Hi guys just spotted this and thought I would share with the rest of you, especially our Australian members. The R18+ classification has finally come to our gaming world and the first games to be released will be by Nintendo. Link - http://games.ninemsn.com.au/news/australia-gets-its-first-r18-game |

I saw this a few days back at my work as we have to display the sign for it. PS if anyone is in vic near eastern/western suburbs and wants to buy a new gen game - I can price match any other retailer for you but cannot beat it. PM is always open! |

Interesting! I never actually knew that the games over there didn't get 18 rated. They started slapping 18 certificates on games over here around the N64, Ps1 era. Although I think PC games were slightly earlier. Edited by clarky_n64, Jan 11 2013, 06:13 PM.

For some reason Australia never really had R18 rating, not sure why. But New Zealand (which is the closest country to Australia and pretty much is the same thing) has always had R18 rating for as long as I can remember... |

I'm not sure why the 18+ rating even exists at this point, every time I'm on Halo or COD all I hear is *squeak squeak (racist curse) squeeeeeeaaaak*. Every child under the age of 18 already owns both the newest sequels of Halo and COD. Even the most violent controversial games like Grand Theft Auto and Max Payne are controlled by kids, ratings while they help, they barely serve as a deterrent. So what parent would buy their kid under the age of 15 a game called "Grand Theft Auto" anyway? Common sense, most people are devoid of it I guess and as long as their kids shut up they'll get them the games. It's just frustrating that rating boards initiate and enforce these standards, while I can't tell any sort of discernible difference during online play for any of the games I own. lol
