Xbox 360 or Ps3?

Which one do you prefer, and why? Which controller is more comfortable/easier to use?

I'm thinking about getting a Ps3, but I think the controller and where the analog sticks are located might annoy me, compared to the 360 controller.

The PS3 is great living room console, good for streaming if you do not have your PC hooked up to main TV. Bluray is great advantage here. Multiformat games run better on the 360. You get the odd PS3 version thats better but on whole they run better on a 360. The controller amd the sticks you will ethier love em or hate them. The first party Sony stuff is great and full of character and games have that great made in Japan feel, not to mention the region free games too. Still if you pick up one cheap you should not regret it. The dullshock setup I find akward and the sticks loose with no accuracy.

I've always been an Xbox guy over PS. I haven't played much PS3 but I have played PS2 and in my opinion the 360 just has so many quality titles.

I mostly play on-line enabled games so the Xbox 360 was the obvious choice for me. I hate the console's reliability (yeah, mine has had the ubiquitous RROD) but it's well sorted on-line service XBLA keeps me coming back. Especially when there's talk that we may eventually see either a new Killer Instinct or an HD redux of the arcade (and N64) version released.

I am a hardcore PS3 supporter. I prefer the sony exclusives way more. I prefer not to have to pay to game online. I consider the PS3 to be a more durable console. I also prefer the looks of the PS3 system over the 360. The controller is my favorite of any system.

I may sound like a total fan boy there, but that is my honest opinion.

To each his own though :)

PS3 because I had a 360 and what do you know, it got the ring of death in under a year and Micro$oft wanted $100 to fix it. I sold the thing and never looked back.

I've been an Xbox man since the beginning of Xbox existence. I bought a PS3 for a while when I had the 360, but the PS3 just sat there and never got played. Had a couple of exclusives for the PS3, but ultimately it had to go. So im a 360 man through and through and will but the next Microsoft console when it comes out. Sony can go jump. lol

WOW Zar, you got robbed on that one mate. I had the RROD twice on my original white 360, within 3 years. they fixed them for free on both occasions and I never had nay issues after that. When the Black console came out with the 250G hard drive, I jumped straight in and bought that one. mainly for the wireless. I've had that one now for over 2 years (I think) and there have been no issues. :link:

Considering xbox was the first western console on the markett I'm going to go with PS3.

I'm a Japanese fanboy.

Back in the day all the west did was make games for Japanese consoles and PC.

PS3 for me, easily.
I've owned both for the majority of this console generation... and heck, I've even been a 360 owner longer than a PS3 owner, but my allegiances align with Sony on this one. Both consoles have their pros & cons of course, and (deep-down) I'm actually a supporter of the idea of console-exclusive games, but the PS3 as a console really gets a few things right where the 360 falters:

  • console stability
  • free online gaming
  • non-proprietary components (specifically HDD, cables, and bluetooth compatibility)
  • (essentially) region-free
  • doesn't sound like a jet engine when spinning a disc
Now Playing: Clash Royale (mobile), Gravity Rush 2, Rayman Legends, Project CARS, Uncharted 4 Survival Mode ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Thanks for the replies guys, but I guess my main question was which controller do you think is more comfortable to use/easier to control? The only thing holding me back from buying a Ps3 is that I think the controller might be worse than the 360 one.

In my opinion the Xbox controller is the epitome of perfection. It sits so comfortably in your hands, the build is incredibly solid, it's well rounded so it feels complete when you hold it and the joysticks are flexible but snap back wonderfully. The playstation controller seems a bit flimsy with the actual body of the controller feeling half made, like they took the skeleton added buttons and then stopped there.

I own a 360, but honestly the initial purchase was just for Forza and Halo, as I loved them and have been playing both series since the original xbox. There is no question in my mind the better console to own is a PS3, however I dislike the PS3 controller and don't really care for their exclusives even though they have a much better selection of such. In my mind free online play is the huge winner, but if Sony eliminates the free service for the PS4 then I'll continue to stick with Microsoft.
On another note I would have torn my hair out to not been able to play the add-ons for GTA IV in that stretch of time they were exclusive to the 360, (came out 6 months earlier) I'm a big fan of Rockstar games. ha Been playing almost all their releases since I was 8.

I have no problems with the PS3 controller... but I admit that the 360 controller is extremely comfortable! I wear medium size gloves, so my hands aren't big or small... don't really have any size issues with either controller.

