Just thought I'd point out that on this day, Sept. 9th, in 1999, the Sega Dreamcast debuted in the U.S.! That makes it 13 years old. It is hard to believe that some of my most beloved consoles are creeping closer and closer to the 15-20 year old mark. Dang, I miss the 90s! |

Endure and survive...

I certainly agree that the late 90's was a fantastic period and gaming history..I never owned a Dreamcast, but my best friend had one. I enjoyed crazy taxi on it a good bit. I always had trouble viewing the Dreamcast as a part of the PS2\Gamecube generation. It felt more like a tweener system to me. That being said I hope to someday have one and and get a chance to try some of its' classic games. |

Was like having your own arcade in your room. I loved this console and was upset about its early departure. I still have mine pluged up via VGA to my AV reciever today. I loved how some of the 3rd party N64 games had a dreamcast versions and they had so much better graphics. My hope when buying a Wii U is the same will follow without it being cut short. |

According to wikipedia you are correct about the PlayStation, but they show August 23 and possibly even August 13 as the date for SNES. Sept. 9 is said to be the official launch date but the consoles were shipped and for sale by the dates in August, apparently.
