Busted out the N64(finally!) this morning and I'm just sort of sampling through all my games to make sure they work. So I've played Jet Force Gemini, WWF No Mercy and now I'm on Resident Evil 2. More to come! |

I sampled through just about all of my N64 games before finally settling in with playthroughs of GoldenEye, SW: Battle for Naboo and a season of NBA Live '99. I did play some Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine last night, just to make sure it worked. It did.

Metroid Prime. I've been on the same playthrough since June 2006 and I still haven't completed it... That's just wrong, I know. But I'm close. I just beat the Omega Pirate, so I'm almost there. Of course I'm also playing other games in between: Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Zack and Wiki just to name a few. |

Here's my impressions of the Gamecube games I got recently.
Wario World (Gamecube) Gotta admit, my memories of Wario World weren't all that great so I was quite surprised to find a decent platform game here. Wario World is really a 3D version of the Wario Land games for the Game Boy and it works quite well. Wario's world might not be the biggest or have the most exploration but the emphasis is really on the combat. You can punch, charge and throw your enemies out of your way and, whilst most levels have a side on perspective reminisant of 2D side scrolling platformers, the bosses are fully 3D. It's quite an enjoyable game and it's left me puzzled as to why I traded it in years ago. Mario Golf Toadstool Tour (Gamecube) I've never been a fan of golf games (Wii Sports being the only exception so far) and this one doesn't do much for me either. I thought I'd give it a try since Mario Golf on the N64 was fun for a while and it's kinda the same. But I can't see me playing it very often. Geist (Gamecube) This game's lukewarm reception in the gaming press is warranted; it's okay but it doesn't seems to fulfil it's potential. Played it for about fifteen minutes, got bored and my trigger finger hurt (I hate the Gamecube's crappy analogue triggers). I need to play it some more before I can really judge it but so far, not really so good. Resident Evil Code Veronica X Which completes my RE on Gamecube series! I now own REmake, RE2, RE3, RE:CV and RE: Zero on the cube... although I sold RE4 for the cube some time ago cos the Wii version is better. Code Veronica X doesn't seem to be much changed from the Dreamcast original... actually, I not noticed any difference so far. Playing it now RE:CV feels kinda clunky and doesn't really look all that great. The animation of Claire Redfield (the character you control) is pretty bad but then that's down to the archaic control scheme. Surprisingly, this doesn't affect the gameplay too badly and I quickly got drawn into the game again. I never finished this on the Dreamcast and I'm hoping that being able to play the Gamecube version on the Wii will make it more accessible (before if I wanted to play it I had to dig out my Dreamcast and hook it up). Anyway, it's good but it feels older than it actually is. |

Hell yeah. I have fond memories of that game. Lately I've been playing Red Alert 2 on the PC. Good fun, I used to make maps for it AGES ago, and all the sites that had them don't seem to exist anymore. Oh well. Also, I'm occasionally playing Animal Crossing. (Gamecube) And thats all I've had time for lately, no spare time at all.

My gaming the last few weeks has been split between Ocarina of Time and MLB '06 The Show for PS2. I have a career going on the baseball game and I always seem to return to it for awhile during baseball season(go figure). I had been really moving along on OoT but now I'm at a point where I'm gonna go Poe hunting and it's just got me out of my OoT mood for the moment. But I'll return to it soon, I'm sure. |

I finally completed Metroid Prime! I've started it in June of 2006 and only completed it now :). I didn't play such a lot though, my end time was 12:53 and item percentage was 73%. That time is way too low though, I must have died at least 200 times in that game (I know, I suck). Still, I'm finally done with it! Next up: Mario Kart Wii, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (I'll only do the first case and import Trials and Tribulations after that, to play them in order), Metroid Prime 2, Metroid Prime 3, Metroid Prime Hunters, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission. |

GTA IV - Probably about half way through now. It's dominating my gaming time. Eternal Sonata - Got a little further and done a little level grinding. This game is pretty good. Lost Odyssey - Just started playing it but I can already see a great game here. The story is pretty good so far. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion - So much still to do. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - Just finished the story, need to go back and replay the levels to unlock more characters and find more secrets. Mario Kart Wii - For all my criticism of it, it's still a good game, especially with other people. Spent a good few hours playing it last weekend when I had guests round. I miss a go if anyone passes me the wheel because I hate that wheel! Wiimote and nunchuk for the win!

