What games are you playing?

Right now, I'm working on three games. It all depends on the time of day and situation.

- During the day (or when I come home from work), I'll be playing through Sonic Riders. Its a free game I got with my original Xbox and, so far, I think it's pretty decent. Let's hope it stays that way or, even better, picks up it's game a little.

- When it starts getting dark outside, I take Sonic Riders out of my Xbox and replace it with Fatal Frame. This is actually my second attempt at playing the game since the first attempt was ruined. All thanks to the Xbox 360's inability to play some Xbox games correctly. :/

- Speaking of Xbox 360, Skyrim is what I'll be playing whenever my friend and I have the free time. We're going through this game together and promised not to play without each other. This isn't the first time we've agreed to do this.

I've also been messing around with Pokemon Stadium 2 and Pokemon Blue, but I'm not in any rush to beat those two.

Just given up on darksiders 2 on the Wii u. The game seems so long and repetitive I just couldn't out up with it anymore. same boring combat all the time. shame because bits of it were really enjoyable. oh well onto watchdogs now.

I've been a bachelor the past couple of days, so I've had more time to play games. I started playing Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker tonight. The game is adorable. The way Captain Toad says "Ready for adventure!" is just about the cutest thing I've ever heard.

I'm highly compelled to get all the gems in each level and so far it hasn't been too challenging, but I'm only about 10 stages in. It's a superb little puzzle game, and getting all the little challenges for each stage, whether it's number of coins, or avoiding certain events adds some great replay-ability.

This was my first Nintendo game though, since I was just a lad back in the 80's, that didn't come with an instruction manual. I knew this day was coming. But I'm sad that it's here. I always enjoyed thumbing through the manuals and looking at the art and learning about the game.

I picked up cheap on the Xbox one. I was holding out to buy the Wii U version but it took so long and was more than double the price of the Xbox version so I decided not to. Only played about 10 minutes, it chased and I had a start all over again so not a great start lol

@kartmaster: I'm playing Captain Toad too...great game! Love curling up on the couch with the gampad and knocking off a few levels at a time. Fun game.

I too have bemoaned the loss of the game manual. I like the tangible...and that should not relegate me to the analog scrap heap, right? I mean how not helpful is it to have an electronic manual you can only view if you stop the game and change screens a few times? Feel like I'm at work rifling through computer files. No thanks!

And the game guides generally seem way too intensive for my liking. Manuals were an executive summary, not a darn novel.

If I had the time, money and expertise, I'd love to be one of thosr guys producing game manuals for repro carts (except now for new games without manuals). Be a shame to see that tradition lost....

I know a few peeps in the repro business that could produce manuals for cases like this. Seems like it's inevitable, as most of us collectors MUCH prefer physical manuals. Time will tell, but I would bet someone will come along and stun us all with some glorious manuals. I'd buy em!

Sonic Riders has been completed and now my daylight gaming time will be spent on Gargoyle's Quest II: The Demon Darkness for NES. I actually bought this on the WiiU Virtual Console about a month or so ago, but never got around to playing it. I can't wait to play the storyline prequel to one of my all-time favorite Game Boy games.

i just finished an epic gaming session playing the following games on gamecube:
- resident evil 0
- f zero GX
- a new file on twilight princess
- MGS twin snakes

running through these games was such a rush. man, nintendo packed a punch back in the gamecube days. one classic after the other. i could lick these graphics from my CRT screen, they look that good lol.

oh and forgot to mention my epic blues session in rocksmith 2014 earlier today. this game is so great, i'm not sure its even a game anymore. this could easily cost 800 euro and would still be worth every penny. just discovered i could use pretty much every guitar tone from joe perry to jimi hendrix, on my own guitar, being accompanied by an AI band that follows your playing style

I've been tempted to pick this game up for awhile. Do you think its a good learning add for a Intermediate guitarist?

yes, for one reason: session mode.

basically, you start by defining the key, scale and chord progression.

i always pick key A, minor pentatonic and blues progression. you can also use the guitar tone from any song on the playlist which is beyond awesome.

then, when you start playing the scale layout is actually shown on the fretboard. there are different options, but in blues progression, when the I-IV-V chord is played by the AI, the scale will highlight the chord tones.

not only that, but by the push of a single button, the scale will change to position II, III and so on.

you can chose to view the scale in position I, or you can "zoom out" of the neck and see all positions, all at once.

you can also modify your type of band and the instruments that are played by the band.

