Just a little blurb to put it out there that I have finally decided what I want to focus on in my collecting. I've been picking up games for consoles all across the board for the last year or two with no real focus on anything specifically, other than picking up games I had parted with or had really wanted in the past. Now I can say, with all assuredness, that I will be focusing on the original PlayStation with the intent on, hopefully, having a complete collection someday. That is a big task but at least it should take a long time to complete and I already have a decent number of sought after titles. I'm definitely not turning my back on the N64 or any other console I have. I will still buy new games and seek out good deals on older games whenever they appear. I just want to hone in on a highlighted platform and, as everyone is always so quick to advise newcomers, collect something that I love and that makes me happy. I guess I'm just putting it out there in case anyone has any PS1 games they might be looking to unload. If you have any good deals then let me know. I'm in a financial position right now where I don't have much money to spend but keep me in mind for the future, if you would. Thanks a lot.

That's cool. I collect all over the board as well, and haven't really stuck to one specific console. It's cool that you know what direction you're seeking. Good luck on the complete collection. You should make a list of what you have, and what you are looking for. |

GL... hate to be a downer but I doubt you'll see it through if you didn't finish N64. PS1 is like 1300 games or so. I was on a strong PS1 kick for about 8-10 months and I still only have around 250-300 completes. When you get to large libraries like that, there are tons of filler titles too. |

Yeah, it should be a lengthy process but I sort of prefer that. I don't have to worry about what I'm going to collect when I'm done because it will probably take forever. By the way, can anyone pinpoint the exact number? Wikipedia has a list but it includes all Japanese and PAL releases and rests at over 2400 games. I'd love to find a list of just the NA releases.I'm also going to pick up both an original fat PS1 console and the slim version released around 2000 at some point, hopefully CIB. N64 collection completed 7/29/12

I've actually been working on making an accurate list. The ones I see have alternate versions of games (Crash 4-pack, or Spyro collection, Driver double pack). It's a bit less than 1300, I know that. I haven't finished the list, but I started at 1300 and I've been removing games when I see they don't belong. Also, I hate finding lists online because the guys who make it keep doing the most annoying thing in the world. Why do they put some games in alphabetical order, others grouped by series, and others in chronological order?! If all the Final Fantasy's go together, then all the James Bond games should, too. And why do they alphabetize the Spyro games and put the Twisted Metals in order? I see this happen with the Tony Hawk games on later consoles too. They always put Tony Hawk's American Wasteland before Pro Skater 3, 4, Underground, and Underground 2. That means it's organized as Tony Hawk 7, 3, 4, 5, 6. |

I'd love to see that list if you complete it. And I like to order my games on the shelf alphabetically but when I come to a series I put the games in order of release. So all my Tony Hawk games would be in the order that they came out. Otherwise it would just be annoying. |

It is def going to be a long haul to get all those titles. I wonder how many people around the world actually have a complete set? I've just started going for the complete original Xbox PAL set and that's got like 750+ titles in it's collection. Only up to 107 atm, and that for me will take years I reckon. Good luck with it all mate. |

It is definitely a daunting task, but for some reason I'm totally at ease with it. I'm not freaking out like I normally would. Instead, I'm quite calm and at peace with the fact that I may never get them all but I'll absolutely have a blast shooting for it and reliving a lot of good old memories of the 90s. I still think that era, from the Super NES to the PS2, was the best time in gaming, at least for me. EDIT: I figure I should probably mention that I'm not picky (at the moment) about Greatest Hits titles. As long as I have every game in the library. Down the road, if I feel like it, I'll probably try to pick up black label versions of any games I have the GH version of. Edited by The Red Shadow, Nov 7 2012, 09:30 AM.