The PS3 controller is lighter (which I don't mind, since it's plenty sturdy), but the one somewhat minor thing I like least is the PS3 thumbsticks... the location is fine for me, but they seem to eventually wear out along the sides, which means the top rubbery part will eventually start to rub a little on the controller chassis. But this only happened to the very first controller I owned, which seriously took a BEATING from me, from playing SFIV, WipEout HD, and then GoW3, all to 100%/platinum. 360 thumbsticks seem to be better designed all-around.

The D-pad is what totally clinches it for me, though. The 360 D-pad is garbage. I can't even navigate menus consistently while using it!! The redesign is hardly better, from what I can tell. The PS3/Dualshock D-pad is the gold standard of D-pads in this generation, IMO... rivaling that of the SNES.
Now Playing: Clash Royale (mobile), Gravity Rush 2, Rayman Legends, Project CARS, Uncharted 4 Survival Mode ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I can't speak on the 360 controller really.

I stated before the PS3 was my favorite all time controller. To elaborate more:

The size and layout fits my hand perfectly. My hands are average to large I would say.
The layout is very simple. I can easily reach everything. They feel sturdy to me, but are not heavy. They hold a charge for a very long time.
I have never had an issue with the feel of the analogs, despite several hundred hours of fps play.

Xbox for me, i own both mainly because of the exclusives but it hasnt been played since I finished uncharted 3, waiting for "the last of us" now.

Xbox controller is better in my opinion, PS gives me hand ache.
hate paying to play online though.

Yeah man and I thought they would repair it for free since it failed in under a year but I guess not <_< . I decided to put it on ebay as a RRoDeath'd 360 rather than giving them the repair business and $100. Somehow I made $50 off of the auction so it wasn't too bad considering it was just a paperweight after RRoD.

It's funny how so many people have variations on what there personal tastes are in regards to which controller they prefer. I honestly think that the PS3 Controller is horrible and not a comfortable fit for the hands. On the other hand (no pun intended) the Xbox 360 controller fits in the hand nicely and doesn't give you that hand soreness you might get after hours of gaming.

Voted PS3 even though I prefer the PC over both. The PS3 looks nicer, is a Blu-Ray Player, has better game selection in my opinion, and I personally think PS+ is better than XBL, and I think the community is better on the Playstation. I also love the Playstation controller, as I use a PS3 controller with my PC often.

I would definitely take a PS3 over 360 because you don't have to pay for online, it tends to have less hardware issues, has better graphics and it has a built in blu ray player. I do like the 360 controller design more, however the fact that PS3 controllers don't use AA batteries is more valuable to me. Seriously what uses AA batteries anymore? I'm glad those have been pretty much phased out lol.

I don't really care about the 360 exclusives like Halo but I will miss Forza. But PS3 has Gran Turismo 5 so its all good.

Why am I even talking about this, I'm fine with all my old Nintendo systems haha. 8)

Well, the thing is, I don't really care about the blu ray player (because I have a 3d blu ray player), and the online thing isn't that big of an issue. I can get a $30 gold membership card on eBay for the entire year.

I guess my main justification for wanting a Ps3 is because I like the physical design of it, and I like the way the game cases look over the Xbox 360 games (Yeah, i'm a nerd, I know). I also kind of want to play the Uncharted and Grand Turismo series. I'm just trying to decide whether the controller trade off is worth it, because I find the 360 controller to be comfortable and easy to control.

Agreed. I'm also fairly OCD about cases and the neatness & uniformity of pretty much everything. Those eco friendly cases they've been using for the Wii and blu ray cases that look a bit different from all the others really annoy me.

Yeah, the PS3 game cases do look better to me to.

Ill put it this way, I wouldn't miss out on the Uncharted series if you placed tacks on my PS3 controller buttons. Well, OK maybe I would, but I would sure feel like I was missing out. Seriously though, the Uncharted games are amazing. Even if you abhor the PS3 controller, they are worth it in my book.

Another thing to consider is are you planning to download a lot? A PS3 is only limited by the physical size of the hard drive where Xbox is limited by 320gb and MS's propitiatory hard drives (You can hack certain models to be registered by the 360, but your still limited to 320)

Honestly, at this point i'd suggest just saving up and getting a console next gen instead.

I have to say 360. I own both but still haven't hooked up the PS3 and played it yet. While it does have some nice exclusives (Uncharted, the upcoming The Last of Us), I started with the 360 and I'm firmly entrenched for the time being. I have no issue with either controller nor do I see any future issue with them. I don't have a problem with any controller, in fact. You just adapt.
