rogue squadron II and III: these games are incredibly addicting. i got my first gold ever on a level yesterday, and i never felt more achieving than this. these games are pure gold

super mario sunshine: i can now appreciate how this game goes back to basics after the more adventurous approach of SM64. we've got many abstract levels, less focus on exploring and more focus on difficult jumps. the enjoyment comes from the level design; every square inch is just MADE for various acrobatic moves. also, the sunny vacation feeling of this game is enough to cure any depression

wave race blue storm: this is all about gameplay. never have i been more immersed in a 3D world than in this game. you feel the waves, the ice, the tsunamis... its like your really there.

F zero GX: i can see me playing this for two days straight and still not get enough.

goldeneye rogue agent: nothing like the N64 goldeneye. its all about the shooting action and the 4 'special powers' which pretty much make this game unique. all the 7/10 reviews are wrong; this one easily gets a 8.9. its a classic single player pre the COD revolution, and thus its all about being a one man army without QTE's in any shape, colour or form. i find me playing this more than TS future perfect, it provides a more arcadey shooter feel which i prefer over too much exploration.

Another #1 ranking in Zen Pinball 2!
Now i'm #1 on the Tesla and Eldorado tables and #2 on Shaman (somebody sneaked past me).
Currently working on reaching the #1 position on the V12 leaderboard.

Just got done playing a few levels of Super Mario 3D World. The SNES Mario Kart-inspired Mount Must Dash is most enjoyable and a killer tribute soundtrack to boot. Could not reach that 3rd star, but kept playing anyway because it was so much fun.

Playing a bunch of Shadow of Mordor mostly. That and CoD Advanced Warfare. My Hyrule Warriors has only seen half an hour of play since I got it. Need a slap to the face or something so as to not neglect Nintendo! However I did finally get F-Zero GX and played a lot of it yesterday :)

The game's size & scope is just IN SANE. Insanely HUGE.
But I'm targeting to earn my trophy 100%/platinum tonight... or at least the next day or two. :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

So true. For the most part, it is so much easier and light-hearted than NSMB Wii U, which the kids and I picked up again this week, having made it to Peach's Castle and hit wall after wall a month or two ago. Getting close to finally confronting Bowser . . . Each is definitely a masterpiece in there own right, IMHO.

Not playing it yet, but hopefully after work I'll be able to get my hands on some Assassins Creed Unity for the PS4. Reviews have been average, but I usually don't worry about that, hopefully it'll be good :yeah:

Played about 4 hours of Assassins Creed Unity last night. So far I'm liking it, looks like there are a few frame rate issues going on though which is only a bit annoying. Mechanics are down a bit too. Seems far to hard to climb up stuff than it has done before. All in all I would say that Ubisoft has possibly rushed this game out the door, as I feel it's just missing that little bit of polish.

Hopefully Ubisoft haven't made the same mistakes with Far Cry 4. Next week really can't come quick enough. I am so excited for this game :D :yeah:

I've actually heard more people complimenting Rogue and pointing out issues with Unity, which blows me away. At the same time, it makes me quite glad that I'll get Rogue someday. Ubisoft has already been addressing some issues with Unity but I think that was directed at the PC version. I hope they get to fixing the issues with the console versions for those of you that have it.

As for Far Cry 4, I really wish I was able to get it next week. That was the only game I wanted on day one for the rest of the year but I don't have the budget for it. Its going to be hard enough just taking care of Christmas for the kiddo. Thank goodness for Disney Infinity Marvel Edition getting a nice price drop for the Black Friday sales at Walmart because that is already in layaway and they lock in the cheapest price even if it goes back up before you get it out. ^_^

Yeah I'm hearing the same mate. It looks like Rogue might be the better game. I'll be getting that for sure, but I think I'll wait for a price drop first. So far Unity hasn't been too bad. Just doesn't fell polished. An update would be nice to fix some of those problems.

Now that I'm done with Pokemon Black 2 and Kingdom Hearts II, I'll be playing more Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role for PS1 until this Friday. Also, my friend and I are working together to get through Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2. We've already done the Wild Things scenario and are moving on to Underbelly.

Saints Row the Third. Playing this right after finishing GTA IV was a bit disorienting control/camera-wise... but once adjusted, it's now hard to imagine going back to Liberty City WITHOUT the absurdly ridiculous situations, and the luxury of superpowerful weapons with unlimited ammo, jet planes, hover-bikes, impossibly-amazing vehicle handling, and totally customizable characters/cars! :yeah:  :yeah:

That's kind of the reason I haven't found myself playing too much of Saint's Row The Third. I knew the first two were GTA clones and I was attracted to that, but I never got a chance to pick them up. Got The Third in a Steam sale or Humble Bundle and was turned off by its over the top nature. It just rubbed me the wrong way. Eh, to each their own I always say.

Anyway, today I got a chance to try out the new "update" in Goat Simulator that has it turned into an "MMO" and had a blast playing it for about an hour or so. Its too bad it is only mocking that genre and not actually allowing people to play it together.

Oh, I can totally see where you're coming from, Red... the game is simply STUPIDLY over-the-top... I've basically given up trying to make much sense of the absurd plot. Even now, 5 or so missions from the end, I can remember various missions, but only to the extent of what happened, and not have the slightest clue/remembrance as to why.

I too was totally put off by the game at first, not only from the story, but also the controls. Everything felt a little off from GTA IV, like animations were a little too exaggerated, and the vehicle controls far too simplified. For the first 5 or so hours playing SR3, I vividly recall feeling exactly like I did way back in 2000 playing The World is Not Enough for the first time, having already mastered everything there was (i.e. unlocked all cheats) in GoldenEye. Everything felt like a clunky, cheap, & simplified knock-off of GTA IV. But after putting some decent time into customizing my character (and I'll tell you now, this character is decidedly NOT appropriate to share here >:-] <_> ), I began to enjoy it for what it was... an indulgent R-rated Saturday morning cartoon to GTA IV's summer blockbuster action movie.

