Can you switch items off?

In local multiplayer, you can set items to balanced, aggressive (you think items are bad now? Try it on aggressive!), strategic (mostly bananas and green shells), or off entirely. Unfortunately no such options exists online, so we would have to mutually agree to not use the items we pick up. That is why it would have to be a 1-on-1 race; since we can't communicate with other players we can't request a no-item race. We would have to go by the honour system, and trust that whichever one of us is losing isn't using speed-boosting items.

Kicked his (her?) ass this time. Now I'm in the snowy plains. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be there or the Talon Overworld West. Oh well, I'll figure it out soon enough I guess...

Finished Conflict Desert Storm (PS2) on co-operative again. When played on hard mode, the difficulty is just about right. Each level takes two or three attempts, so you don't cruise through, but you don't get discouraged from playing.

Still exploring Talon IV.

When I first played MP1, I literally spent all of my free time for like a week playing it. It was goddamndiculously fantastic. How far are you? My favorite part was probably the mines. Or maybe the end game, when you could just explore and look for all the items you missed.

I'm playing Stafy 3 and 4, Persona 3 FES, and Front Mission 4.

Just finished Peter Jacksons King Kong (360). It's decent but not great. The camera on the last few levels is just awful.

Also playing: Call of Duty 3, Kameo: Elements of Power, Scene It, Virtua Fighter 5 and Forza Motorsport 2.

After being underwhelmed by Okami and ditching God Hand before finishing it, I've now picked up my Lunar: Silver Star Story game for the PS1 that I had strayed from for months. I just love this RPG. It's amongst my favorite console RPGs of all-time.

So an office-mate's been obliging me to play online Halo 3 with her... long before I'd ever resolved to buy a price-cut-360. So to put in a little practice time, I tried playing some original Halo this afternoon. Got about half-way through the first level before the wonderful motion-sickness set in. :-X >_< :( ;_; I might try again... as I have a theory that I THINK I was doing okay during the normal FPS portion, and didn't get vomit-mouthed until the horrendous Warthog cave section.

It did look/sound awful pretty on my 70" projection and surround sound system, though...

I feel cursed. <_<

Might have to stick to Professor Layton, Guitar Hero, and Zack & Wiki. Speaking of which, I JUST today figured out how to BEGIN (what I assume is) the last level/puzzle of Z&W!! :w00t:

Now Playing: Clash Royale (mobile), Gravity Rush 2, Rayman Legends, Project CARS, Uncharted 4 Survival Mode ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Finished the story missions in GTA a few days ago. Now I'm doing the side missions... there's still a lot to do before I get 100% completion. :)

52 hours into Final Fantasy X-2, with a nice 94% completion under way. Now I've just got the defeat the most powerful boss in the game (1,000,000 HP) and I'll be on the straight and narrow road to 100%.

Finished Call of Duty 4 (360) last night. That game was incredible!

*spoilers, maybe?*

That scene where the nuclear bomb goes off and your helicopter crashes, and you're out stumbling around with that mushroom cloud off in the distance was so surreal. Just wish I had a huge HD TV to enjoy it ever more.

After finishing Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (PS1) I moved on to Legend of Legaia, also for PS1, and beat it. Now I'm working on it's sequel for the first time, Legaia 2: Duel Saga for the PS2.

Yeah, it's one of the best FPS's available. Ever. Now I must add in the usual line about going online because the online multiplayer in CoD4 is quite simply:

Wipeout HD.

First impressions: orgasmilicious... although I've only played 2 single races on the easiest/slowest settings so far... and it seemed a bit on the slow end of things. Which I'm sure will change as I progress.

[EDIT] Made it into the second round/"matrix"... and I can already tell things will get insane fast. This game I  so much already.

Also spending a bit of time with MotorStorm... which is all good fun. Gameplay makes me thing of something like a love child between Excite Truck and Burnout 3.

Yeah, Motorstorm is nice, I like it.

I finished Lost Via Domus on the 360. It's a ****ing terrible game, I'm glad it's only four hours long. One of my friends recommended it so I rented it but it just got worse and worse as the game progressed.