you can easily do with just this one mode. then, you've not even touched learning actual songs from many cool bands (aerosmith, Queen, the doors, jimi hendrix, slash, nirvana, the police, iron maiden, boston,...)

this game is deep, man

Fresh off my completion of Gargoyle's Quest II, I jump straight into Star Wars Battlefront for Xbox...even though I'll probably switch to Fatal Frame in about 15 minutes. Doesn't mean I can't get things started, though. I have to clear all of these Star Wars games sometime or another. :P

I have recently purchased dragon age inquisition a few hours in as of last week and the battle mechanics and gameplay just isn't broad enough for me, I prefer skyrim esque gameplay much more freedom if you k ow what I mean, will keep at it though! Just started were I left off about a month back on twilight princess about an hour in and really can't wait to get stuck in really wish I had the GameCube version though... Another title I started and fell in love with again is Spartan total warrior for GameCube full I. Back and slash and the. Some more back and slash! For me at least it doesn't get dull there is enough variety to keep it going. Sadly destiny for Xbox 1 is regularly played.... Really should stop playing it and play some of the oldies Ive bought and not even started!
It's not who you are underneath but what you do that defines you

My friend and I have called it quits on Skyrim after some things I didn't agree with in the game finally made me run out of patience. I really wanted to like this one, but I don't. I've heard some advice that could make the game more enjoyable for me, but I'm leaving that for another day.

And so our co-op via phone calls sessions have moved to Silent Hill 4: The Room. I've heard from many fans of the series that this is Silent Hill at it's worst (in a bad way), but my friend likes it. He's never played any other Silent Hill, though, so I'm keeping my expectations a bit low. From what little we've played, I think it's okay but I don't find it scary just yet.

I finally completed Persona 3 Portable. It was a magnificent 82-hour adventure that I must now experience through the animated movies of the game. I also went ahead and bought Persona 3 FES since it's 4.99 on PSN. I'll want to play this again someday and dig into that extra material and additional content.

I started Persona Q on 3DS a few days ago and so far it's absolutely fantastic. For the dungeons and combat, I prefer the original Persona style where you can see your characters visually and all that, but I quickly got over it and I quite enjoy drawing maps through the labyrinths! It clings well onto the Persona charm, and it's just filled with fan service for the Persona 3 and 4 cast of characters. Let's just say it hasn't lost any of Persona's difficulty. Dying results in your losing your last hours of progress through a dungeon, which can sometimes be really infuriating. I'm used to it, though, as it happened in literally every Persona game I've played on multiple occasions before.

With Star Wars Battlefront, I've moved on to Strider for NES, but I'm not sure how long I'll be playing this one. The wall jumping is way too tough to perform and I find myself getting frustrated. It's a shame because the rest of the game is pretty solid, but I can't keep playing a game with difficult wall jumping when it's required to get through some levels.

I can't even count the number of times I've died in Bloodborne today >_< It's great though, really fun game. I managed to make it to the first boss (I think it's the first boss, at least) without coming across any checkpoints and he destroyed me in 10 seconds. I'll try again later :D

It feels so good when you annihilate that one enemy who killed you and you see all your blood echoes return!

I suck horribly at those types of games. Had a crack at Dark Souls and was getting absolutely dominated, dying all the time and not progressing at all.

Is it that they are just incredibly hard games, or am I missing something entirely?

Yeah it's a game that sort of teaches you how to play through death, pretty much... You eventually reach a point where you've died so many times from specific enemies or in specific locations, that each time you come back to life you know what to expect, play more carefully and manage to get a little farther and do a little better. It's a really slow crawl to an otherwise rewarding-feeling hunt. I finally took down the Cleric beast just earlier, after a few failed fights. I can't tell you how awesome it felt to see those that big PREY SLAUGHTERED graphic on the screen

In fact I was so proud of my take-down that I uploaded a video of the fight to my Youtube channel ^_^

I'm finished with Strider and even completed Street Punks on PS1. Now I'm trying to finish my playthrough of Pokemon Blue that I started years ago. Wow...I remember when I used to love this game, but time didn't do this game any favors. Many of the stuff I'm used to having in the newer Pokemon games don't exist in this one and it's definitely noticable.

Still, I already have six badges and really want to get this game out of the way. Plus, finding Pokemon Stadium 2 recently gave me enough drive to level up my Pokemon so they can participate in PS and PS2's tournaments with my own Pokemon. Rentals are the worst.
