Controller Collecting Extraordinaire
I'm starting this thread as a means of keeping track of one of the top 3 most rare N64 controllers. Taking a similar format as that of the E3 controller thread and the GEOFFREY controller thread in order to keep an accurate count of how many we have identified/found in the world.

Your kidding. What a steal. Can't believe that. A lot of these showing up at the minute.

Buys from store in Japan, makes account with N64 collectors website. Rubs it in our faces lol.

Good find mate. Anymore that you find and want to double your money on, let me know. :yeah:

This site came up first in Google. Honestly I didn't know what it was when I first saw it, although I recognized that it was unusual. I remember hearing about the Toys R Us one before, so that switched on a light bulb. I checked ebay ended listing and saw the pair that sold for $2350 and about needed to change my pants.

Japanese wikipedia says that most of the Hello Mac stores have been converted into shoe stores. They have an oddly shaped building facade. One of these shoe stores is basically down the road from the thrift store where I found this so I can almost guarantee I know the location of the original Hello Mac store that sold this particular controller.

That would be nice. Would mean that they could be more affordable for the vast majority of collectors.

How much is the one on Yahoo Japan auctions selling for? Or is it still ongoing?

There is no way I am spending hundreds on it for a sticker. Boxed, maybe. Loose no way

There are 2 available right now on Yahoo Auctions... one for Y100,000 and another for Y50,000. Feel free to do the math on it yourself, but that probably puts it out of your price range. (the higher priced one is a "buy it now" whereas the other is an on-going auction with 6 days left and 0 bids).

Yikes that is a lot. You nailed it - I am not interested :P

Appears as though many, many more of these controllers will pop up within the next year or two. Especially at these prices

Quick update after doing some EBay detective work: our ex-member amr355 was the person who purchased the two Hello Mac controllers (#8 and #9) that showed up on EBay after a reseller bought it off Yahoo Auctions. He paid $2,350 (shipping was free) for the pair of loose controllers.

He must have deep pockets now, because it took him some time late last year to come up with $400 to buy the two JAP consoles and some controllers he bought from me.

The list continues to grow, #15 spotted today on Yahoo Japan and added to the list.

FYI I'm saving pictures of all of these identified so that I can verify they are not the same/duplicates.

Okay, in my opinion this controller should no longer be considered the rarest N64 controller. #16 has just been listed on EBay and added to the list.

As of today, technically the rarest controller is the Geoffrey since there have only been 8 identified while there has now been 16 Hello Mac controllers and 20 E3 controllers.

The seller of that Hello Mac had one listed on ebay which they ended last week. There is a chance this listing is the same one, with a lower price tag and new photos. Or they acquired another.

Same as #14 that was already listed above, it's the same photos as when they were posted on Yahoo Japan.

It's official, we have one of our first confirmed "flippers" or "resellers"... 10gia-kyoto on EBay. You can see that this **opportunist** has already bought controller #10 and now controller #14 from Yahoo Japan, then lists them on EBay using the exact same photos after increasing the price.

I didn't realise what this controller was but did see the recent eBay one I think....was alongside another standard or maybe MK controller and went for around 265 pounds. Bit scuffed up but I thought it was just a random sticker someone put on it. Wasn't even mentioned in description it was anything special must have known it wouldn't go for peanuts but given its apparent rarity and what some of you guys can and will spend on pads would that be a fair price for a non mint one?
Daiei hawks system wanted...Advice on how to get a mint boxed one from Japan safely appreciated!

Latest Update (6/17/2013):
Added #18 and #19 to the list from Yahoo Japan Auctions.

Also did some detective work and figured out that #15 that was posted on EBay went to TheJuice401 from our forums - updated the list accordingly.

Lastly, note that the EBay re-seller 10gia-kyoto has been using duplicate pictures for multiple Hello Mac controller auctions. They sold item 271206307737 (#15) as mentioned above to TheJuice401, but still has another auction that is currently open, 271222173197 for $699. It uses the same 2 pictures as the previous, sold item. Not sure what exactly is going on here (maybe seller is too lazy to take more photos) but I'm not adding another one to the list until this open one gets sold.