I could moan about it some more, or I could write a scathing review.

*goes off to write the review*

Motorstorm is so much fun, but what's up with the lack of options? Split screen multiplayer would have been nice.

I'm playing:

Call of Duty 4 (Xbox 360)

So very, very close to completing this game on veteran (hardest) difficulty. I only have one level and one bonus level to go but unfortunately they're the hardest in the game. Still, I'm making a little progress each time. :)

Call of Duty 2 (Xbox 360)

Also trying to complete this on veteran difficulty, so I guess I'm a sucker for punishment. Four or five missions to go so there's still a lot to do.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3)

This is the first game I've played that seems to really push the PS3 and some of the tracks are just mind-blowingly pretty. Thankfully the Prologue games don't force you to play the boring driving tests before you get in the great cars. You know the kind of thing; "drive around this corner in a dull family hatchback". Car racing games should be banned from having Daihatsus, it's just wrong.

Wipeout HD (PS3)

It's gorgeous but I've gotta agree with floorcat; it does seem a bit slow so far.

Turok Evolution (Gamecube)

I bought this to remind myself why people hate it. Truth be told it's not all that bad but it does lack the excitement, and originality, of the previous Turok games.

I'm gonna take a momentary break from Legaia 2 to slip in a game of Dino Crisis. Shan't take too long and then it's back to the RPG.

Here's what I've played this week:

Mario Kart Wii
Five months later and this game is still as addictive as ever. I'm still rocking Birdo + Standard Kart, but the Standard Bike has become a mainstay and the Sprinter + Automatic is now part of the rotation. Of course, none of those vehicles can match up to the Bullet/Mach/Bowser Bike, so I'll never reach 9999 VR unless I switch to one of them. But where's the fun in that? I avoid Worldwide races as not only does it tend to have more bikers, but it is usually more laggy. Regional works great though; rarely any lag and even fewer disconnections. The only problem there is that hackers are becoming a little more frequent... Battle is a nice break from the races but I'm not too fond of it. Since you can still lose BR even if your team wins, it doesn't encourage teamwork as you'll want to score the most points yourself rather than simply helping your team score. No more local multiplayer as of late... :(

Super Mario Galaxy
I really miss the slide attack, that was my favourite move... but I've got to let go of what I know of Super Mario 64 if I want to enjoy this game to its fullest. People have compared this game to Super Mario Brothers 3, and my first impression is... that might be an apt comparison. While Super Mario Brothers 3 didn't really offer up anything revolutionary, it expanded upon the ideas put forth in the first two games and created unsurpassed 2D platforming excellence. From what little I've played so far, Galaxy appears it may accomplish the same for the 3D Mario games, but I'll need to play more before I come to such a conclusion. However, being able to walk on an object 360 degrees can be disorienting... I think this is the first game that's given me a headache when I was sober.

Mario Strikers Charged
I don't really like this game, but I thought I'd give it another chance. My opinion hasn't changed, though... This game doesn't follow the pick-up-and-play mentality of other Mario games in that it isn't very accessible due to confusing controls; each button has a different action depending on whether you're on offense or defense. It takes hours just to learn the basics, and even after that you're never comfortable with the controls. Beyond that, there's almost no skill involved in this game due to the most inept goalie in existence. There's no need to try anything fancy as a quick shot from the side is almost guaranteed to go in. The game is just one big back and forth of spamming the same cheap trick and hoping you come out ahead. In any case, it is always fun to check others into the electric fence using Birdo; he may think he's a girl but he certainly doesn't hit like one!

Bomberman Blast
You run around and blow stuff up. What more needs to be said?

I started DQVIII today. I've only been able to play it for around half an hour though. I'm at Farberry (or something like that, first town) and level one. Go me.

I played DQVIII some more today. I'm about three hours in and my two characters are up to level 7. I just went through the first "dungeon" of the game and defeated the boss...on the third try. The psyche up option is neat, but tends to mess me up (and caused me to lost the first two times).
