Hello everyone. It is time we spruce this place up a bit. I am asking everyone to weigh in on changes they would like to see here. Changes in regard to anything from how it looks to the forum sections. Please know that obviously not everything suggested here is going to happen. I am looking for what the majority wants, perhaps more what the "core" majority wants. I will weigh those wants against what I feel is best for the forum, and then make what changes I feel are appropriate. So let's here it!

@sallan89

I put up an unofficial N64 Forever chatroom here: n64chat.bgwillers.com.

A couple of us have been using it during the Mario Kart 8 tournaments on Fridays, but it's up all the time.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but a ""follow this thread" would be good. Emails when replies are made etc. I know this has been asked before but seeing all new posts since you last logged in would also be good.

A forum I list has this option and it has a long list that you can click on to see the thread replies you have missed.

That is one nice Suggestion! The website has a "Active Topic" button though at the bottom, I always check these.

@ the topic,
-I always wondered why the "likes Posted Image" are disappearing after X weeks(?) Is there a reason for it?
-Also, would it be nice if you had a (country-)Location at the bottom of your avatar?
-Maybe a Donation page?
-What about a Forum chat?

Yeah, once I found that "Active Topics" link it's the only way I browse the forum now. It's not exactly conspicuous, so here's the link. http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/search/?c=5

@buddy: I think "track topic" is supposed to work that way, but it does not appear to do so.

With respect to "likes" , I hadn't noticed that. We only started with that feature maybe two years ago. I'll review.

Country avatar: been suggested bc its a good idea, but it does not appear it can be done.

Donation page: kind of you to think of us! But we are not setup to receive donations ATM, and our only expense is the domain name, which has been generously donated in the past.

Forum chat: Zetaboards does not have this option.

Although it is not necessary, one that comes to mind- would be an in [img] limit increase per post.

Track topic actually does do something . . . but it's not all that great.

If you click on the black "PROFILE" rectangle square in your name/avatar box, and go to Edit Profile, when you click "Save Profile Changes", a "User Controls" page displays with your updated profile information. It includes a list of topics you have subscribed to. That is it.

Yes. I suspect zetaboard's template was updated to include it. As I do not tweet, I did not use my Admin powers to add it.

Wondering if there is still a N64Forever Chat floating around on the web?
Retro games are made to last. Hard to play and a you need to use your mind.
Today, it just seems you need a big wallet to finish a game.

@inattentive: There is no chat per se. There is a facebook page, however.

@N64punk: I do not believe Zetaboards has that functionality. There is a somewhat similar option to be emailed when someone posts to a thread you "subscribe" to, but that is only available if you pay for a zetaboards membership (which of course is wholly independent of this site . . . we don't make a dime).

how about more Groups? :P then 'Established Members' and 'Senior Members'

We can do post count based on the rarity of the N64? for example:

1-50 post grey/standard/charcoal (Charcoal might sound a bit harsh)
51-200 funtastic
...gold,
...Daiei,
...Comboy
...Jusco,
...ANA,
...Lawson,

Also I don`t understand why some topic do have a "Fast reply" and some do not.
(for example: this one does, but This one doesn`t)

Could be fun to have more groups. Fast reply must be enabled in the forum controls for each individual section. I have meant for a few years to inquire opinions on making it universal across the forum. I am for that if others are as well?

I was wondering if there was any way to increase the file size for our Avatars? I have been playing around with gifs but 25kb is very hard to stay under. I understand if this would be too taxing for the site running all the avatars on a page but there are subs that have many larger images posted on the page, like the Mario Kart hot lap thread, perhaps thats because they are linked images IDK.

Good thing people are having ideas, don't you think?

Maybe a good idea is activly use these ideas into a monthly bundle, vote for them and the promote the new things on the facebook group?
I don't mean we need a constant flow of new ideas.
But new and old members still seem to have plenty of ideas to change and adapt the forums to the uses we need it for.

(it's been a year since we've used this section of the forum. and in about 2days you guys came up with alot of new ideas)

I think new ideas are always a good thing. I know that ZetaBoards does have its limits though, so as awesome as some ideas will be, not everything is within the realm of possibility.

But without asking the question, we won't know the limits! Just wanted to throw out that just because some things never get realized, doesn't mean they aren't good ideas.

I've made the adjustment, should be universal now. Really an oversight by me on the ones I set up. :-8 There are quite a few variables one must account for in setting up a forum; I seemed to have missed that one. But keen observation, Vinyl :yeah:

I am sure a lot of folks access the site via mobile. I do frequently, but it works for me well. Perhaps we could soon commission someone who has made a theme for us in the past to make a mobile specific theme. Anybody interested?

My knowledge on web design is pretty limited but I can see what I can come up with

might take me a while though
