I've been searching for a month. There's a handful of copies on eBay but they have been consistently in the $20+ range and nearly all possible carts are in terrible cosmetic condition. The ones that may be in good condition have either crappy pictures or the sellers won't return a message about the item's overall condition. Sosafan assures me they have a nice copy, but I don't like buying expensive/must have games sight unseen. |

Don't forget to also check Amazon.com. You may pay a little bit more but you may also be able to find a copy of KIG in better condition. Here are some pictures of mine: ![]() ![]() ![]() I've been playing this game quite a bit as I'm trying to master Kim Wu's combos. She's really a neat character with great range thanks to her fire balls, but she's also deadly up close thanks to her three different openers. |

Amazon.com is buying without seeing the actual condition of the cartridge. I just don't trust that method of sale when buying probably the highest priced cart of my collection. I've got a possible on eBay, seller is going to try to get me pictures sometime tomorrow. I think I came off the wrong way in this thread, I'm not desperate to find it, I'm just voicing an observation about this game. It's the last game I need to finish what I call the "first 7" .....

For a game that old, considering that it WAS a lunch title, you aren't going to spend no less than $30 for a decent copy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Killer-Instinct-Gold-Nintendo-64-CLEANED-GUARANTEED-/310413413958?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item484614ce46 That one is going for $32, with free shipping, AND it comes with the manual and quick reference card. If I were you, I'd snatch that up. |

The most I've spent on a launch title was $16 for Mario 64, which is absolutely mint. You've basically went on eBay and linked me to the most expensive one available. I went and looked at that seller's other items and he's consistently $5-10 too high on all his items. I imagine his stuff will just sit. I may message and ask if they are taking offers. I will find it for around $20-24... I'll just keep hunting. It's just odd to me that out of all the games I've purchased this title is becoming the hardest to hunt and most costly. One sold for $15 today that I didn't pull the trigger on because the seller didn't post a picture of the rear. Edited by brown duckz, Jul 28 2012, 08:08 PM.

Fair enough. I've always looked at it like this, if you want something nice, be ready to fork out the price. Sure, I've scored some deals, but sometimes you gotta bend over. Haha. Tried to help. Good luck! P.S. Just an FYI, you can always swap backs using a donor cartridge if it bothers you THAT much. |

No hard feelings, but I'm just budget minded with my collection. Just because 10 sellers have their carts listed at $25+ doesn't mean that's what they are selling for. I've had to use the donor cart method on a few that have come in with less than desirable rear condition. I'm just towards the end of my collecting, so I'm not in a rush, & taking my time with this one because it's an important title. Ones going to pop up, hopefully by one of my trusted sellers that I don't have any problem buying from no questions asked. Christian |

KIG isn't just a great game to collect but also a very fun game to play and that may explain why it's rather pricey. The fighting engine holds up quite well against many modern fighting games and the combos can be rather thrilling to pull off and watch. |

Wouldn't it be nice to have the original arcade versions of KI and KI2 re-released in HD for the Wii U? Nicer still would be the inclusion of on-line play. Hey, I downloaded Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers for the current Wii Virtual Console and it includes on-line play! This is really nice as I get to use my TvC fightstick with it and relive the 90's arcade experience. ![]() Sadly, I don't have a 6-button arcade stick for my N64 so I gotta play KIG with the standard pad or the 3rd-party Madcatz controller seen in my previous photo. This isn't horrible but I'm sure the game would play much better with some sort of arcade style stick. |

Another one just popped up on eBay for $15 but it's not near mint. At least I know the market isn't bat s**t crazy for the game yet. eBay link |

Good luck, let us know how it turns out. In the meantime, here's a little video that shows how fun Killer Instinct Gold is to actually play. The game was way ahead of it's time with wake-ups, pressure moves, juggles and even a parry system long before Street Fighter III made the concept popular. Also, unlike the original Killer Instinct- KIG includes throws and even throw reversals. The game is so deep that if the characters hadn't of been pre-rendered, thus blurry during close-ups, many people would mistake KIG for a thoroughly modern fighting game.

RIP Killer Instinct. I long await a KI:3, but the day will never come. Such a great, epic fighter, that should have gotten WAY more attention than it did. Edited by LordXaero, Jul 30 2012, 12:15 PM.

I got it for $13 from a NA member. Ended up buying a pile of games and a controller for about $45. The rear label shows a little age, but I bought some early titles with nice backs. I should get my near mint cart out of the deal. Probably going to use some of the rear halves from the rest of the haul to upgrade some in my collection and sell off the duplicates. I should have a fairly large for sale thread before the end of August |