I'm very hooked up on Neverwinter Nights still
I am playing one user-created module, Sands of Fate, it's a really good one
Also I'm playing Mario Kart DS again still trying to get 3 stars on ALL cups Easier said than done, though... Well at least 50cc and 100cc I got 3 stars on every cup, and with 150cc and mirror mode I got at least 2 stars on every cup, but some seem just very difficult to earn 3 stars for :yo: |

-GTA:LCS(PSP) I'm on Shoreside Vale(the third island) right now, so I would assume I am towards the end of the story line. LCS really is a great game, I played through it a few years back and then set it aside. Right now I am having fun with a cheat file. -FF:VII:Crisis Core(PSP) Pretty awesome game, I need to level up abit though, since I am getting my ass kicked on a certain boss. |

Last night I finished Halo 3 on the hardest difficulty setting (Legendary). I'm also playing: GTA IV - I've needed a break from GTA IV this week, as it had been all that I was playing for about a month. Anyway, I'm on the second island and am going back to do some side missions (most wanted, delivering packages, etc). Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Completed the arena today, now I'm going back to the Fighters Guild to do their quests. Call of Duty 4 - Want to finish this on the hardest difficulty setting. I'm up to the Ghillied Up mission on Veteran. Call of Duty 2 - Now about half way through the single player. I'm playing through it on Veteran difficulty, which is pretty tough seen as I haven't played through the game on a lesser difficulty first (as I did with Halo 3 and CoD4). Gears of War - Playing through it for the first time, despite having had the game for over a year. It takes a while to get used to the cover mechanic but when you do it becomes a really great game. Lost Odyssey - Not far in but enjoyed what I had played so far. I'd like to return to either this or Eternal Sonata this week. Both are good fun although graphically they couldn't be more different. |

I saw a video of the mission in which "someone sets you up the bomb", in a manner of speaking, as well as the final mission. Both scared me and made me sad at the same time. I actually cried a bit. The single player in that game must be absolutely amazing. I've been playing the original Mega Man's for some reason. The other day I got really bored and played all 6 in a row. |

It is. I've heard people say it's too short. Well, they need to play it on Veteran difficulty, which is about as harsh and realistic as you'd want games to get. Was the video you seen disabling a bomb, or this one (skip to about 7 minutes in for the rescue and the inevitable results): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyildIJc2sc
I've better games to play. If i have friends round then Mario Kart Wii might get played but it's just not that good as a single player or an online multi. It's a shame cos it would be much more fun online if there was some kind of interaction between the players. |

But it's currently the only game that you can play with your pal Mop_it_up. I'm not really disappointed in the game itself, but rather that you don't seem to like it...

It was the later. My jaw drops just watching that. I'm almost shocked that something like that is even in a game. I usually don't like realism in shooters, but I'd get this one immediately if I had a system that could play it. |

Been playing a few games today: Ninja Gaiden II (Xbox 360) - It's everything I'd expect from a Ninja Gaiden game; extreme difficulty, a huge sense of achievement when you get past each stage, fast combat, great combos, huge bosses and beautifully constructed characters and locations. It's a really rewarding game. The only bad thing I've noticed is that the camera is very occasionally erratic, other than that it seems flawless. The Simpsons Game (Playstation 2) - Oh dear. I picked this up because it was cheap but I can see why. The camera is frankly awful; it feels like a struggle to line it up so you can get a decent viewpoint in the game, it frequently gets stuck on objects and it swings to the most ridiculous angles (often leaving your view completely obscured). It's a ****ing nightmare. On the plus side, this is the first 3D Simpsons game to get the look right. No more weird looking, shiny 3D characters, instead the characters are cel-shaded to appear 2D when they are in fact 3D. And it works really well in the 360 version (which I've played a demo of) but in the PS2 version it's not so convincing. This version looks like it's been drawn using an Etch-a-sketch... all the sharp corners, jaggies, etc are there in plain sight and the game looks really quite bad. You need to check that this is a PS2 game and not a PS1 game. The controls feel clumsy and the gameplay isn't anything special. It's not good at all. The last Simpsons console game (Hit and Run) is five years old now but it's still better than this. Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360) - Finally opened up the last island, so I've been exploring it. The difficulty spike, which I expect to happen in most GTA games, seemed curiously absent in this one... until the later missions opened up. You're expected to take down muliple squads of police... perhaps as much as 50 policemen in some missions. It gets really quite hectic, especially when the armoured police arrive with assault rifles. Anyway, still working my through the game and the end is in sight. And I'm expecting more seriously hard missions before then... ![]() The Darkness (Xbox 360) - It's getting to the stage where even I have to question the sheer amount of first person shooters on the 360 and I'm a big fan of that genre. This presents a real problem for me because the 360 has far too many good first person shooters that I'd like to try... but then I just want to play them all. Anyway, The Darkness is yet another good FPS and one which presents a different take on the genre. You start off blasting your way through the first level, much as you would in any other shooter, and then your characters hidden powers reveal themselves. It seems that you are some kind of demon and can call on the help of your demon powers to maim and murder the people who are trying to kill you. Some of the powers are really good and present new opportunities to take down enemies, for example; will you enter a firefight guns blazing or will you find a quiet corner, shoot out the lights to enhance your darkness powers and then sent a snake-like demon head from your body to kill the enemies around the corner? And the look of sheer horror when the demon tears their face off and eats their heart... well, that wins almost every time.
