Although I've never read a single issue of Nintendo Power in my life, I know that it will hit a lot of folks hard to hear this bit of news. It has been announced that Nintendo Power magazine is coming to an end at some point in the near future. Share your thoughts and stories about a classic gaming publication?

N64 collection completed 7/29/12
I just saw an article about this a few hours ago. I remember reading all of the 90s issues. I have PDF's of most of the issues in the 80s, and all of the N64 related ones, on my laptop. It's a shame to see a childhood thing die like this.

I guess that's what happens to everything over time, it all gets phased out. Nintendo Power was good and will be missed.

Controller Collecting Extraordinaire
Yeah, this makes me very sad. I remember spending hours upon hours reading those magazines growing up (through the SNES and N64 years). I've ordered several times from the Nintendo Power Supplies catalogs, and loved everything the magazine had to offer. Very sad news indeed :( ;_;

I wonder if the value of them will go up once publication officially ends...

one more thing to collect. price will fluctuate but not much. i bet the gamecube/wii era will be worth some money in a few years. i dont know if they sold very well. thye probably were thrown out quickly. this will be a collectable for sure, but you'll need a nice shelf to hold them all !

Just last week, I got a really good offer on a subscription to Nintendo Power magazine. I guess it's a good idea I decided not to subscribe.

Wow, that's interesting. Apparently they have something pretty sweet and memorable planned for the last issue. I just subscribed again today in an effort to get one of the last issues shipped to me. I will probably buy a bookstore copy as well either way.

"Nintendo Power's last issue will be the December 2012 issue, which will be mailed to subscribers in late November and sold on newsstands starting December 11."

Also, if you are a subscriber who has paid for passed Dec 2012 they will refund you the extra money.

I got my first issue in December of 1997 (Diddy Kong Racing). I think I've got about 55 issues. Half of them have the front cover worn off from overuse, some the back cover too. I stopped buying it around the time that it stopped being published by Nintendo and switched to a third-party (a few years ago). Style changed completely, for the worse IMO.

The best sections were Counselor's Corner (tips for games), and Classified Information (cheats).

Collector of everything.
That's too bad. A close friend of mine had a subscription back in the day of the N64. I remember hanging out at his house and reading them while we would take turns playing one player games.
Current N64 focus: NTSC-U carts. Current count: 108/296 (36.5%), 4 NTSC-J.

Its almost here! I really hope I subscribed in time to get the final issue in the mail within the next few days. I haven't been this stoked about getting a Nintendo Power issue since my first issue arrived back in February 2005. :D
