy tires equipped) in practice mode. You might say I'm getting through the game at a leisurely pace. ^_^

Ladies and Gentlemen, please take a look at this:

2012-N64-Game-Off.xlsx

I wrote a list with all PAL and NA releases. It can of course still be completed by the Japan exclusives. If someone has a complete Japan only list, please contact me. My only source would have been wikipedia there and I want to have at least another opinion before adding that.
The list is up to date right now with everything from the first post's list and all other posts.

AFAIK there are possibilities to upload this document so that it can be edited only by some people. If someone knows how to do that, that would be a good alternative because otherwise only Clarky will have the work to edit the first post.

All suggestions for improvement are welcome.