Absolutely loving Far Cry 4 but I'm feeling regret from not finishing Far Cry 3. I guess I should rectify that soon.

Oh yeah you need to get onto that mate haha. Far Cry 3 was fantastic.

Me, still playing Far Cry 4, and having an absolute blast playing it. So much fun!!! So far I've pumped about 10 hours into it and I've only just gotten to about 20% completion. Although I am just over half way through the main missions. Good thing about Far Cry is that you can easily get lost in the world just doing things that pop up. Overall I'm enjoying this a lot more than Assassins Creed Unity, which was still quite good IMO but has nothing on the awesomeness that is Far Cry :D :yeah:

I have to play farcry 4! I'm waiting for my friend to finish up with his playthrough so he can pass it on to me after! :D

Has anybody played the Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- DEMO? I'm not heavy on fighting games, but it turns out I learned the ropes to this game really fast and it's just brilliant in execution from the art and animation (can you believe this ISN'T hand-drawn 2D animation!?) all the way to the tight mechanics and amazing rock soundtrack.

The trailer, I think, just convinced me that a fighting game (I never buy fighting games) may be worth the price of a brand new purchase.

Have played a fair bit of local Mario Kart 8 multiplayer over the last couple of days. Got the DLC, and have been playing the tracks.

Also played a bit of GTA V on the PS4 today too. Enjoying good old Los Santos once again :yeah:

We'll have to play around in Los Santos sometime! It's still one of my favorite online games :D

I just bought Octodad: Dadliest Catch since it was half off on the PSN store, what a funky game! I'm loving it :)

Oh! Me and my Raid team in Destiny have just defeated the new raid Crota's End! It was madness, hours of absolute trial-and-error madness, but we finally beat it ! :D

I started skyward sword again, trying to get into it, at the second dungeon and honestly, this game isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Sure the motion controls can be annoying but it's as much of a zelda game as Twilight Princess or Wind Waker are. Enjoying it. Also dabbling in smash wii u to practice for a local tournament next week. Not sure if I should go with Yoshi, Shulk or Cpt Falcon. :p

Just snagged up Kirby's Dream Land 3 from Club Nintendo. I'll probably be playing this for the next couple of days.

My friend and I are still working on Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2. We've both been busy more now than ever, so we don't get much time to progress through the game. Still, we've taken down three scenarios and are moving on to Desperate Times.

doing a re-run of twilight princess on gamecube with my fresh new smash bros controller 8) this is the first time i'll experience this game with a brand new controller and every button feeling nice and clicky.

also worth highlighting: goldeneye reloaded (PS3)=> this game seriously smashes any other FPS on the PS3 ever released; classic health bar, medkits, no respawning enemies, local multiplayer, stealth gameplay, being able to carry 3 guns in stead of the usually 2 (that you, halo....not!), secret shortcuts in stead of one straight line... this game has it all and more. i will still be playing this in 10 years time. it was developed by eurocom, the same company that brought us duke nukem zero hour, duke nukem 64, the world is not enough. clearly these guys know how to make an engaging game. it's insanely fun

other honorable mentions: MGS V groud zeroes (PS3), , , starfox assault (gamecube), timesplitters future perfect (gamecube)

Yesterday me and my little girl had some 64 time. She watched me play Pilot Wings, Mario Kart, Ocarina of Time, and Banjo Tooie. I also played Mario 64, and let her try it.I have to say that it is kind of an emotional experience to watch my 4 year old functionally play a game I loved so much 18 years ago! :D

I've been trudging around in the world of Dark Souls lately... finally coming back to my old game-save of 3+ years ago. I FREAKIN LOVE THIS GAME. And it reminds me so much about how much I loved Demon's Souls TOO!! (Which is, without a doubt, my #1 favorite game of all time.) Could this be my #2 favorite game of all time?!??

It's just that steep initial learning curve... just like in Demon's Souls... and IN SPITE of the fact that I've already played Demon's Souls...

I totally don't hold it against you, Red... these games are quintessentially INTIMIDATING!
Even knowing full-well what I was getting into, it's still quite overwhelming realizing what the game asks of its players. But nothing within is impossible, every hurdle has a myriad of methods to overcome them... and like any decent thing in life really SHOULD be... the more you put into it (in this case, time & effort), the more rewarding/fulfilling it is in the end.

And after all that... after how much I loved Demon's Souls... I still felt the need to "mentally prepare myself" for this spiritual successor, something that took me nearly half of the last console generation to do!!

Been hopelessly consumed by Animal Crossing: New Leaf lately. I always have to have a nice peaceful game to retreat to. I haven't been this emotionally invested in my town since the Gamecube days. It's such a perfect game to have on the go too!

Been working on Star Wars Rogue Squadron for the N64 Forever Beats 'Em All competition. I'm on the final chapter, but I'm trudging through the final levels. As I memorize the missions they become easier and I can finally move on to the next one and start the process over again.

Got SSB:WiiU for Christmas, so been dipping my toe into that one. I don't have any dreams of becoming competition level. I just enjoy the sheer chaos that ensues. And the music. Man. That's worth it alone.

I'm just at the end of the main storyline for Guild Wars 2, but I'm going to need some help to get through the end. It's been 2+ years coming! Great game, but it just never hooked me like Guild Wars 1 did. Holy cow I love that game. Once I beat GW2 I'll be looking to take on another Adventure/RPG style game. Not sure if I want to embark on Twilight Princess, Mass Effect Trilogy, Final Fantasy XIII-2 or a Paper Mario from the backlog. Or just go back and start a new character in GW1!
