What is this set?
This set is called the "Randnet Delivery Set". Its contents includes the Randnet Starter Kit (which has the 64DD console, modem, modular cable, and Randnet disk), a full N64 set (version: Clear Black, which is the same color as the Smoke console), and four 64DD games (Mario Artist, F-Zero X Expansion Kit, Simcity 64, and Doshin the Giant). The keyboard was not part of the Randnet Delivery Set, it was purchased separately.

Where did you purchase this set and how much did it cost?
This set was purchased from Yahoo Japan Auctions. The ending price of the auction was Y61,001 (a bit over $760 USD). There was of course, additional commissions and additional shipping costs involved in the overall purchase, as I had used a proxy bidding + shipping service in Japan.

Other Important Information
The original auction did not show too many pictures and I actually didn't know that the whole set was also packed in the original cardboard box. This was a huge bonus for me as a collector, as I'm after the original box, paperwork, bags, etc. Even that outer box is in great condition (I managed to remove most of the stickers and postage labels without any damage or leaving behind residue).

Everything inside the box is near brand new. If any of it was used, it was not used more than a couple times in my best approximation. The blue and white Mario Artist disks, as well as the F-Zero X Expansion Kit disk aren't even opened. They are still sealed in the original plastic shrink wrap. All bags, instruction manuals, and warranty paperwork are all present and accounted for.

The keyboard was purchased in a separate auction, and just like the Randnet Delivery Kit, it too also came in the original shipping box. The keyboard looks brand new and unused, inside the plastic bag along with paperwork within the box.

I know that there are oftentimes a lot of confusion about a "Randnet N64 controller" or "64DD N64 controller" that Japanese sellers sometimes try to auction on Ebay. This fully boxed Randnet Delivery Kit shows that the N64 set that comes bundled is the Japanese "Clear Black" which the rest of the world calls Smoke. Thus the Japanese sellers are actually correct in their naming convention, but since there's not a way to tell a regular Clear Black (Smoke) set apart from the set that comes included in a Randnet Delivery Kit... it's not worth the huge markup that they try to sell it at. Hopefully the pictures from my full set will clear up any previous confusion about the names and proves that the Clear Black set was indeed bundled with 64DD sets in this "Randnet Delivery Set".

Until next time, happy collecting and long live the N64 folks! :mario:

Nice find! Never seen one in that box! These things are outrageously priced though, I can't bring my self to buy one.

I believe you're correct Finngamer.

And I've noticed that I'm actually missing the cardboard tray (picture below) that holds the modem, cable, and Randnet disk :(

Nice collection. I love my DD and it always plugged in,sadly the lack of games means it does not see that much action but a great Nintendo 64 must have. Did you own parts of it before? I am still lokking for a spare mouse if you doubled up. If I knew it would be hard to get, I really should have noticed it was not part of the lot I bought. :-/

No, I never had any pieces or games of the 64DD before this purchase... so no extra mouse, sorry. I hadn't thought too much about buying a 64DD set but this was too good of a deal for a collector to pass up.

Yeah I've seen those on EBay, but his prices are pretty high. Roughly $20 each - multiply that by 12 issues (6 issues of Randnet, 6 issues of Doshin the Giant) and you're looking at $240 in paper goods. I'm not sure that I'm willing to pay that amount...
