Cleaning N64 carts; Any DIY guides/advice?

I just get a j-cloth, and make a slightly damp patch on it, then wrap it around a knife in such a way that the damp bit is showing. I then run this over the pins on both sides. I then re-wrap the j-cloth around the knife with only dry cloth showing, and repeat. Works really well, have been doing this for years and the pins look perfect. Games boot first time, always. One thing I've never cleaned is the cart slot. Not sure how I'd do that.
